To not shave my armpits

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 05/07/2021 13:53

I have armpits. They are hairy. Shaving causes massive irritation. Also I don’t have the energy to do them.
I have a doctors appointment today and they will be checking my breasts, under arm area as I’ve been getting some weird symptoms.
They won’t care that my pits are hairy will they?

Not in the slightest.

Thisisthemonth · 05/07/2021 13:56

how much energy does shaving your armpit really take.. Confused

ChainJane · 05/07/2021 13:56

It's OK for a doctor's appointment, whatever state yours are in they will have seen worse.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 05/07/2021 13:56

Of course it's fine. Men don't shave for theirs examinations do they? But I totally get you wondering!

Coldilox · 05/07/2021 13:57

You don’t have to shave any part of your body ever if you don’t want to.

I doubt the doctor would even register it tbh.

a lot if you have fatigue, pain or chronic ilness.
BeyondMyWits · 05/07/2021 13:58

It's fine. Lots of people don't shave their armpits.

Coldilox · 05/07/2021 13:59

More than not doing it

AnoymousCoward · 05/07/2021 13:59

They won't mind at all one way or the other.
But how do you get anti-perspirant to work properly without shaving? Maybe my hair is thicker than other people's?

Sundancerintherain · 05/07/2021 13:59

Nope, they dont care.

Thisisthemonth · 05/07/2021 13:59

but to not have the energy? that's very worrying

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 05/07/2021 14:00

Prob should have said. I have MS and fatigue is a major symptom so yeah…..it takes valuable energy, though I stopped shaving them years before my disability unless I had a doctors appointment. Same for my legs.

Vallmo47 · 05/07/2021 14:01

They are 100% less judgmental than Mumsnet. 😂 Good luck in your appointment 💗

It is the whole getting into the shower or bath if you have chronic fatigue it is a fucking nightmare, plus drying yourself afterwards and getting dressed.

Clearly you do not know anyone with this type of symptom.

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 05/07/2021 14:02

@AnoymousCoward
I use a mineral salt stick. It works better on hairy pits. Perfumed stuff makes me wheezy.

ElectricTreeLeaf · 05/07/2021 14:02

Crossed posts with you @JesusSufferingFuck22, considering no one tells men to shave their arm pits GPs must have come across them before. You are fine as you are.

OldTinHat · 05/07/2021 14:03

Do men shave their armpits regularly? Er....that'll be a no.

Christ on a bike, does it really matter that because we are women (do I have put a disclaimer here??) we have to remove every single hair on our body???

FFS...

Blossomtoes · 05/07/2021 14:03

If Julia Roberts can have unshaven armpits, I don’t think it’s a problem for you. Leave them.

Sbsh · 05/07/2021 14:03

I don't shave mine or my legs, my doctor who I've seen far too much of lately has never commented, nor would I ever expect him to, it's not like it will effect them, they deal with men all the time who dont shave.

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 05/07/2021 14:05

Thanks @Vallmo47

I would only consider shaving if it is going to bother YOU. If you'll feel uneasy and self conscious during the appointment, it may be worth it. If you're happy with not shaving it should be a non issue.

Thisisthemonth · 05/07/2021 14:05

@ElectricTreeLeaf you don't need to get in the shower, you would be washing your pits presumably at least at the sink so that you don't stink - therefore running a razor down them a couple of times each side isn't much of a stretch. and I have chronic fatigue myself so am quite aware!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/07/2021 14:05

It's not about energy, it causes irritation.Confused

OP you don't have to shave any bit if you ,the doctor won't bat an eyelid.

Flamingdingus · 05/07/2021 14:07

Leave the pits alone! Nurture the pit kittens X Seriously, the HCPs won't care and if on the odd chance they do, so what?

Considering your energy level issues and the fact that it irritates you, shaving wouldn't be the best thing to do. Hope the appt goes well and you get helpful information.
