The way my husband eats crisps

I am in the living room. Door shut. TV on.

He is in the dining room. Door shut. Watching something on his phone.

I can hear every crunch of his crisps.

I should add he’s otherwise lovely and there’s something sweet about how he enjoys life, it’s my issue! I genuinely think I have misophonia because the RAGE is unreal

RubyGoat · 01/07/2021 15:22

If I’m not eating at the same time as DH I have to leave the room. He has a deviated septum & eats really noisily. Crunch, slurp. He also snores as he really can’t breathe through his nose. He has been told it’s bad enough to get it done on the NHS but then the pandemic happened… argh!

ExpatForLife · 01/07/2021 15:25

I have found my people.

TheVanguardSix · 01/07/2021 15:28

Mine breathes.

Sometimesonly · 01/07/2021 15:41

If you met my husband you would probably think he was perfectly normal but he eats crisps out of the packet...with a spoon. I didn't discover this until after we were married unfortunately.

Fiep · 01/07/2021 15:45

@Sometimesonly no way!!!

Have you ever told him that’s weird? Why does he do this?

Doodahtee · 01/07/2021 15:46

@TheVanguardSix 😂😂😂

Why does he do this?
He doesn't like greasy, salty hands!

CatBumJuice · 01/07/2021 15:59

Was it Kettle Chips? They're so loud!

Powerplant · 01/07/2021 16:01

This is brilliant chuckle thread thank you for chearing me up 😊😊

NotMyCat · 01/07/2021 16:03

Buy him skips only. Sorted Grin

purrswhileheeats · 01/07/2021 16:35

@Fiep

Arghh I feel this so much. Mine also crunches his ice cubes. And slurps his tea / coffee: like a really long savouring slurp followed by a satisfied sigh: “sluuuuuuuuuuuuuuurp AHHHH” He also chews with his mouth open sometimes and don’t even get me started on snack items. Luckily he’s on a diet now so there are fewer crunchy snacks, and I’m at work while he eats his lunchtime apple, thank fuck, otherwise I’d need *@LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag* ‘s patio slabs!
Oh god, my mother slurps her coffee/tea because she likes it boiling hot. I'm like 'Mum, why don't you let it cool for two minutes and drink it normally?' Confused She then gets huffy Grin

Mind you, this is the woman who thinks it's ok to take egg sandwiches on a flight Shock

everythingbackbutyou · 01/07/2021 16:36

@80sMum, I do. Not many people take it seriously though as a 'thing' that goes beyond just getting a bit annoyed at the sound of rustling bags etc. My trigger sounds give me full on jaw clenching rage.

Psuedoshoes · 01/07/2021 16:37

Genuinely why I'm single. Far easier being single than having to listen to somebody else eat Envy

dayswithaY · 01/07/2021 16:53

DH now eats crisps out of a bowl as he is incapable of putting his hand in the bag without rooting around and the rustling noise goes right through me.

Not as horrific as the obligatory finger in the mouth to loosen crisp goo stuck on his back teeth though. I'm still working on that one.

Fiep · 01/07/2021 17:10

@dayswithaY OMG THIS! I totally forgot. DH has a dodgy back tooth so after he eats certain foodstuffs he goes “SUCKKKKKK.... SCRAPE....SUCKSUCKSUCK”. He knows it annoys me so he now gets up and does it in the bathroom bless him

Doodahtee · 01/07/2021 17:16

@80sMum yeh i do have it!

I really hate tipping the last crumbs in the bag direct into the gob with the head tilted back
