The newsletter says so, but really? I’d sent to you a friend this week for a laugh, but maybe we just don’t have the bodies/confidence for it.

@SheldonesqueTheBstard

I’m fecking sure that if I squeezed my considerable bulk into that monstrosity, that the public reaction would be boohoo.

Her boobs look photoshopped on to me!

I won't be buying it no.

I like a sturdy legsuit Grin

NiceGerbil · 12/07/2021 20:02

How does the bit in the middle stay up?

Underwire?

Wouldn't that dig in every time you bent forward?!

SunSeaSurfGin · 12/07/2021 20:09

@knittingaddict I'm glad my post cheered you up Grin

TheHateIsNotGood · 12/07/2021 20:11

Looks fantastic doesn't it? Brings back the bad memories of 1977 when DM thought I'd look great (age 15) in something similar.

Put it on, told her NO!! Yes I may have had the body but no way did I want to wear that.

I have not the slightest idea what she was thinking at all - she normally presented me with purple clothes - and she was a teacher too.

I'd sew a cross-tit, meet in the middle zip, if I lived in some parallel universe where I might consider wearing that thing.

Catflapkitkat · 12/07/2021 23:07

It's crying out for some googly eyes

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 12/07/2021 23:23

AlCalavicci · 13/07/2021 20:26

@Catflapkitkat my thoughts exactly !

tallduckandhandsome · 13/07/2021 20:51

Debenhams.com now sells all the boohoo stuff and my eyes have been opened to what young women apparently wear nowadays!

JudgeJ · 13/07/2021 22:28

Most of you are too young to remember the topless dresses of the 1960s! Working Saturdays we saw some sights in the changing rooms, must have been very chilly teetering along on a Saturday night, minus coats.

Thelnebriati · 13/07/2021 22:38

Topless dresses - isnt that a skirt? Grin

Surely a topless dress is just a skirt... 🤔
GiantWingedWaspMoth · 13/07/2021 22:39

Cross post!

I am too young but just googled it - yeesh! I was imagining a skirt with suspenders and I wasn’t far off!

I remember a short lived fashion for see through blouses.

Couldn't remember when it was, probably mid/late 60s, so I googled it. Apparently see through blouses are still a thing but in the 60s you didn't wear a bra or anything underneath.

Obviously, only a fashion that would have worked for the pert of boob.

No!!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine a dress, usually a straight skirt part, with the bodice cut out at the front, some featured a 1/3 bra strengthening, for want of a better description. Visualise a dress worn back to front with the zip open, I jest you not, I tried to find an example but even t'internet is repelled by the memory.
JudgeJ · 14/07/2021 20:53

Found this on the web to show I wasn't making it up!!!

Thats...not what I was expecting!

chaosmaker · 21/07/2021 09:13

@JudgeJ thanks for the link. Really interesting article. Probably also a fashion throwback to when arms were covered and breasts exposed but only if you weren't married. Like shop advertising :)
