DH insisting the oven is a microwave too. Should I LTB or wait and watch?

For context, on holiday in a cottage. First holiday for yonks. Been a long long day and everyone a bit tired so we must be generous here.

DH making a latte. Getting very rattled at the pod machine. I've tried to help but, no, he knows best. Now insisting he can heat the milk in the microwave. There is no microwave. It's an oven and grill. DH has dug his heels in and is insisting it is a microwave and is now trying to put a mug of milk in it to heat. He won't be told different.

I'm now sitting watching this unfold.

Any thoughts?

If it's an oven then presumably it has metal racks in? And you can't put metal in a microwave.

I was told two things about microwave ovens. You can't use metal and you can't boil an egg. I don't believe anything salesmen tell me so I had a few thrilling experiences with eggs and foil wrap. Then I thought about it and wrapped the egg inside the foil wrap and put it in a bowl of water with the egg submerged set the timer and guess what? The water boiled the egg quite happily without any fuss. I went to the shop and struck a blow for all women!

I’ve got a built in grill microwave and oven. It has metal racks (they are labelled as they are a different metal to the ones for the other oven). It’s looks exactly like a small oven. It does not have any kind of turntable plate. He may be right or wrong but unless you have read the manual and therefore know it’s not a microwave, you may also be wrong….

That's the shell round the outside, not on the inside, and is lined with an enamel coating, which the microwaves bounce off.

My question was tongue-in-cheek anyway.

Microwaves bounce off (are reflected by) metal too.

Re the metal in microwave thing, I saw something on TV a while back, where these two scientists (?) said that you can put smooth metal in a microwave but it's hard to know if the metal is smooth enough and that's why it's said not to do it
Yeah, Mythbusters. Smooth metal doesn't spark because there has to be a gap for the current to jump across or something like that.

There was a thread on here not long ago that established you're actually meant to put a teaspoon in liquids when heating them in certain microwaves, to prevent them from superheating.

We have a multi function that is also a microwave so it's not beyond the realms of possibility...
