To think people crying ‘Freedom’ today are stupid sheep…

Rainallnight · 19/07/2021 08:51

…who have let themselves be manipulated by the right wing media and the Government?

Freedom can mean lots of things and you can look all over the world for examples of people who are not free.

But the Government, supported by the right wing media, are selling this idea of a freedom day as a distraction from rocketing Covid rates.

I think people who buy into it are sheep.

YABVU to try to police people's use of a perfectly ordinary word, pretend that it's not perfectly normal to use 'free' and 'freedom' in all kinds of contexts, try to guilt people by implying it's a word that can only refer to those in dictatorial regimes etc and call people 'sheeple'.. just because you disagree with the government's current Covid policy.

bathorshower · 19/07/2021 16:06

Saucery
May I suggest Sheepingly Sheepish The Group on FB for those wishing to revel in photos of sheep?

Thank you - who knew such a thread would bring so much joy!

pigsDOfly · 19/07/2021 17:04

For those so inclined I would also recommend youtube videos of baby goats.

So cute.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/07/2021 17:07

I wouldn't entertain the opinion of anyone who calls people "sheep" or "snowflake" and the like.

Bryonyshcmyony · 19/07/2021 17:23

@Horehound

Covid has really made people nasty, hasn't it?
Yes it has.
Blossomtoes · 19/07/2021 17:30

Not the sheep though, they’re gorgeous.

Bryonyshcmyony · 19/07/2021 17:50

I did used to think sheep were gorgeous until I owned some

They are the most destructive animal on the planet

JustGiveMeGin · 19/07/2021 18:32

Sheep are incredibly stupid, I won't be wearing a mask and will be actively avoiding businesses that expect me to do so.
I will happily be a mask free stupid sheep and if it makes the OP feel better for getting this off her chest then so be it!
I'm Frrrrrreeeeee so I gives not one shit Grin

Madly researching baby goat you tube
To go with kittens and lambs

Nohomemadecandles · 19/07/2021 21:04

Sheep are one of the few animals that make noise for no reason. Meaningless bleating. Bit like the people shouting "sheep".

I like those black faced ones. Cute. Noisy but really cute. I like sheep.

Yes, my DD sent me a video some time ago that she made when she was out with her DP.

They were near a large flock of sheep running in a field, looked like a lot of ewes with their lambs, and the noise was tremendous as they all seemed to be 'shouting' at the same time at the top of their voices.

They didn't look spooked or anything, they just seemed to be very happy and loud.

Makes a change from leftist lockdown zealots spouted in the media

gillysSong · 20/07/2021 16:41

It's not just those shouting "freedom"
I think most of society are sheep, tbh.
If you follow the fold, do the same, live life pretty much the same with hardly any deviation from the norm, then you are a sheep.

The difference is the sheep are rounded up to do what's expected of them. Grin The office

Proper noisy little buggers. But you can't fall out with one, can you? They also keel over dramatically if you look at them the wrong way and need picking back up. Really sweet.
SchrodingersImmigrant · 20/07/2021 19:20

Bet you they are proper quiet today😂

HollySass · 20/07/2021 19:44

I avoid businesses who still enforce masks. Very happy to take my sheeple money elsewhere.

This glimpse of freedom is nice, best enjoyed whilst it lasts - like life in general!

Pretty sure the businesses you are avoiding will be happy for you to do that too. A business has a duty of care to their staff, and it's great to see so many are asking their customers to do this one simple thing to help protect both staff and each other.

Personally I'll be avoiding the ones that don't value their staff.

Using the following words will make me shut off to any of their ‘views’

*sheep
*sheeple
*tyranny
*right wing media

I could go on

itsnotmeitsu · 20/07/2021 23:42

@Nohomemadecandles, "They also keel over dramatically if you look at them the wrong way and need picking back up." > This made me laugh because it reminded me of our tough ex-hare courser. She was a rescue dog we took on and her background made her a tough girl. But when you had to lift her up, eg over a stile (she didn't know how to climb) and hand her over to the person on the other side, once she was put down she'd keel over in shock. She was also the only dog I've known that was actually able to look at you with real indignation.

Back to the subject > I've never heard anybody referring to 'Freedom Day', only seen the phrase in the media. I'm not expecting my life to change much over the next few weeks. I've had my vaccines and don't come into close contact with many people. The covid-19 infection hasn't affected me personally (for which I'm grateful), but I will continue to wear a mask in situations where I'm indoors in a public place as I'm moving around. I'll certainly be carrying on with the antibac I take out with me and avoiding touching my face when I get home until I've washed my hands again. I'm not scared of getting covid-19 anymore, I'm just become aware of how many people don't practise basic hygiene.

Me too, add "snowflake" to that list.

@JassyRadlett

When I read posts like yours it makes sense to me how tyranny has flourished in the past.

And here we have dozens of threads about ‘Freedom Day’ and how many about the new policing bill?

We are quite selective about the freedoms we care about, apparently.

This. Policing Bill and Espionage Bill are taking away our rights and the Government cries Freedom.
