To not shave my armpits

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 05/07/2021 13:53

I have armpits. They are hairy. Shaving causes massive irritation. Also I don’t have the energy to do them.
I have a doctors appointment today and they will be checking my breasts, under arm area as I’ve been getting some weird symptoms.
They won’t care that my pits are hairy will they?

I'm for removing hair because it holds less smell and takes approx 5 seconds to remove when u are already washing yourself .

Not true. If you wash your pits and use effective antiperspirant/deodorant you won’t smell regardless of hair.

Thisisthemonth · 05/07/2021 17:12

@Blossomtoes these days ? I know quite a lot of men who are into grooming and hair removal..

Classica · 05/07/2021 17:15

Men removing their body hair is such a turn-off. Personally speaking.

Viviennemary · 05/07/2021 17:15

Vile. But up to you. Same as not cleaning your teeth ever. Sweaty hairy armpits. Just no no no.

Maybe you do. It’s not standard to the point whereby they feel it’s expected of them though. A man with hairless pits would be a real turn off for me. And presumably you’ve read pp saying fewer younger women are doing it now?

We do WASH our armpits you know.
FlyLight · 05/07/2021 17:18

The idea that natural body hair is 'vile' and akin to not cleaning your teeth is insane. Are all men vile then? Or is it just women that aren't allowed to possess the hair that being a human being gave them?

it's nothing like not brushing your teeth, one is basic hygiene the other is personal preference. You can still use soap on hairy armpits Hmm
GrassPollenIsTheDeathStar · 05/07/2021 17:22

My GP told me it's best for me not to shave to prevent skin issues that I have. I doubt a different GP would be bothered by some hair

Thisisthemonth · 05/07/2021 17:45

@Blossomtoes ok and hairyness is a turn off to others

burritofan · 05/07/2021 17:47

Haven’t shaved any part of me in years and can’t say I’ve ever thought about it re. GPs and such. Wear sleeveless tops to work too. Only person that ever notices my hairy pits is DD, who likes to wriggle a hand in there while feeding, twist it round her finger, and yank Hmm

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/07/2021 18:01

I am dark and very hairy, and as a “project” grew my hair out in lockdown last year to see what it would be like. I did shave eventually but now go through phases of shaving/not.

I can’t believe pp likening not shaving to not brushing one’s teeth! I still shower daily and use deodorant even if I have hairy underarms, much like my DP does.

Cam22 · 05/07/2021 18:08

You should shave. It looks awful, otherwise.

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 05/07/2021 18:09

Doctor was lovely. Didn’t bat an eye. Made me more determined not to hide them away. If it wasn’t meant to be there it wouldn’t grow there. I wish I felt the same about my lady beard Confused

One is routine hygiene and the other is an individual's choice whether to remove body hair.
They're not the same at all.
It's not vile for someone to decide they want to prioritise their own comfort over society's obsession with women removing body hair.
@Blossomtoes ok and hairyness is a turn off to others
Aha! So this is the true reason. I bet you think it's fine for men though.

Thisisthemonth · 05/07/2021 18:15

@tallduckandhandsome no that's what I'm saying. some women don't like hairy men either . I don't like men full stop so couldn't care less - I don't find it attractive on myself or other women. although what I find attractive is clearly of irrelevance to most people

RealBecca · 05/07/2021 18:17

No. Not shaving is making a comeback

ItWorriesMeThisKindofThing · 05/07/2021 18:22

I prefer mine unshaved and find my antiperspirant works just fine - but I have so much more hair on one side than the other that it makes me self conscious! So annoying.

Kittykat93 · 05/07/2021 18:29

I personally wouldnt go without shaving underarms but it's up to you. It only takes 30 seconds so not sure about it being much of an effort (and yes I am also disabled with chronic fatigue before anyone starts). You dont need to start a thread about it, it's pretty obvious you dont HAVE to shave anything..

HomerSimpsonsDonut · 05/07/2021 18:30

You do you OP.
If that means leaving your body hair as it is then do it Smile I doubt people will care to be honest (I mean that in a nice way!)

thecapitalsunited · 05/07/2021 18:35

If my lady garden is anything to go by, the hair actually helps with any whiffs because it keeps the area dry by providing a greater surface area to evaporate from. It also means you don’t have to worry about ingrowing hairs causing spots or infections.

NerrSnerr · 05/07/2021 18:38

@Cam22 unless you're personally going to be looking at the OP's underarms why do you care. Medical professionals do not care whether you have hair or not.

Who wants their doctor to be turned on by their armpits?

Nicolastuffedone · 05/07/2021 18:42

Each to their own….I prefer to be hair free
