To think people crying ‘Freedom’ today are stupid sheep…

…who have let themselves be manipulated by the right wing media and the Government?

Freedom can mean lots of things and you can look all over the world for examples of people who are not free.

But the Government, supported by the right wing media, are selling this idea of a freedom day as a distraction from rocketing Covid rates.

I think people who buy into it are sheep.

People have little memory. My husband's grandmother told us how many kids from her primary school class died but ,obviously, people just forget these things

Quarantines and lockdowns have been used for millennia!! Because they work!

I wished people would just learn something from this. Use mask when YOU have a cold/flu and stay at home!!!

I went to work (in a hospital!!!!) with a terrible flu a few years ago and had to go back home. That was the mentality! If you could bear work then you went! And that is so wrong. That has to change. Now we are aware of how it can affect other people and other people's loved ones

Texels are so weird looking.

MotionActivatedDog · 19/07/2021 09:35

A texel charged at my sister last week.

GoldenOmber · 19/07/2021 09:36

I feel like we’re overdue some photos of beaches taken with a telephoto lens that’s making it look like everyone’s standing on top of each other and disapproving captions about ‘flocking’, aren’t we?

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 19/07/2021 09:37

@Demelza82

YANBU. People don't like to be inconvenienced in the slightest way and tantrum about it. They also sound like whiny first world half wits when it comes to their understanding of what 'freedom' actually is. I'm glad to be a smart, considerate person and know that none of this shit will end up being on me.
Yes I'm sure your vile attitude will have no affect on people's mental health. Perhaps you won't have covid deaths on your conscience but let's not rule out suicide or self harm.
DrCoconut · 19/07/2021 09:39

@grey12 the end of presenteeism is something I hope will result from all of this. You only have to look at threads on here from a couple of years ago to see that the majority attitude was go to work/school unless you're unconscious or have part of you hanging off. It was acceptable, in fact expected that you would go in and spread germs to everyone. Let's hope that common sense can now be applied and people can be allowed to be ill and recover appropriately.

They are particularly arsey sheep, with the bulk to back it up.

If you’re going to flock to places Trees it makes sense to do it colourfully.

I don't think name calling is at all helpful. I think the current unlocking is criminally stupid - but it's being pushed by the government and the right wing media, and people listen to the red tops. Personally I think the current course is going to do enormous damage and possibly lead to another full lockdown in the autumn, but let's blame the politicians and the Murdoch press, not their victims.

Personally I'm going to carry on mask wearing in enclosed areas, keeping my distance and cleaning my hands and apart from that all I can do is hope for the best.

Bore off you weirdo

Bryonyshcmyony · 19/07/2021 09:55

I was quite looking forward to not wearing a mask in my local farm shop and being able to chat to and recognise people more easily. Sad I know. But they still want masks on so of course I'll comply but I was slightly disappointed

SmallPrawnEnergy · 19/07/2021 09:57

@Youdiditanyway

How interesting. I thought people who believed lockdowns were beneficial were sheep but it transpires people who are grateful they are over are. Glad you cleared this up for us.
Might be over for you (because now you can do all the things you’ve been able to do for months and months without a Facebook, so free!) but for others they’re living a foreseeable lockdown because the government is allowing cases, hospitalisations and icu rates to increase, life and death surgeries are being cancelled again, vulnerable are now having to restrict their lifestyle even more because of the “freedumb” But as long as you can run around without your muzzle huh?!
Bryonyshcmyony · 19/07/2021 09:58

Meant to say I am deaf in one ear so just find the whole thing makes it very difficult to communicate and I live very rurally so chatting in shops is a big part of my life!!

SmallPrawnEnergy · 19/07/2021 09:59

Face mask not Facebook

DGFB · 19/07/2021 10:00

Stay in then? Deaths aren’t rocketing btw

ProtectMaternity · 19/07/2021 10:02

Yep. These people should be a fly on the wall in our maternity units and ambulances right now - the last two weeks have been shocking and will only get worse. I’m sure other parts of the NHS are the same.

Bryonyshcmyony · 19/07/2021 10:02

I get confused about who wants what tbh.

Blossomtoes · 19/07/2021 10:03

the government is allowing cases, hospitalisations and icu rates to increase, life and death surgeries are being cancelled again

Cases are rising, hospital and ITU admissions and deaths aren’t. Life and death surgery is going ahead, some routine surgery is being cancelled in some hospitals - just as it was prepandemic.

JassyRadlett · 19/07/2021 10:04

When I read posts like yours it makes sense to me how tyranny has flourished in the past.

And here we have dozens of threads about ‘Freedom Day’ and how many about the new policing bill?

We are quite selective about the freedoms we care about, apparently.

Bryonyshcmyony · 19/07/2021 10:04

My teens are going clubbing in a few days and I must say I hope they have an absolutely marvellous time. They are both double vaccinated and one has had Covid, self isolation afterwards would be ridiculous but they think it's a price worth paying

TheReluctantPhoenix · 19/07/2021 10:07

Well,

If you are young and healthy, being able to go to a pub or a club is freedom.

Of course, the scared and vulnerable will become less free as COVID becomes rampant, at least for a while.

But I think it is fair to call it ‘freedom’, although whether this freedom is a good or bad thing is up for debate.
