What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Personally, toothache (constant background throb with searing white hot stabs that made me feel like I was being electrocuted in my skull every few seconds) gets the award for absolute worst ever. Two frozen shoulders, and adenomyosis that used to regularly have me puking and fainting and almost hallucinating on the bathroom floor are strong contenders - but miles behind. There is just something about vicious toothache that makes it the worst.

Contemplating this as just back from the dentist, where at least for now, things were ok this time Grin

What about you?

Large ovarian cyst that torsioned while out shopping. Honestly thought I was going to die and was hallucinating with the pain.

MobyDicksTinyCanoe · 28/07/2021 19:26

Acute pancreatitis.

My God death would have been a relief!

Toothache, earache and Labour

Child birth

movingadviceneeded · 28/07/2021 19:26

52 hour back to back Labour with failed epidurals. See also, a 14 stich tear / episiotomy. See also, prolapsed likes the size of golf balls post birth.

Lucky my kid is cute.

Gallstones

user1498572889 · 28/07/2021 19:27

Gallstones. Gave birth 3 times with no pain relief but loads of it with gallstones.

stonebrambleboy · 28/07/2021 19:27

Gangrenous bowel, nearly killed me. Childbirth was a walk in the park compared to that.

itssquidstella · 28/07/2021 19:27

@HopingForOurRainbowBaby Thanks

My worst was my first MVA. I was told it wouldn't hurt and given two paracetamol as pain relief. Fuck me, it hurt SO much. I made them give me codeine and gas and air when I had to have a second one, and even then it was still bloody painful.

movingadviceneeded · 28/07/2021 19:27

Likes = piles.

AlexaShutUp · 28/07/2021 19:28

Labour.

Much worse than gallstone pain for me - all I can remember is just wanting to die. Worse than my broken collarbone. And worse than my two simultaneous frozen shoulders. All of which were pretty grim.

Still awaiting gallbladder surgery and the attacks are fucking awful, but I'd still choose them over labour pains any day. Maybe it was worse because I was induced? Or because things didn't progress as they should have done. Don't know, but it was definitely the worst for me.

trapped nerve. Unbearable.

Walking round on a fractured leg for 3 months - GP insisted it was 'just' a torn knee cartilage and gave me ibuprofen gel to rub in.......Confused

Grief

ahoyshipmates · 28/07/2021 19:32

3 - childbirth, spine to spine presentation. Almost unbearable but not quite. Mainly because it had a purpose.

2 - tooth abscess, horrific, ended up in A&E after having an adverse reaction to codeine.

1 - oesophageal spasm - indescribable agony. Eventually keeled over unconscious and carted off to hospital flat out with everyone (including the paramedics) believing it was a heart attack.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 28/07/2021 19:33

A mysterious chest pain.
It woke me up in the middle of the night and I thought I was having a heart attack it was that bad. Got to A&E and it stopped and they thought costochondritis.
I've had attacks regularly since, always feel like someone is trying to saw through my sternum and gut me. GP thinks digestive issue so I'm on omeprazole and so far no attacks.
I've never felt pain like it. Labour was awful, but it came in waves. This was non stop "please shoot me" kind of pain.

Slumcat · 28/07/2021 19:33

I’ve had cancer, spinal surgery and two babies but by far the worst pain was when my appendix ruptured aged 18, I remember being in utter agony and vividly remember the feeling and pain of it actually bursting 🤢
