To think its weird that Prince George, a 7 year old boy, came to a football match in a suit and tie?

Couldn't they put him in a casual t-shirt or a football shirt or even just a polo shirt? A full suit with a tie seems OTT especially as it wasn't an official engagement.

I think he looks lovely. My son has always worn a smart blazer with a checked shirt and jeans when going out for dinner.

Tbf Prince George isn't seen in public that much so I'm sure he's got plenty of time to wear his England t shirt and be a child.

SnowyPetals · 13/07/2021 16:04

Oh yawn. He is the hier to the throne. His life is not like most seven year olds. He was on a public engagement in an area with a dress code.

LizJamIsFab · 13/07/2021 16:22

It wasn’t weird to me, he was accompanying his father who was there in an official capacity.

Think of it like a uniform if you can’t envisage a child out of a T-shirt.

After the last match it was explained he was given the option of a football shirt or suit with England tie and chose to look like his dad. BJ could have been advised to follow his example (football shirt over smart shirt isn't wise)

He looked like the Michelin Man.

Bozza that is. Not George, who looked cute as.

Bloodypunkrockers - your question “what do you know that the rest of us don’t?” - about George becoming King - my answer would be that, unless something changes (the monarchy is abolished, he passes away, he decides to abdicate because he doesn’t want to be King) George is third in line to the throne, so after Charles and William die, he becomes King. Given that it would mean a big change in public opinion, and some major legislative change too, I would be surprised if we became a republic any time soon. That is just my opinion, of course, but I am not seeing a major public movement to abolish the monarchy. I think she meant how do you know he'll be the king of ENGLAND.
I’m a bit confused, @Bitofachinwag - I think what I said does answer that question.

I think he looked great my children always loved dressing formally for important occasions and yea it was important
But I loved his reaction to the goal and how he embraced his parents shows he’s just a loved little boy having the night of his life yes he looked sad at the end but so did all of the England fans no matter there age

Justcallmebebes · 13/07/2021 16:31

He's working

🤣🤣🤣

ShitPoetryClub · 13/07/2021 16:35

He is a beautiful boy who looks so much like his maternal grandfather, looked so engrossed in the footie too. Smile

Lucked · 13/07/2021 16:35

My kids primary (not private) has shirt, tie and blazer from day 1- DD was 4 when she started. Neither of my kids had a problem after the first day or so and will wear their tie until bath time unless I change them. I dare say the future King is more accustomed to formal wear than my kids. He didn’t fidget or tug at it so I presume he was comfortable.

I don't really see that in George, but Louis is a miniature Michael Middleton. Since the balding gene is carried on the maternal side, hopefully he'll avoid the balding Windsor gene! Michael Middleton, in his 70s, still has a great head of hair!

Thanks

That was EXACTLY what I meant.

I wondered if the poster was seeing into a future where the UK. (Clue in the word Kingdom) had been dissolved and George really would be just the king of England a d nowhere else Grin

He does indeed. Very much like his uncle Spencer too - who looked like his dad.
MrsToothyBitch · 13/07/2021 21:22

I also read he chose to wear it to look like his dad. I thought that was quite sweet. Plus the royal box has a dress code and I suppose they can't be seen to make exceptions. Also whilst he wasn't "on duty" strictly, I don't think it harms to get him in to the habits of it and lay out some expectations early.

They've released pictures of him in his football top before though- looking so, so happy and lovely, so they're clearly not averse to it. All the children look refreshingly normal "off duty". Either way, he looks like a very happy, healthy, loved little boy.
