To not shave my armpits

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 05/07/2021 13:53

I have armpits. They are hairy. Shaving causes massive irritation. Also I don’t have the energy to do them.
I have a doctors appointment today and they will be checking my breasts, under arm area as I’ve been getting some weird symptoms.
They won’t care that my pits are hairy will they?

The men I know use sprays,which I cannot do due to DC's allergies/asthma.
I find my stick doesn't get through my hair after a couple of months growth. But as I said,I think my body hair is v thick- last ECG I had, the technician struggled to get the sensors to stick to my legs... Grin (and previously DH had to have his chest shaved in patches for an ECG!)

A doctor who is worried about some natural body hair is a person in the wrong profession.

lovelybitofsquirrell · 05/07/2021 19:04

Hairy armpits isn't going to matter with the examination. Is that what your asking?

Or will the doctor think less if you ?

Either way you don't have to shave your pits if you don't want to.

Thisisthemonth · 05/07/2021 19:13

@Branleuse my response was to someone who talked about being turned off by hairless men

Mischance · 05/07/2021 19:17

Leave it to grow. This strange fetish of wanting women to have children's armpits is so weird.

FindingMeno · 05/07/2021 19:21

Hairy armpits are cool.

@Thisisthemonth

how much energy does shaving your armpit really take.. Confused
Why should the OP shave? Body hair is normal you know Hmm
Thisisthemonth · 05/07/2021 19:53

@PurpleRainDancer because OP was concerned enough about having hair to make a mumsnet post about it and then stated one of the reasons for not shaving was the amount of effort it took

Ofgs. It's not about op being lazy. How much energy does checking your internal misogny take?
StrangeToSee · 06/07/2021 09:36

It’s your body. The doctor won’t care or think bad of you honestly HCPs see multiple bodies every day with varying amounts of hair.

If it bothers YOU or you’re self conscious why not get them waxed at a salon? Avoids the prickly re-growth and irritation IME.

It’s sad and ridiculous that anyone should be embarrassed or feel self conscious about a natural, normal part of their body.
Society/Gillette/ the patriarchy or whoever, have really done a number on us women haven’t they? 😞

DerisorySnort · 06/07/2021 10:15

That wasn’t a dig at you @StrangeToSee!

Somethingsnappy · 06/07/2021 10:17

Glad it went well OP! Before I read your update, I came on to say... Don't worry, I would strongly hope that a GP of all people woud know about the natural state of armpits Grin

On another note, when I was a teenager, at sixth form, there was a cool, hippy-style girl who was very popular. One day I noticed that she didn't shave her armpits. Even at the judgemental, naive age of 16, I remember that all I felt was admiration for her that she had the confidence to do that and just be herself. It changed the way I saw things.

Somethingsnappy · 06/07/2021 10:20

@toconclude... Love this! Touché! Grin
