AIBU to be upset at this disappointment

For the past 18 months I have done as I have been told: stayed in, kept my distance, not seen my Mum or grandchildren, not holidayed, had the jabs and downloaded the app.
When it looked like the easing of restrictions on 19th July was going to happen my DH and I decided to treat ourselves and booked good (I.e expensive) theatre tickets and lunch in a nice hotel in a nearby city. On Monday I booked and paid for the train tickets.
On Wednesday I get pinged and told to self isolate until midnight on Saturday. I calculated that my contact day was last Thursday and what did I do last Thursday? I popped into Tesco. I don't think I was in the shop for 15 minutes - never mind near someone for 15 minutes. Otherwise I have been nowhere and done nothing. 🤢
I have taken a PCR test and am waiting for the results but 3 lateral flow tests have proved negative. I am so upset.
I know people have much worse problems so AIBU for being so upset that I can't go.

I meant to add....I took my mum to a cafe this morning for cake and coffee. Everyone had masks on, until seated, staff had masks on.
One customer started kicking off as the shop no longer had the track and trace thing on the counter that you have to zap with your phone. He said they were asking for trouble and he wouldn't be eating there anymoreConfusedShock

I'd ignore it. I ignored my ping. It told me to isolate for 1 day. Bit bloody late, I'd been at work all week! I tested negative so ignored it.

Rowgtfc72 · 23/07/2021 15:29

I'd go. And definitely delete the app.
I work in a factory and we're asked to turn the app off at work.

@ShortBacknSides

All it takes is one asymptomatic person not wearing a mask, and the space is infected.

Tell that to the "Freedom Day" brigade. Loads of them posting here

I thought masks don't work because the virus is airborne?
muddyford · 23/07/2021 15:32

Delete the app. It's not compulsory and its notification to isolate has no legal force. It could have been triggered through a wall.

RadandMad · 23/07/2021 15:39

Go. Ignore it. You've gone above and beyond in terms of responsibility.

YANBU to be upset.

Remember the serial misogynist and liar, who cannot even think of the health of the Queen until reminded, when it comes time to vote.

WilsonMilson · 23/07/2021 15:56

I’m struggling to believe people still have this app. I never downloaded it on the first place. Delete and go. You’re being careful and doing the right things. We have to stop this bloody madness at some point.

Youdiditanyway · 23/07/2021 15:59

Oh for God’s sake, just go! You don’t have to isolate when pinged, delete the app and go.

ScrollingLeaves · 23/07/2021 15:59

I wonder how many people like me don’t even have the app because of not using a smartphone. I go into shops perfectly frequently and perhaps if I had it I’d have been pingued too.

I am very sorry this has happened to you.

MindTheBumps · 23/07/2021 16:44

When your PCR is negative then go to the theatre and enjoy yourselves.

millenialblush · 23/07/2021 16:50

Delete the sodding app! Its whats keeping this BS going.

Grapewrath · 23/07/2021 16:58

Ignore the ping and enjoy the theatre

Cloudninenine · 23/07/2021 17:30

Just go! You’ve done tests. You’re fine.
