14 and my parents didn't even care

Emimummy · 28/06/2021 14:22
  1. No regrets as it has made me very independent and I appreciate everything I have worked hard for all by myself with no help or input from parents.
cupsofcoffee · 28/06/2021 14:28

I first left aged 18 for university.
Moved back in at 21 when I graduated, then moved back out at 23 to live with a boyfriend.
We split up, and I moved back home at 26.
I then met DH and moved back out permanently at 28.

We now own our own home together.

21 moved out completely. 18 to uni but home in the holidays

sillybut · 28/06/2021 14:34

Half moved out when I went to university then left properly at 21 - I didn't move home again after university just went straight on to a rented room in shared property.

merryhouse · 28/06/2021 15:05

Went away to university at 19 but came back in the holidays. Officially left - got married, changed address on driving licence, looked for jobs miles away, didn't leave stuff in bedroom - at 23 (1992).

lubeybooby · 28/06/2021 15:10

16, soon as I feasibly could

Sugarplumfairy65 · 28/06/2021 15:11

16, but I hadn't had a home since I was 9 really . I was in various children's homes until I was 16 then they said I had to go and live in a bedsit to make way for more younger children. It was difficult..

shouldistop · 28/06/2021 15:35

@Sugarplumfairy65 Thanks that's awful, every child deserves a loving home, I'm so sorry that you didn't have one.

tedsletterofthelaw · 28/06/2021 16:16

I left for Uni at 19 but officially left home when I bought my first house at 24 (almost 25)

Spidey66 · 28/06/2021 16:19

19, for a year, then 22 properly

Wrennie24 · 28/06/2021 17:44

17 for Uni. Never lived at home again.

DuchessMinnie · 28/06/2021 18:47

18, went to uni and never went back except for the first Christmas break. No regrets. It was 1989 and rent was cheap, I never paid more than £25 a week in my uni town.

Spent a year in Paris aged 20, my parents weren't in the least concerned and never phoned or visited. I can't imagine being like that with my DC.

Duskydai · 28/06/2021 19:35

I was 23 and moved in with now DH. Had lived at home whilst at uni as it was London and commutable but was itching to move out so as soon as we became serious, we looked for a new place to rent together. Seems very quick but we got married the next year!

RainbowMumzy · 28/06/2021 21:28

I was 19 when I moved from my mother's to my Dad's (very much like living alone) then 24 when I bought my first house with my now husband.

Purplealienpuke · 28/06/2021 21:40
