This 'second coming' will be like the end of the horror film where the hand reaches up from the grave.

I hope I don't offend anyone, but it's like he has some kind of Ego-induced Tourette's Syndrome where he uncontrollably spouts some nonsense when he feels himself slipping off of centre stage. It's pathetic.

IIRC he only has 4 more days until he's 'magically reinstated' as POTUS. 🙄 I'm sure he's ramping up the shit-stirring because he knows that isn't really going to happen. Or maybe he's so delusional that he actually thinks it IS.

lionheart · 10/08/2021 02:07

I hope nothing happens in four days.

I wonder if he ever had filters that worked properly.

He must have, at some point, even in order to manipulate people.

As if... naming the longest highway after him will happen?!

Someone in the comments suggested naming a Prison... 'Donald J Trump Penitentiary' then when he's imprisoned (he wish!) he'll feel like a King... Grin

A little bit dated now (5-6 days ago), but it seems as if there is SOME sense in the Florida area... DeSantis now has a negative approval rating. Mind you - still scared by the 44% who think he is doing a GOOD job :-(

I think I'd prefer "The Donald J Trump Toxic Waste Dump". Much more befitting considering some of the toxicity that comes out his arse mouth.

Just putting this on here because we've talked before about Yevgeny Prigozhin and Russia's covert private army, Wagner.

Wagner: Scale of Russian mercenary mission in Libya exposed
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-58009514
A new BBC investigation has revealed the scale of operations by a shadowy Russian mercenary group in Libya's civil war, which includes links to war crimes and the Russian military.
A Samsung tablet left by a fighter for the Wagner group exposes its key role - as well as traceable fighter codenames.
And the BBC has a "shopping list" for state-of-the-art military equipment which expert witnesses say could only have come from Russian army supplies.

Oh gosh, now I've read that Salon article, lionheart, I think mentioning Wagner was very apposite indeed.

It hadn't occurred to me before, but "oligarch" is exactly the correct term for those among the ultra-rich in the US who are attack democracy in order to maintain and strengthen their own position.

Very thought-provoking and informative article.

PerkingFaintly · 11/08/2021 08:35

US politics does seem to have a long history of being highly dependent on bogeymen – to scare citizens into the fold and keep them distracted from the daily grind.

Political groups in many countries use bogeymen, of course. It might be just my perception, but it feels to me like the US is often much more extreme in this than the UK. I remember "Reds under the bed" only too well.

So it's absolutely no surprise to see US oligarchs using dark money to puff whatever this week's moral panic is.

The name of the bogeyman changes every year or two, and social media has opened up exciting new channels for shitspreading, but underneath it's the same old same old.

I was listening to an account of these mercenaries and their war crimes on R4 just this morning, Perking. They seem to have mutliple tentacles.

NEW: A judge has ruled that Scotland can pursue a money-laundering investigation into Trump's golf courses, after lawyers cited the Trump Organization criminal cases in New York

Wouldn't it just be ironic if it were Scotland that brought Trumpy down

I think it would be wonderful!!!

I'm not sure how the court system works in Scotland*, but at least we know if there's a Supreme Court equivalent, (because his legal team will appeal it as far as it can go) it won't be packed with Doofus' lackeys and sycophants!

I'm sure any UK/Scotland* sources will have to cooperate, but not so sure about how they're going to get evidence from sources in the US that don't want to cooperate.

*I plead ignorance of who has jurisdiction of what as far as how the legal system(s) work. Does Scotland have a completely separate one?
