To think its weird that Prince George, a 7 year old boy, came to a football match in a suit and tie?

Couldn't they put him in a casual t-shirt or a football shirt or even just a polo shirt? A full suit with a tie seems OTT especially as it wasn't an official engagement.

Isnt it just the same as young boys dressing in a suit for a wedding? My DS was a paige boy at age 4 and wore a full suit just like the ushers. No one suggested that he should be wearing shorts and tshirt just because he was a kid

XenoBitch · 13/07/2021 00:03

Both of his parents were in formal (ish) wear. Does it matter? Was he happy? Did he enjoy being out with his parents and enjoying the atmosphere?
Who gives a fuck what he was wearing.

Ludoole · 13/07/2021 00:04

My eldest refused to wear sportswear and trainers except while doing pe aged 6. Since then he has always chosen to wear black trousers and shirts with a waistcoat. It's what he liked. He likes the look he has. What does it matter what Prince George wears?? He looks a happy little boy!

Ghosttile · 13/07/2021 00:05

Someone should really start an AIBU to think it’s weird that the PM, a man who has £840/roll wallpaper, pulled on an England shirt over his shirt and tie?

FunnyWonder · 13/07/2021 00:08

Last thread on this subject went poof!!

Mixmeup · 13/07/2021 00:13

He looked happy, healthy and really loved.

Diverseopinions · 13/07/2021 00:16

He's showing respect to the fans and the wonderful players.

SionnachRua · 13/07/2021 00:19

Being Irish, I was supporting Italy but I felt sorry for Prince George when they lost. He must've been so excited for the game.

Probably for his own good that he didn't wear a jersey. Don't they dress those kids in formal wear for photos to minimise them being recognised in everyday life? Or is that a conspiracy theory?

really?!?! Leave the poor boy alone. I thought he looked nice, and probably wanted to look like his father.

ParsleyDill · 13/07/2021 00:25

Yes, it’s deeply tragic that his parents— or whoever makes these kinds of decisions — think the royal mythos needs to be maintained by presenting the heir to the heir to the heir for official viewings in a succession of nasty rompers, little shorts and natty knits when he’s not wearing a suit that makes him look like a small bank manager.

Ghosttile · 13/07/2021 00:29

I think they’re aware that the photos will be dragged out by the press in the future and they go for very traditional stuff that won’t date. It’s not something most of us have to worry about!

SchrodingersMat · 13/07/2021 00:43

A little boy wanting to dress like his dad? Not weird. A grown adult picking on a small child for what he’s wearing is quite weird though.

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 13/07/2021 00:59

Irrespective of your view on the British royal family - he may be seven currently but will probably grow up to be a king. He rocked the outfit and looked like his father and although there is a separate royal section dress code (for presumably adults only) he may have chosen to appear dressed like a high profile significant person and not the regular seven year old boy. It’s a smart look unlike the clown Alexander Johnson maximising the opportunity to appeal to football culture for political gain.

He's working
He really isn't.

why being Irish, you were supporting Italy ?
SionnachRua · 13/07/2021 13:14

why being Irish, you were supporting Italy ?

Because generally speaking, the Irish will back whoever plays England. Bit of craic and keeps us amused.

CoastalWave · 13/07/2021 13:17

He’s a 7 year old child.
I really don’t see the need for this.

He's not little Freddie from the local primary school - he's the future King of England!

I thought he looked super! Good for him. Such a classy family.

Bitofachinwag · 13/07/2021 13:19

Perhaps they didn't "put him" in a suit? Perhaps he wanted to wear a suit. And anyway, nothing wrong with a suit. Jeans aren't exactly comfortable either, suit trousers are normally softer than jeans.

RoseAndRose · 13/07/2021 13:21

What is unusual is that a 7yo gets to be in the Box.

Not that all those in it have to follow a dress code irrespective of their age.

King of England?

What do you know that the rest of us don't?

PomegranateQueen · 13/07/2021 13:28

Why are you so bothered about what a 7 year old wore to a football match?

RoseAndRose · 13/07/2021 13:37

Third in line to the throne and his father is president of the FA

I thought that went without saying!
