AIBU or is this baby?

There's this baby I know who has recently decided that every moment he is awake, it is appropriate to SHOUT. It doesn't matter where we are either (he seems to follow me everywhere), at home, in the shops, during my routine eye test the other day (the only time he actually stopped was to take a giant dump much to the amusement of the optician who was trying to remain professional).

When it first started, I thought something may be up so being a good mum person, checked on him. But no, there is no crying, no frustration, this kid thinks it's hilarious.

I've politely asked him to stop but it's made no difference and I'm sure I saw a little middle finger go up at one point although I may have hallucinated that part.

My husband is at work during the day so is only subjected to this for a few hours in the evening. He thinks it's funny and actually encourages it, shouting back! LTB?

Anyway, what should I do about this my shouting baby? I should at least log it with 101 right? Will my MP be interested?

Where is your DH in all this?

MrsW2603 · 29/07/2021 15:57

You need to stop enabling this sort of behaviour

bananafish · 29/07/2021 16:15

My French MIL attacked a similar problem with teaspoons of brandy.

She still can't understand why I never leave her alone with ses petits-enfants.

Boarding school? Or summer camp?

I had a similarly malfunctioning unit. Noise was known as the pterodactyl, the more public the place, the louder the shriek. I couldn't return as I hadn't kept the receipt. Luckily the issue seemed to go away with age and plans to swap for a quieter model were shelved. However, said DBaby now has new malfunction of biting me when it doesn't get it's own way, always something!

Please try counselling.
You can’t change the problem but you can change your reaction to it. I suggest plenty of alcohol.

Mooey89 · 29/07/2021 18:53

Ok I’ve RTFT now and I’ve got to say, he sounds like a total cocklodger.
You run around after him, cook his meals, do his laundry, WIPE HIS ARSE AND pay for everything?!

Here, have my first ever Biscuit

If you go down the alcohol route, administer it to the baby. Babies are lightweights and can't hold their drink at all.
rosegoldivy · 29/07/2021 19:14

To be honest it's not a baby problem is sounds like you have a DH problem.

First shout for this to be in classics!

Yes yes @rosegoldivy - I asked for consideration in classics this afternoon. It's gotta make it surely. Best thread in a long time

@messybun101 ahhh I didn't see you had already requested it.

I sincerely apologise for claiming the first shout and stand down while you take the classics crown! I've been laughing so hard at this thread.

Sistine chapel comment had me buckled 🤣

Could it be COVID related?
Isolate the baby for 10 days preferably at the in-laws Wink

Hannayeah · 29/07/2021 21:43

I don’t think you are telling us the full story here.

Is this a reverse OP?

lachy · 29/07/2021 22:32

I had one of those.... an absolute beast. I managed to fix it for a couple of hours a day because I hypnotised it with Bing.

I've got PTSD because of Pando always wearing his pants, but at least the beastly baby was quiet for a bit.
