@WaitroseAldi

Iv always done cold chicken nuggets lol and cold pizza lol
How lazy are you that you have to do them hours in advance instead of actually right before/during the party?

Poor kids.

EmeraldShamrock · 26/06/2021 09:03

If the party is at 11.45, people will probably be arriving from 11.30 to 12.30 and they'll want to play, chat etc so you wouldn't be doing food etc until 1 ish? So I'd wait until most people are there (12.15?) and put them in then and give them 10-15 mins to cool a bit before serving.
Sounds like a plan.
People want to relax when arriving.
Have everything ready to bung in.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/06/2021 09:03

Fuck sake, all these people clutching their pearls in horror at cold chicken nuggets have obviously never experienced the delights of purchasing a 20 box of McNuggets on a night out and eating the rest the next morning

Well I do that, but I always reheat them (and no I've never had food poisoning for the hygiene police, as it happens I've just had leftover Chinese takeaway for breakfast with rice that was in the microwave all night, as I do on many weekends without any issues).

GiantToadstool · 26/06/2021 09:04

That makes it even more of a crime to have them cold. They'll be soooo nice warm! 😁.

But genuinely if you guys eat cold chicken nuggets and think it's normal, then fine to cook now and put in fridge.

WaitroseAldi · 26/06/2021 09:05

As if I’m lazy because I have a hundred and one things to do today lol. Poor kids, I should go and buy a sushi platter from waitrose instead.

@WaitroseAldi

Iv always done cold chicken nuggets lol and cold pizza lol 🤮
It'd be our first and last party at yours.

inappropriateraspberry · 26/06/2021 09:06

Jeez, what is wrong with cold food? We don't even know the ages of these children! I can imagine plates of hot food coming out and the kids grabbing it quickly and burning their mouths! Much easier to have it cold/slightly warm. Nothing wrong with 'cold' sausage rolls if they've just been cooked. They probably won't even be cold, but room temperature, not straight out of the fridge.

Shelddd · 26/06/2021 09:06

Cold nuggets... Don't do that or you're just contributing to the british reputation in the culinary world.

EmeraldShamrock · 26/06/2021 09:07

I should go and buy a sushi platter from waitrose instead.
Some warm food will do.
Besides if you've so much to do and serve cold food usually, why post the question?

inappropriateraspberry · 26/06/2021 09:07

How many times do you see people at buffets picking over the last bits left - always cold even if hot to start with! I've rarely seen any food left at a buffet!

WaitroseAldi · 26/06/2021 09:08

They are batteeed dippers not nuggets if that makes it any better? Lol

The kids are 4 and 5.

And @EmeraldShamrock id be happy if you and your child didn’t come again if that’s your attitude :)

Hi there,
I’m an EHO so can definitely help on this one. You have two hours with hot food before you have to worry about exponential growth of bacteria. If you cook them until they are thoroughly cooked through (this is the most important part!) then you’ve gotten rid of any toxins. You can keep them in kitchen foil and they’ll be fine for up to two hours and still be safe to eat. After this time they need to be eaten or thrown.
Hope it’s a good party!

inappropriateraspberry · 26/06/2021 09:09

I hope all the children have a great time, I'm sure they'll be happy to eat the nuggets hot or cold!

GiantToadstool · 26/06/2021 09:11

Cold sausage rolls yes. (Although nicer warm they are fine cold)

Chicken nuggets etc yes you allow to cool slightly rather than straight from oven. But you normally serve fairly soon/ warm. This really cant be news to most people.

Most small children eat cold food and hot (warm) food.

EmeraldShamrock · 26/06/2021 09:12

And @EmeraldShamrock id be happy if you and your child didn’t come again if that’s your attitude.
Heat the food for goodness sake, they've bought a gift, the parents enjoy the hot nibbles at a party, don't feed your guests cold food. Sandwiches yes.

GiantToadstool · 26/06/2021 09:13

Yay for EHO!

RuthW · 26/06/2021 09:13

I would cook on the morning of the party, put in the fridge and serve cold.

If you want them hot, cook when they are needed.

princesslarmadrama · 26/06/2021 09:15

A cold finger buffet of course the nuggets would be cold. I'd start prepping and cooking things now OP.

TheCrowFromBelow · 26/06/2021 09:16

It’s a kid’s party, do people really allow 3/4 of an hour “arrival window”?
Mine had 2 hours max for the whole party I’d be a bit annoyed if almost half of that was meet and greet, what’s wrong with turning up on time and cracking on with pass the parcel?
They are 4/5 year olds, they will not care whether the nuggets are hot or cold OP so do whatever works for you. From a poisoning point of view probably best to cook closer to time.
Nuggets and pizza are what parties are about!

Longdistance · 26/06/2021 09:17

My dd is having friends round today for her birthday. I’m putting a pizza in, sausage rolls and mozzarella sticks when they arrive at 1 so the food is hot and fresh.
Cold nuggets? SMH.

9nine · 26/06/2021 09:17

Always do a a cold buffet party tea for my children’s birthdays. I cook the sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, pizza and nuggets/goujons the morning then cool and in the fridge till served. Then they have the leftovers the following day too! We must all be weird cos they all love it cold!

drpet49 · 26/06/2021 09:23

Personally I always cook stuff just before I want to serve. There is nothing worse than cold sausage rolls, chicken nuggets etc.

princesslarmadrama · 26/06/2021 09:23

Imagine the rich folk on here being served cold finger food oh the horror, ffs!

Hallyup6 · 26/06/2021 09:23

Supermarkets sell cold chicken bites. How the heck is a cold chicken nugget any different? I'd serve them warm, personally, but each to their own. Kids won't care and they won't get food poisoning either, as long as you stick them in the fridge.
