OMG your neighbours are awful people! You must be so relieved though. My dog is also soft as anything and a small breed but he bolts if he sees a cat and I’m scared he might get one if it comes into the garden (I never let him off the lead in public though, ever)

I can’t blame you for wanting to move, he is utterly batshit!

TSSDNCOP · 12/07/2021 19:09

Was it a particularly small cat that was standing in a hole at the time it was attacked by the dachshund?

I've owned two dachshunds and, whilst they can be feisty, that has got to be one seriously crap cat.

In terms of cat deterrent OP I’ve got 2 lengths of fishing wire on brackets on top of my fence and across the top of my gate. It’s completely stopped all the local cats coming in the garden. They don’t like to stand on it.

Sunbird24 · 12/07/2021 21:36

If the cat wasn’t in a hole, maybe Timmy found himself some extra height…

Make sure all the other neighbours know how fucking brazen they are.cheeky fuckery of the highest order.

Mrstreehouse · 13/07/2021 07:55

For all those posters laughing that the dog is a dachshund and they can’t hurt a fly, this is simply not true. They are hunting dogs, bred to kill badgers ( which are huge and very fierce). I’m
Not saying the dog did attack the cat in this instance but they definitely can bite and attack when needed!!!

OK, SchadenfreudePersonified, sorry I quoted the other poster who said it and not you... Confused

Sorry SchadenfreudePersonified if you were being funny. I'm a bit slow on the old uptake today.

Just kidding!

Not offended at all - I've done it myself many a time. When you are skim reading it's easy to miss a post or a point that hits you forcibly a bit further down (I often make that mistake because I frequently read from the last post backwards).

I wasn't meaning to really tick you off - and I apologise if I seemed arsey.
It was a sad and pathetic attempt at humour.

(Hope we are still friends Wink)

My dog is a toy to medium size sausage dog.. Approx 10 inches high.. In the olden days before they were domesticated pets these dogs were sent down badger and rabbit holes to chase the badgers /foxes /rabbits out, just like ferrets! So the farmers or whoever could catch them in nets when the came out of the other sides of the runs. No way can these little dogs with long body's and little legs take something as large as a badger down! No way would my little 10 inch high dog take anything as large as a badger down.. Anyone who thinks otherwise has never seen the size of a badger.. They are hugh and heavy Smile

There’s been quite a few serious attacks and deaths from dachshund mauling so you’d be surprised…

SchadenfreudePersonified · 13/07/2021 18:22

Badgers are big - and they are as vicious as hell in defence of their sett - only a strong, feisty dog would be sent down to tackle them.

Dachshunds, as you will know, come in three sizes. The originals were the largest ones.

However, no-one has ever told the "toy" ones that they are too small to tackle a raging bull defend their back garden.

RandomMess · 13/07/2021 18:30

The standard dash on our street I could imagine being vicious however I have never seen that dog run. Share barely goes beyond a walk. Any excuse and she stops on her walk, dog drives past she stops, pedestrian on the other side of the road she stops.

Her chest is HUGE and her legs very short. Such a sweetheart and fiercely defends her front window.

thereisonlyoneofme · 13/07/2021 19:42

Randommess You have driving dogs in your area!!

Can you put on the link to all these attacks and deaths caused by dachshunds... I have looked but can't find any... Not one!
