Would you be bothered if someone said bloody in front of your 11 year old?

Not really thinking, at a party. No younger kids heard. Would you be overly offended? It wasn't me or my child involved but I think at 11 I wouldn't have minded my children hearing that. What's everyone else's thoughts?

I wouldn't bat an eyelid

FrankButchersDickieBow · 19/07/2021 07:41

Couldn't care less. My 12yo, nearly 13 uses 'bloody', as does her cousin. I don't even think of it as a swear word tbh.

PersonaNonGarter · 19/07/2021 07:42

Fuck no.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 19/07/2021 07:42

No, not that word at the age. I dislike swearing and would pull up friends or family who used such words when the children were young. I didn’t want them to think it was acceptable to use such words on a regular basis.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 19/07/2021 07:44

My 11 year old daughter is most likely to say it herself!

RubyGoat · 19/07/2021 07:45

Wouldn't bother me. You can't pretend they don't exist.

Youarestillintherunning · 19/07/2021 07:46

I'm not sure I would even notice tbh!

PaperMonster · 19/07/2021 08:48

Wouldn’t bother me at all.

LadyCatStark · 19/07/2021 08:51

No not at all although for some strange reason my 12 year old is adamant that bloody is up there with the worst swear words, even when used to describe something actually being covered in blood, despite us telling him frequently that it’s not 😂.

Arsebucket · 19/07/2021 08:53

No.

You can’t protect children from any language - but bloody is tame as.

I’ve heard butter wouldn’t melt 11 year olds say far worse when they think no one is listening.

Mybobowler · 19/07/2021 08:56

Is bloody even a swear word? It doesn't even register with me which probably means I use it in front of my two year old

SoapboxFox · 19/07/2021 08:56

Yes

aSofaNearYou · 19/07/2021 08:58

It wouldn't even occur to me to not say this in front of small children.

MirandaMarple · 19/07/2021 09:07

I knew swear words well before 11. My Dad was an effer and jeffer, my Mum is too but not as much as my Dad.

I also knew when and where and the appropriate times to use swear words. They're just words - that cant be used as freely as I'd like.

Lweji · 19/07/2021 09:10

I'm sure the 11 year old was horribly shocked. Grin

frankie001 · 19/07/2021 09:11

Fuck no!

KellyanneConway · 19/07/2021 09:13

No

Drummachinesandlandslides · 19/07/2021 09:14

Wouldn't notice, and wouldn't be bothered in the slightest if I did happen to.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 19/07/2021 09:14

I generally don’t swear in front on my kids but I think ‘Bloody!’ in front of an 11 year is no big deal. If I blurted it accidentally I’d say ‘Excuse my French!’

Arsebucket · 19/07/2021 09:16

This.

I’m not worried about swearing. But as my kids grow/grew up they were taught and just knew to be fair, where it wasn’t appropriate to use them. So my eldest never swore at school, around other adults, in certain situations etc.

TalkingOutYerArse · 19/07/2021 09:22

No

Mrsfrumble · 19/07/2021 09:23

My children spent their earliest years in the southern USA, where cursing in public just isn’t done. We moved back to London when DS was 5 and within a few days of arriving he got into a spat over swings at the park with another 5 yo, who called him a “fucking motherfucker”. Nothing like being back in the UK!

So no, I don’t even count bloody as swearing.

Lanique · 19/07/2021 09:24

Err no

FeelingLikeAnAlien · 19/07/2021 09:25

It’s not even a proper swear word! It is said before the watershed on the radio. Total none issue.

LemonFantaGin · 19/07/2021 09:26

Nope
