Can’t say I’ve come across cold nuggets at a kids party but they really don’t care at that age. It’s better than worrying the food is too hot and they might burn themselves.

PercyPiginaWig · 26/06/2021 10:07

Cold chicken nuggets sound grim.

Just heat the food at the time that it's needed.

MIL always does things in advance and reheats and it is not pleasant. DH agrees before I'm accused of MIL bashing.

4PawsGood · 26/06/2021 10:11

I’m really confused by the question. What do you normally do with leftovers?

UnChatNoir · 26/06/2021 10:15

No, cold nuggets are not a thing. I think you’ll have a lot of unhappy children if you serve them cold chicken nuggets

Errr yes they are?

MachiaNelly · 26/06/2021 10:17

Imagine the rich folk on here being served cold finger food oh the horror, ffs!

Rich folk? Because they prefer warm food? Everything tastes better warm than fridge cold. Especially junk food.

MachiaNelly · 26/06/2021 10:25

Does anyone really want a party tea now?

No, I've just had a bacon & egg sandwich. Give me a couple of hours.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 26/06/2021 10:30

@ChipsAndKetchup

Who eats cold nuggets?! Confused
🙋‍♀️
WaitroseAldi · 26/06/2021 10:33

Well I can confirm with they taste lush.. don’t worry they are next to the hummus and carrot sticks

You've NEVER had or even seen a cold breaded chicken product Confused
cocoloco987 · 26/06/2021 10:35

If they are to be eaten cold you can cook them the night before. Whenever you make them cool then refrigerate. I doubt you're going to want to be timing hit sausage rolls and nuggets whilst organising party kids

00100001 · 26/06/2021 10:37

@Mummyoflittledragon

What is so difficult about serving food warm. I’m presuming this isn’t a massive party, Covid regs and all…
Because she might be having to herd a group of small children towards the food area, or leading an activity.

So it's a million times easier to have all the food ready to go, rather than having to preheat oven, put them in, keep an eye on them, get them out etc.

I'm all for making life easier. All good prepped and on serving trays, covered etc. Then it's case of just unwrapping/getting out of fridge etc.

cocoloco987 · 26/06/2021 10:39

Also amused at the faux horror. You but come sausage rolls and chicken bites in the refrigerator section of a supermarket aimed at picnics and parties. I see them at every picnic going. Why is it different just because you've cooked them yourself?

cocoloco987 · 26/06/2021 10:39

*buy cold

Well I never eat anything like that because they are horrible. Really unpleasant.
cocoloco987 · 26/06/2021 10:42

Oh and in the lunch section crispy chicken wraps which are basically chicken dippers with salad in a wrap. I make my own and It's dd's favourite packed lunch. I cook them the night before

cocoloco987 · 26/06/2021 10:43

Well I'm poor and wc as are my family and friends.
We always serve warmer food at parties for DC.
I go by the play centre.
If the party was in a play centre they'd serve warm food and it would be expected.

That would depend if you'd booked hot meals or a cold buffet- however the chef in a okay centre has time to do this while other people organise the party

Ninkanink · 26/06/2021 10:44

Lol is not punctuation.

Sausage rolls are fine to serve cold.

If you’re planning on serving food straightaway when the children arrive then put the nuggets/dippers/whatever on about half an hour before. Then they’ll have cooled down a bit once the children are going to eat. Otherwise put them in about half an hour before you plan to serve the food. Go ahead and do the sausage rolls now. Aren’t they already cooked though? Or are they frozen ones?

cocoloco987 · 26/06/2021 10:46

Clearly lots of people do though or there wouldn't be half a supermarket aisle dedicated to it

00100001 · 26/06/2021 10:47

@BarbaraofSeville you sound like a good snob.

Nothing wrong with a cold sausage roll...

But there's a difference between cold chicken nuggets and reheated nuggets.

Good for you

Ninkanink · 26/06/2021 10:52

(Apologies for referencing the ‘lol’. I usually try not to but more than a couple of times and it just grates a little too much and this time it got the better of me. But it’s really not relevant so I should have just let it go!)

Don’t worry too much about the food. It’s all good and the children will love the party I’m sure!

Greenrubber · 26/06/2021 11:09

Cold sausage rolls are so much nicer party size ones anyway

I would have cooked them last night let them cool at room temperature then put them in the fridge and served them when the kids are ready

They won't go soggy if they are left to cool properly

And it's a buffet how much hot food do people serve to kids at a buffet?
Sandwiches on the othe rhand I would make as fresh as I could

Paperyfish · 26/06/2021 11:09

Hot or cold chicken nuggets ok I reckon. We had my dad’s wake at a pub owned by an Italian family. They said they’d do traditional English buffet ( why not Italian? I don’t know) anyway, they deep fried mini pork pies and served them hot. Was most odd. I’m not sure pork pies are a thing in Italy!

Haenow · 26/06/2021 11:17

I’m really hungry now. Grin
