That is all.

So much for "be kind".

Babdoc · 26/06/2021 08:53

I am not defending Hancock’s behaviour, but I do think it rather ridiculous to demand the sacking of anyone who has an affair.
As a retired doctor, I can assure you that our hospitals would be severely depleted of both medical and nursing staff if that were the case! And I imagine the same would apply to many other workplaces.

SueSaid · 26/06/2021 08:54

He needs to resign, he won't recover from this and looks utterly ridiculous.

That said I do think it is hugely concerning that apparently covert cameras can be set up in ministers offices and footage sold to tabloids. Doesn't appear to me much in the way of security going on.

Fallsballs · 26/06/2021 08:54

“ be kind” is a load of hyperbole shite.

SueSaid · 26/06/2021 08:56

'I am not defending Hancock’s behaviour, but I do think it rather ridiculous to demand the sacking of anyone who has an affair.'

In a pandemic though with the health minister lecturing us on social distancing etc, it is behind hypocritical and makes him look like an utter fool.

supermoonrising · 26/06/2021 08:58

These Tories think they can cling on to their jobs because they can at least hope that the right wing British media may get bored and move on after a few days or a couple of weeks. It often does. Whereas if and when Labour politicians get caught in the act they know for sure that they will never ever be allowed to “move on” and it will be refereed to every time they appear and, furthermore, reappear as further newspaper headlines at the time of subsequent General Elections.

sashagabadon · 26/06/2021 09:00

It’s given me a good laugh, some of the memes are hilarious. And he is a Wally but I can’t get too over excited about it generally. I only feel sorry for his wife and kids.

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 26/06/2021 09:01

Lots of people are in careers where they advise one thing and do another, they’re all hypocrites. We shouldn’t sack all the oncology nurses that smoke should we? I don’t see why he should loose his job over this?

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 26/06/2021 09:01
@TruelyonelastSchlep I can see what you're trying to do here and mangling spectacularly GrinGrin
Yep

I got it 😀

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 26/06/2021 09:01

The memes are funny but his wife and kids are being dragged through this.

supermoonrising · 26/06/2021 09:02

@Babdoc
I think it’s more about the fact that he broke his own guidelines. Also one of the top ministers in the country creeping around cheating on his wife just isn’t a good look during the biggest global crisis since WW2. Mind on the job and all that.

supermoonrising · 26/06/2021 09:03

@Willwebebuyingnumber11
don’t see why he should loose his job over this?
Because he’s an incompetent prick who isn’t even trying to focus on the monumental task at hand.

SueSaid · 26/06/2021 09:04

'Lots of people are in careers where they advise one thing and do another, they’re all hypocrites. We shouldn’t sack all the oncology nurses that smoke should we?'

True but it is different when the person issuing the rules (much of this wasn't just health advice like eat 5 a day) actually breaks them. I've supported government throughout but this shows a mammoth lack of judgement and for that alone he should go tbh.

supermoonrising · 26/06/2021 09:05

He needs to be investigated by the police as he himself said should happen to Neil Ferguson.

itsgettingwierd · 26/06/2021 09:09

@MaryGubbins

She’s got a good looking millionaire husband!

It’s terrible the opticians being closed all year - this is where it lands you?

There or Barnard Castle.

Agree OP. And it's very true about decency and truth. I'm beginning to despair at the general morals of a huge amount of our society.

And a government who is actually scared enough so care so don't want those voting by requesting ID.

sashagabadon · 26/06/2021 09:09

@VariantL1130

Tin foil hat time.

In the video that has been posted by a certain undesirable newspaper, our protagonist, Matt, the man who looks like your sister's first boyfriend with a car, looks down briefly at the carpet and positions himself to stand on what looks like a mark on the floor.

He is now in the prime position to be caught by the CCTV. He engages Gina, an old family friend, and does his best to "make it look good", hence the butt pinch. She's a bit reluctant but she's going along with it because he's a friend and he needs this favour.

Later, he goes to Boris and says, "See Boris, you're not the only one whose a hit with the ladies. You've proven that having affairs is no barrier to getting to the top. This is going to see me on the doorsteps of Number 10 one day. Now who is fucking hopeless?!"

Do you know, I was wondering this but wondering why he would upset his wife like that. Maybe it is all a set up. It’s seems so unlikely otherwise. Gina is an attractive woman, what would she see in Matt?! The mind boggles. Could it be a test for Boris? I mean he can’t really sack a minister for doing what he has done himself. But why would Matt take such a risk? Two days ago I would have put my mortgage on Matt Hancock being the least likely man ever to have an affair. Luckily for me this bet wasn’t available so my mortgage is safe Grin Imagine being the security officer viewing that on cctv. Your mouth would have been open! But cameras are everywhere and the chances of a couple of security guards to be watching that one at the exact time to witness the scene live are tiny so begs the question, how did they know it had happened.
GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 26/06/2021 09:11

The hypocrisy is beyond spectacular.

However, I'm still trying to work out what it was about Hancock's insipid air of baffled incompetence that made Gina Coladangelo think "Mmmm, I want a piece of that...

Ijustknowitstimetogo · 26/06/2021 09:14

Good lord I’ve just watched the whole video! They’re all over each other like teenagers behind the bike sheds.

@AlecTrevelyan006

There are people out there who cried themselves to sleep because they could not spend a few hours with a loved one who was dying. Relatives who weren't allowed to go to a care home to say goodbye to somebody one last time.

There are business who went to the wall, jobs and livelihoods lost. Children kept away from school and their friends, families seperated for months and months. Life brought to a standstill, Christmas cancelled, joy something that we used to have.

Why? Because people stuck to the rules, they did what they were told by this despicable government, and this small fraction of a Prime Minister.

Yet we have Hancock, breaking those very same rules. It just beggars belief. I don't care who he shagged, but I do care that someone at the very height of Government, the health secretary during this country's greatest healthcrisis, decided that rules were for others and that they didn't apply to him.

You can keep your memes and your funny little videos. This isn't funny, it disgusts me.

Well said.
Nappyvalley15 · 26/06/2021 09:19

Agree Alec.

Ijustknowitstimetogo · 26/06/2021 09:22

*He’s cheated on wife (not sackable but disgusting).
*Hired someone he’s having an affair with.
*Behaved inappropriately in government offices whilst in a position of responsibility.
*Broken social distancing rules, that he made.
*Risked jeopardising the credibility of guidance.

Nothing Boris hasn’t done himself I suppose, he seems to like surrounding himself with dodgy people. Why? He keeps them around until they turn against him.

OP posts:
MunsterThyme · 26/06/2021 09:24

The people running the country are shameless. I cannot understand why anyone voted for this shower of immoral snakes. Depressing.

As a retired doctor, I can assure you that our hospitals would be severely depleted of both medical and nursing staff if that were the case! And I imagine the same would apply to many other workplaces.

You've completely missed the point.
It's not because he had an affair; it's because of the advice he was giving at the time and the fact he'd said that someone else in similar circumstances should be prosecuted.

(So, a retired doctor, eh? Who'd have known?)

WeeSisters · 26/06/2021 09:32

And that he employed his girlfriend using public funds.

NotTheCatsWhiskers · 26/06/2021 09:44

So all we have to do now is say ‘sorry’ and everything is ok. No more fines then.
