Will you continue to wear a mask when they’re no longer compulsory?

I can’t really decide how I feel about it- as a pregnant woman with a tendency to get a bit sweaty in the face on warm days, I would like not to have to wear one whenever I’m inside a building that isn’t my own home. And I’m double jabbed so not at much risk. But then you’ve got people from SAGE and the BMA saying we should keep wearing them, and I’d imagine they know a bit better than Sajid Javid whose background is in finance.

What do you think?

YABU- I’ll continue to wear a mask
YANBU - I won’t be wearing a mask anymore.

Yes I will. I've made my own assessment of risk throughout as I don't trust the government is making decisions based on expert advice and best evidence.

I'll continue to wear them in shops and other indoor spaces especially where there's little or no ventilation.

I'll also carry on mainly sticking to outdoor socialising because in summer there's absolutely no reason not to.

Then we'll see what autumn/winter brings I guess.

I'm getting the 2.7m status bifolds in anthracite grey for our extension (see first pic) I want to order blinds which they have in 4 colours (black, dark grey, light grey and white)- second pic. There's a real lack of pictures of the blinds on actual bifolds on their website and I'm finding it hard to visualise the best colour combos. If anyone has the vufold bifolds with blinds, would you mind posting a picture with your colour choices?

Busy public transport, where you can’t stay 2m apart and you’re stuck next to people for quite a while, I still might. Anywhere else, no. I think proximity to others in, for example, a supermarket is so fleeting that the risk is minimal. And the current rule where you have to put one on to move around in pubs and restaurants but not to sit down is just stupid. I am kind of hoping that the more chilled out pubs will keep the table service though, it’s much more relaxing imo.

Ooops... don't know how I posted on here! My bifolds won't be masked Grin

If you live in the UK there is often plenty of reason not to! I live in Cumbria, and while I'm used to walking my dog in the hammering rain, the idea of wet barbecues or plates of pub food full of rainwater does not appeal. Grin

Paddingtonitspaddingtonbear · 05/07/2021 16:26

I will in hospitals/Doctors & dentist surgeries.

Spottyphonecase · 05/07/2021 16:29

I will carry on wearing them in the supermarket. Air pods in, mask on and no one approached me. Perfect

GreenWheat · 05/07/2021 16:30

No I won't be. If others want to then fine, but I am double vaccinated and testing twice a week for work. That is my part in stopping the spread.

TooBored1 · 05/07/2021 16:32

I will be.

RuggerHug · 05/07/2021 16:33

@HomerSimpsonsDonut

Absolutely will not be wearing one ever again. As soon as Bozza announces we don't have to wear one mine is straight in the bin, no question.

I wouldn't judge or pass comment should someone choose to keep wearing theirs though.

Do you really think it's the best idea to go with what 'Bozza' says over scientists/medical professionals say? Really?
UsedUpUsername · 05/07/2021 16:36

The “copy errors” with an evolutionary advantage will then proliferate. Masks reduce transmission, so reduce the risk of copy errors

Masks have not been proven to reduce transmission. Only vaccines have that ability.

Also, the viruses with evolutionary advantage are those that are less deadly, like the common cold and flu.

COVID is likely destined to become like those, not really an issue for otherwise healthy individuals (and a vaccine for everyone else).

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/07/2021 16:38

@RuggerHug the only reason I wear one because it's a legal requirement so I'm not bothered what the scientists are saying.

fluffytowelsandlavender · 05/07/2021 16:39

Nope ! Nope ! Nope!

Do people ever approach you in a supermarket? Genuine question because it never happened to me snd I want to know why would they do it🙈

OK, was just curious. Do you mind me asking why, as in is it because you don't believe them or fuck science or what is it?

StrawberrySprinkles · 05/07/2021 16:44

I’ll be wearing mine if it’s busy etc. We all have to do what we think is safe regardless of what Boris Johnson wants us to do!

I was pregnant last year (conceived in Jan, had baby in Oct) and I would say if I was pregnant now I’d definitely be wearing a mask and avoiding going out as much as possible even with the vaccine as there’s plenty of evidence the vaccines are much less effective against the new variants (delta/delta plus). I was very cautious last year and stayed at home - only going out a handful of times to places outdoors but don’t regret it at all. Considering we now know more about how bad covid is for pregnant women and their unborn babies (placenta issues, prematurity, etc) I wouldn’t want to risk it at all 😬

samsmum2 · 05/07/2021 16:45

Not a chance

Londontown12 · 05/07/2021 16:46

I will ! I’m
On medication that’s suppresses my immune system so I have no idea how well the vaccine has worked for me !! It’s each to there own choice x

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/07/2021 16:47

@RuggerHug no, I'm just not scared of Covid and most people have had at least one jab now.

Sound, thanks for replying.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 05/07/2021 16:49

Nope. My job will be so much easier without them.

Witchesbelazy · 05/07/2021 16:52

I won’t be wearing mine and the oh you’re so selfish brigade amuse me greatly I won’t be ignoring any rules I’ll still be within the rules yet you’re still frothing over it.

AuntieMarys · 05/07/2021 16:55

I won't be. I don't travel on public transport but do go out to bars/ restaurants/cafes.

OK see this I really don't get because it's never been 'the roooolz* in my mind that decided anything but what it is.
Whanganui · 05/07/2021 16:57

Yes, I love wearing mine. If you get the right one they can be really comfortable, the wrong one & every time you breath you practically swallow it.
