Would you block her in?

I’m WFH and just taking my lunch so thought I’d also whip the bin out. As I do, a car crawls past and then reverses into our parking spot. (It’s our private spot and has our number sprayed in it as well as a sign saying ‘Private parking for number 30’) A woman gets out so I said “Excuse me, sorry you can’t park there” she looks and me and just wanders off up the street.

I mean, I get she might not have realised (although the sign is big and prominent) but to be told and then still walk off without moving - the cheek.

I was a bit taken aback if I’m honest so went back in the house and then I thought, no sod this and I went and knocked on the door of the house she went in, I waited a bit but no one answered!

I wouldn’t mind as such if someone was quickly dropping something off but she’s obviously stopping for a bit. The annoying thing too is the house she’s gone in has a driveway and there’s room for this visitor on it. So I’m a bit Confused to why she’s parked in our private bay.

Grrr, I can’t keep knocking as going back to work (WFH) in a bit, so would I be unreasonable to just block her in with my car? Blush I feel like I need to make a point Grin

@HaveringWavering

That is the BEST parking diagram I have ever seen on Mumsnet.
Hahaha thank you 😊 🤣

A) yes, we visit very sick/dying patients. Ever heard of palliative care?
B) no note. For the very reason that we visit dying patients and may have a medical bag with opioids, etc with us.
And no, I wouldn’t walk past someone who pointed out it was the wrong place to park; but so many posts on here aren’t stories of someone saying “this is the wrong spot”. They’re just blocking the car in.
I just feel exhausted to live in such a negative place that’s so unkind. It’s tiring watching that, even if from a distance.

MaMelon · 06/07/2021 00:02

I totally knew it was a Qashqai!!

Bargebill19 · 06/07/2021 00:04

@WutheringBites
Then switch off your phone and go and do something less boring/ tiring instead.

All the stories are if people parking in the wrong spot. - that’s is the very definition of a (car) parking thread. The rest are analogies.

@awaywiththefae When is bin day? I ask because I have a new challenge for you. Got to a pound shop and buy some wheelie bin house number stickers. Pick any number, but not your house number of that of CFNeighbour.
On bin day, under the cover of darkness apply the house number to CFN’s bin, thus making them thing someone else has claimed their bin. This will trigger a bin war to go with parking war. All while you are 😇

itsnotmeitsu · 06/07/2021 00:07

Our attached neighbour owns the drive; we have 24 hr access over it to access our property. It's a longish drive, but only for our two properties. One weekend I was planning to visit my mum in her care home, and it was a situation where I always expecting to get the call. We found that somebody had parked a car on the private drive, and although we can get in and out of our drive by gingerly passing the neighbour's car, this car was parked in such a way that we couldn't get off the drive with our car. The car was on the private property.

We had no idea who the car belonged to, and it was 45 minutes before we could get off the drive. In the meantime we'd tried to get off the drive by cutting back shrubs, etc, to create more room to move out. Eventually, whilst this was going on, a woman arrived onto the drive to get into her car and, when we said you can't park here, her response was, 'There were no parking spaces on the road.' Thankfully, at that time, I was able to visit my mum later, but it wasn't long after that I got the phone call that told me I needed to be there because she was dying. Why are so many people so selfish these days?

Snazzysausage · 06/07/2021 00:07

I'm agog,we never get anything like this in our road. Cracking diagram too. God, I've missed the CF parking threads!

MaMelon · 06/07/2021 00:10

@MegaCityOne - that is a seriously awesome suggestion Shock

OP - you have to do that!!

Today, well technically tomorrow morning!

😆 That sounds great but also something I’d totally get caught doing.

@WutheringBites I don't shout at people generally! But there's a big painted sign on the floor that says private parking house X only, and I know the ones who were using it are the neighbours visitors

Plus the entire street has free parking so you would have to drive past all that, turn a corner, and then park on top of the private writing in a space off the road. Most sensible people just park on the street! We have carers and nurses come and they never have any issues finding a spot (due to said free parking)

Sunbird24 · 06/07/2021 00:14

Watching to see when nice neighbour moves his car to leave the other one marooned in the middle of the road with its cone hat.
I did used to drive a Qashqai but I never parked like a CF or allowed any of my visitors to do so either!

@WutheringBites I sincerely hope your bedside manner is less sanctimonious than your attitude on here-I also hope as a doctor you can distinguish between a private drive and a public road

Amandasummers · 06/07/2021 02:25

I’m so invested in this now 😆

Tiredmummy2014 · 06/07/2021 06:17

Are the cars still in the same place this morning? X

IcedSpice · 06/07/2021 06:39

@MaMelon

Anyone else doubting @WutheringBites ‘s claims to being a Doctor? 🤔

Yep.

What do you mean? A Dr who can't make a sign to put in their car stating Dr on call?? Not really a Dr??
IcedSpice · 06/07/2021 06:53

B) no note. For the very reason that we visit dying patients and may have a medical bag with opioids, etc with us

Oh I see, you dont leave a note in your cat, because you're worried that someone will mug you on the off chance you may have opiates? Is this where you will drip that you are in the slums and dangerous areas.

Erm ok...surely the bag will give it away?

But do you park like a twat? And can you understand why parking in someone's private parking space is not on?

For someone claiming to be a Dr, you certainly can't read the room...

Scaredycat87 · 06/07/2021 07:02

Op you were wfh yesterday?
No wonder so many employers went there employees back in. You posted dozens of posts pretty much every single out of the day. This thread must have been either your entire focus or a best case - massive distraction

(Finally wrapping up gone midnight!)

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 06/07/2021 07:05

Id put a note on the car to say next time you park here you will be blocked in all day.

NotSorry · 06/07/2021 07:16

@IcedSpice

Leaving a note in the cat would probably be a bit pointless as no-one would see it Grin

SunshineCake · 06/07/2021 07:21

Some people don't want their drives parked on to limit damage from oil spills or you know, the humungous weight of the car they were made to withstand Hmm.
