My brother does this. Not a nice word to say about anybody. He had a profound effect on my confidence when I was growing up and I still sometimes have 'moments' where I realise that my behavour and thinking are a result of his negativity and bullying.

So no...I don't think you are being unreasonable. Don't let the bastards drag you down.

I don't like it when people put others down in order to boost their own fragile ego. In fact, I think it's one of the most unattractive traits in a person.

the need to be derogatory/unkind is usually rooted in poor self esteem, a compensatory mechanism to divert from low self worth or else just an utter git

I don't see the point of acting so disgusting when it really hurts other people. Does it really make a person so powerful if they can make someone else feel terrible?

I don't think it's unreasonable of you, but I find these sort of people pitiable rather than despicable. Something is missing in their own sense of self confidence for them to behave like this. Truly happy people are too busy enjoying their lives, to have the time and energy to spend all their time putting other people down.

I won't go into details.

Basically, a group of people put me down, and I feel so down right now. I had no one to defend me and it was awful. One of them in particular was really nasty and would NOT stop. It's so unfair, and they did it without even taking the time to listen to what I had to say.
