DH insisting the oven is a microwave too. Should I LTB or wait and watch?

For context, on holiday in a cottage. First holiday for yonks. Been a long long day and everyone a bit tired so we must be generous here.

DH making a latte. Getting very rattled at the pod machine. I've tried to help but, no, he knows best. Now insisting he can heat the milk in the microwave. There is no microwave. It's an oven and grill. DH has dug his heels in and is insisting it is a microwave and is now trying to put a mug of milk in it to heat. He won't be told different.

I'm now sitting watching this unfold.

Any thoughts?

Are these things only available in the UK because I have never heard of such a thing in the US.

I feel somewhat deprived.

Go and have a walk/nap/bath/ and leave him to it - maybe there will be a miracle and he'll make dinner as well

It looks from the picture as if it is ONE of those compact ovens that does everything. The shame. You'll never be allowed to forget this...

And here in the wild we see the Alpha Male of the tribe determinedly asserting his dominance over the new technology. The Alpha Female seems to be on her phone and distancing herself from the Alpha Male. If we look very closely we can see popcorn. Is this a mating ritual? It seems unlikely the male will be able to perform

We have one of those microwave/ovens in the office. Great microwave but terrible oven.

Fortunately DH handles most of the holiday cooking or we’d be screwed

If it's an oven then presumably it has metal racks in? And you can't put metal in a microwave.

My microwave has metal racks. It's a combi microwave and traditional oven.

My ancient multi function 2nd oven is a microwave and grill, too. Has a wire rack and no turntable.

Brilliant for jackets - microwave and oven on together, 2 big ones with crispy skins in 14 minutes.

True, but her DH needs to cook the Humble Pie, and any other pies, as OP has plainly demonstrated that she cannot possibly be trusted to use any sort of oven, microwave or grill ever again, because she can't even identify the aforementioned appliances.

Turn this to your advantage OP, DH does all the cooking for the rest of the holiday, because he's the only one present with the required skillset.

OP, you are a star for coming back and admitting he was right.

Just to warn you - some microwave/oven combos look like microwaves inside, with a turntable and no racks (I have one of these).

So if you're at your next holiday cottage and he starts insisting that he's going to cook a roast in what looks like a microwave... it might actually be an oven.

This would be my husband if we had the same predicament and he proved me wrong in something

My mum’s oven looks similar to your picture and does indeed have a microwave function too.
