bananaboats · 28/06/2021 10:59

ImaHogg · 28/06/2021 11:03

26 and cried for a week when I realised I had all that housework to do. I was pampered at home!

Penners99 · 28/06/2021 11:10

16, to join RAF

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/06/2021 11:22
  1. Went to uni in my home city, then stayed at home during my first job.
fairycakes1234 · 28/06/2021 11:42

i am amazed at how many of you left home so early. I think its differenent where I am from. Dublin in Ireland. All my friends lived at home well into their 20s, I suppose one of the reasons is colleges are all within reach in Dublin so we could commute. I cant imagine my son leaving home at 18, maybe he will, (i somehow doubt it).

Lemonwoe · 28/06/2021 11:46

17, but I moved back home at 19. When I moved back home I actually spent a fair chunk of time working abroad, and then back and forwards to my boyfriend in another cities house. Moved out for good at 23

DeathByWalkies · 28/06/2021 11:52

Just turned 19, went working and travelling abroad, came back to the UK, moved to a city 3 hours away for university and never moved home again.

MunsterThyme · 28/06/2021 11:54

Went to university halls at 19 (took a gap year to work first) and never went home.
Flat shared into my mid twenties, rented a flat on my own for a bit, then met DH and bought a house together.

I imagine it’s all a bit harder these days (I’m mid 40s).

gabsdot · 28/06/2021 11:58

22, came back for a bit at 24 and then got married and left for good.

YouLookSoCool · 28/06/2021 12:04

18 to go to university.
Moved back very briefly for a few months afterwards, then left permanently at 22

bargelights · 28/06/2021 12:04

17 for university. I went back to my parents’ house for holidays the first couple of years, but after that I never lived there again. I lived with flatmates, then on my own, then with my boyfriend (now DH).

bookworm20 · 28/06/2021 12:05

18 to travel for 2 years, so not sure that counts.
officially moved out at 21.

RuthW · 28/06/2021 12:05

21 when I got married in 1989.

A2BviaCandD · 28/06/2021 12:06
  1. The day after our wedding, we went to my parents and packed all my stuff.
3catsandcounting · 28/06/2021 12:06
  1. Like a PP I had a great relationship with my parents and we enjoyed each other’s company. Most people I speak to who are surprised I stayed that long, are the ones who left home at 18 or so because they moved in with their boyfriend and had two incomes to afford a place. Much easier. I saved and bought a flat on my own and loved my independence until I met DH 4 years later.

20 bought first home and moved

Saracen · 28/06/2021 12:16

16 but it was into uni halls so I'm not sure that counts.

Mix56 · 28/06/2021 12:18

I was sent to boarding school at 10, honestly never lived at home again other than the odd week so left emotionally altho not financially, I left school at 17, & had a college grant. Lived on it in lodgings, never lived at "home" again.

Paddingtonitspaddingtonbear · 28/06/2021 12:18

21 and never went back!

Patapouf · 28/06/2021 12:26

18

Wish it had been bearable to keep living there because I might have been able to save for a house by 25. Alas!
