My husband has been to get cctv cameras for around the house. I will feel a bit safer now.

Good idea from your dh

iloveeverykindofcat · 11/07/2021 17:25

He's a daschund!?!? This whole time I was imagining a German Shepherd or something! At the very least, some kind of terrier!

Most cats would batter a daschund tbh Confused. I'm starting to think this cat wasn't even hurt in the first place.

MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix · 11/07/2021 17:28

Hi OP, we have the fencing system from Secur-a-cat and no, other cats can’t get into our garden (including my dopey cat when he escapes through the front door Hmm). It’s the kind with poles and netting attached to the top of the fence.

ikeepseeingit · 11/07/2021 17:31

It's definitely starting to sound like that guy was trying to have you on to get some money at this point! What a horrible bully he is. Your dog won't have hurt him that much if the cat is walking around happy as ever already. I'm glad your mind has been put to rest with your husband seeing him though :)

sachaf08 · 11/07/2021 17:33

I’ve been following the previous thread from the beginning and really felt for you OP, I would have reacted exactly the same as you. Just wanted to drop in to say these updates have made my weekend 😂 your neighbour sounds absolutely dreadful

VorpalSword · 11/07/2021 17:33

I think the cat won’t try to come into your garden again. If it had a shock with a dog then it will probably steer clear.

Just ignore you neighbour and log all the incidences. It might be worth speaking to the police if it escalates again.

UnGoogled · 11/07/2021 17:55

Oh wow, OP, I just caught up with your first thread.

I reckon you're probably ok on the cat injury fakery, but I would be on edge over possible future bullshit from them. Sad How needlessly stressful.

simonisnotme · 11/07/2021 18:09

what nasty neighbours trying to scam you to pay for a non existent vet bill
bloody arseholes
hope you feel a bit better now OP

Sunbird24 · 11/07/2021 18:54

Is this your dog @Bluetoybear?

Dachshunds are very territorial - mine cornered a fox today in ref back garden

Soubriquet · 11/07/2021 19:42

Noooo this is OP’s dog

I’m glad the neighbour’s cat is ok. I can’t imagine the type of person who’d try to capitalise on an injury to their pet, especially if there wasn’t really an injury!

I have a dachshund and a cat. The dog lives in hope of making friends with the cat. The cat has none of it and either swipes at him or jumps up somewhere just out of the dog’s reach (which is most places).

Americam · 11/07/2021 19:46

This is my dachshund and the cat. Well, it’s not actually mine but it could very well be!

Is he a mini or a standard dachshund?! Just so we can get the full image on how unreasonable your neighbour is being

He sounds like an absolute bully, have you reported it all to the non-emergency police number? It might be worthwhile

Naunet · 11/07/2021 20:13

The craziness of the last thread meant that for just a second, I thought you were referring to the dog here 😄

DameFanny · 11/07/2021 20:31

Out of interest, how much money were they trying to extort you for?

pegboardsu · 11/07/2021 20:55

@Sunbird24

Is this your dog *@Bluetoybear*?

Bluetoybear · 12/07/2021 10:35

Well well well! 😎
Took dog out for his walk this morning and got talking to the lady who lives on the other side of next door neighbours...I was telling her about the 'problem' with my dog and their cat. She didn't know anything about that, but she told me the previous week they had the cat to the vets as it had an eye infection and they were moaning about the cost for seeing the vet, eye drops and antibiotics! I wonder if neighbour was just going to show me receipt for that bill being paid and try and pass it off as the one for 'badly savaged cat' Angry

MilkchopsMcgee · 12/07/2021 11:08

The bloody cheek of them! When you said they were refusing to tell you if the cat was okay I was very suspicious of any injury at all. The sheer Cheeky fuckery of you neighbours has my jaw on the floor!

The plot thickens.........
SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/07/2021 13:48

@RandomMess

I can't imagine a sausage dog managing to seriously injure any cat, they don't have the height to grab by the neck and shake!

Please do not try and cat proof your garden!!

They were initially bred to hunt badgers. They are TOUGH!
RandomMess · 12/07/2021 15:04

Yes I can see them getting down sets and fighting at ground level. That wouldn't be a usual altercation between a cat and a dog though.

Cats usually get picked up and shaken Sad

messybun101 · 12/07/2021 15:09

Ohhhh!!! DUM DUM DUMMMMMMM.......

Trudij123 · 12/07/2021 16:51

Oh that’s hillarious. I really want him to produce that invoice for you now And attempt to get the money for some chloramphenicol drops and an exam out of you… how ridiculous. Does he really think you’re going to just hand over ( only about £100 at this stage!) without seeing anything? Idiot.

I think I love you and your husband ( and very much the dog!!)
