CNN news flash on my phone is reporting US and civilian casualties at the two airport sites, and one other explosion near the Baron Hotel. It says that Biden is in the Situation Room.

IIRC a branch of anti-Taliban ISIS (ISIS-K?) has been threatening to disrupt the ongoing evacuations. I suppose these bombings may be the start of that.

I don't mean to sound blasé or uncaring, but this isn't entirely unexpected. But I don't know what they could have done that would have resulted in an easy and peaceful evacuation.

The Repugs are going to have a field day with this. Blithely ignoring that it was a Repug POTUS (GW Bush) that got us into this mess and a Repug POTUS (Doofus) who made the recent withdrawal agreement.

I'm glad that Joe has a cool head, lots of experience, and a willingness to accept responsibility for his actions. That means that he will think hard and weigh his options before deciding. Not like Doofus who was mainly concerned with sliding out of any responsibility for anything or GW who couldn't make a decision of his own.

This attack was very much expected, people were urged not to go to Kabul airport because of an imminent terrorist thread.
But what could they do, they had nowhere to go really.
