Oh it looks fantastic, perfect for a children’s party.

I’m hungry now too. Might get started on brunch!

MummyJ12 · 26/06/2021 11:37

Looks great Smile good luck!

RosieGirl27 · 26/06/2021 11:41

Fuck off cold chicken nuggets are definitely a thing, they’re nicer col than hot IMO.

JellyTumble · 26/06/2021 11:41

Time to spend the morning on mumsnet? Check ✅

Time to make kids party food hot and edible with a two minute bung in the oven job while the kids are here? Nope ❌

Ninkanink · 26/06/2021 11:43

Like everything else that’s endlessly argued about on MN, there will be two camps on this - cold chicken nuggets might be a thing for many people. They are also definitely not a thing for many other people.

The children won’t care.

cocoloco987 · 26/06/2021 12:06

You're the person who posted about the little unicorn gifts with a dinosaur option for the boys. You should have known after that the mumsnet reaction you'd get to your dreadfully common cold nuggets! On a more serious note - looks fab.

GiantToadstool · 26/06/2021 12:19

Cake looks amazing!

Roominmyhouse · 26/06/2021 12:37

Cold chicken nuggets are definitely a thing and are yummy! Looks fab OP!

4PawsGood · 26/06/2021 13:04

Hope it went well. Looks fab Smile

Italiandreams · 26/06/2021 13:46

I wonder if it’s a regional thing. Cold chicken nuggets were always a things growing up here, available at every buffet in the 80’s and 90’s so I wouldn’t think anything of it. Admittedly I haven’t had them for a long time but certain very normal. As people have said you get chicken bites in the fridge section, even in Waitrose and marks and Spencers!

Greenrubber · 26/06/2021 14:03

Buffets are usually served cold

WaitroseAldi · 26/06/2021 14:18

It went so well! The kids absolutely demolished the food and there was not one chicken nugget left for me to binge on ☹️ X

I bloody love cold chicken nuggets at a buffet! As do all of my family. I'm surprised people haven't had them before. Top buffet foods are egg sandwiches followed by cold pizza and cold nuggets

I'm glad the party went well OP

@00100001

You've NEVER had or even seen a cold breaded chicken product
I've seen them but would not choose to eat them. I've never been served/seen cold chicken nuggets at a party. With the pre cooked chicken things from a supermarket I would heat them. If I were just picking up things for a picnic lunch I'd buy things that are usually eaten cold.

But there's a difference between cold chicken nuggets and reheated nuggets
Yes but neither are how I would choose to eat them. If I had to then reheat in the oven but they are low effort so I'd just put them in the oven on a timer to be ready when they are needed.

I agree with you re prepping food and all the cold food would be prepped in advance so it's only a matter of heating the hot food, most places have their party food ranges to be heated at the same temperature.

It clearly is a done thing in many circles, just genuinely something I have (luckily for me) not experienced before in many, many parties.

I would expect nuggets or drumsticks, sausage rolls, pizza to be hot.
Quiche or scotch eggs hot or cold.
Cold food would be dips, carrot sticks, sandwiches, egg mayonnaise, salady things.

I would eat cold pizza at the end (to help with clearing up!) but wouldn't deliberately serve it cold.

GiantToadstool · 26/06/2021 16:17

Same here PercyPig. I genuinely cant see why you wouldn't heat them up. OPs table looks great but would make more sense if the hot food was hot...

If you're cooking at some point in the day anyway do it so the food's hot....

I'll accept other regions to me like cold chicken nuggets though 🙄.

UnreasonablyPissedOff · 26/06/2021 16:31

Same here @PercyPiginaWig! I have teen dc now & never served nor saw deliberately cold nuggets / pizza being served at the very many parties we've hosted & attended over the years..
It would be considered very odd round here.
All such food would be cooked once the kids arrive & served hot (but not scalding)
On picnics I would only ever pack things intended to be eaten cold unless we we had a disposable bbq which we only ever did once or twice anyway & then it was for cooking sausages / burgers

cocoloco987 · 26/06/2021 16:51

I would expect nuggets or drumsticks, sausage rolls, pizza to be hot.
Quiche or scotch eggs hot or cold.

So breaded protein (scotch eggs) ok cold but breaded protein (nuggets) not ok? How so?

I'll accept other regions to me like cold chicken nuggets though 🙄.

Regions? I've worked in pubs providing buffets the length and breadth of the uk (plus abroad) and all the food has been cold including pizza, nuggets, drumsticks etc.

On picnics I would only ever pack things intended to be eaten cold

You can buy them in the picnic fridge part of every supermarket (even aldi and Lidl with the smaller range of convenience type foods have breaded chicken) ready to go, intended to be eaten cold!
