I wanted 3. I've got 2.

OP posts:
Briarshollow · 02/08/2021 20:42

Wanted 0, have 1.

Bin85 · 02/08/2021 20:47

3 and 3

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 02/08/2021 20:47

Growing up I imagined having a bunch of kids, like at least 6. When I was older and more realistic (for myself) I thought 4 would be good. Financially though we could afford 2 so we had 2. Then when they were 11 and 15 we decided to have one more.
So wanted 4, have 3.

WendyJames35 · 02/08/2021 20:50

3 & 3

Mcginn · 02/08/2021 20:54

Wanted 3, have 2 and DH doesn’t want a 3rd so I guess that’s is done. Always imagined we’d have a boy but we have 2 beautiful girls instead ❤️

billiebeeme · 02/08/2021 20:55

Prior to having any kids, I wanted 3, maybe 4 if I had loadsa money n didn't need to work 😂

I have 2 and oh my god it's so much harder with 2 compared to 1, she's nearly 2 and I'm still in shock 😄🙈

Justletmelogon · 02/08/2021 20:56

As a child I always wanted 10!
As an adult I wanted 5 but had 1, was a single mum for 15 yrs then met DH had 2 more , miscarried 2, had 1 more then miscarried so I've got 4.
After 4 emergency csection I was told absolutely no more, but I always hanker after the 5th I cant have. Which is stupid as I'm peri menopausal and know I can't. Doesnt stop me longing though, even tho pregnancy is utter shite, it's all worth it.

ivfbabymomma1 · 02/08/2021 21:00

I have 1. I don't really remember ever wanting a specific amount. I'm 33 and have some embryos stored (user name) so I'm thinking of trying for number 2. (Last one of successful) but then I wonder if I can cope with 2 as I'm so content with 1! Anyone else gave this struggle to decide?

PicturesOfLily · 02/08/2021 21:02

I wasn’t too bothered about having any when I was younger and later either wanted 0 or 2. I have 2. I sometimes think I want 3 (probably hormones as youngest is 5 months) but DH won’t even consider it and it’s sensible to stop at 2 for several reasons so I think we’re done.

bookworm14 · 02/08/2021 21:03

Assumed I would have 2 because it’s the done thing. Have 1 and have never wanted any more.

Mumvschildren · 02/08/2021 21:06

Didn’t see myself as a mother at all-didn’t really see the point of them

Ended up with 6

Dp has 2 so 8 between us

Briarshollow · 02/08/2021 21:06

I simply don’t understand and can’t imagine the yearning for a child. I have one and I love him but I didn’t want him. I never yearned for him. I wouldn’t be without him but I still don’t yearn for another. I find other people’s pregnancies and children utterly tedious. I wasn’t that interested in my own to be honest. I do sometimes wonder what’s missing from me. Especially when I read threads like this.

Polmuggle · 02/08/2021 21:06

You have 3 and you're pretty miserable you had them? [/quote]
Yep. I wanted 1, my partner wanted 3, we 'compromised' on 2 and ended up with 3 (twins).

What happened to take you from not wanting them to having six? Was it six pregnancies?
ouchmyfeet · 02/08/2021 21:11

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal

Same OP - wanted 3, have 2.

DH just couldn't be persuaded on a third, and tbf I am very happy with my gorgeous pair.

Exactly this for me too.

Now the youngest is 9 I think maybe we were right to stop at 2 after all. Sometimes still miss that imaginary 3rd baby though

Mayhemmumma · 02/08/2021 21:12

3 have 2
Despite years of trying for the 3rd I'm content with my lovely lot...and got a puppy!

HaNNaHC92 · 02/08/2021 21:15

Wanted 3 and have 3 and the sexes I wanted to - 2 boys and 1 girl (but any order was fine)

FlatStanletta · 02/08/2021 21:17

Wanted 3, I now have 3 and part of me would love a 4th but DH says no way and I think I would find it hard to go through it all again. The 3 I have are lovely (if hard work)

MaryShelley1818 · 02/08/2021 21:21

Wanted 0 and ended up with 2 after a mad panic at age 39!
Very lucky to have ended up with a boy and a girl which is what I would have chosen.

Fourmagpies · 02/08/2021 21:22

Didn't want any for years then wanted 3 when we started our family. Have 2, also lost one and couldn't face another pregnancy so now have a dog instead.

Foxglovesandlilacs86 · 02/08/2021 21:23

I never thought about it until I found myself pregnant at 21. I k ew as soon as I had him I wanted more, thought I’d have 4. I have 8! Definitely not having anymore! Wine

crazydogmum · 02/08/2021 21:23

Any. Zero Sad

Mylittlesandwich · 02/08/2021 21:24

Wanted 2. We have 1 and I suspect we'll stick at 1. I found pregnancy and the newborn stage very difficult and I don't think I'll go through it again.

bringonyourwreckingball · 02/08/2021 21:25

Wanted 2, had 2. No regrets. They are the absolute best of friends which is a huge bonus.

itshappened · 02/08/2021 21:28

I thought I wanted zero for most of my life, but then after I had one child, decided I had been totally wrong before about not having children, and decided I wanted 3 or 4. I have 2 wonderful children now, but realistically we can't afford any more, so I'm having to get used to the idea of no more babies.
