@the80sweregreat

Who hid the camera in the smoke alarm? ..
Whoever it was I reckon Johnson knew it was there. I think he's been fully aware of this for ages.
Mummyoflittledragon · 26/06/2021 13:16

@StarryStarrySocks

Ken Clarke doesn't have Twitter - that's a parody account.
Bugger. It is, missed that. I could totally imagine him doing this though. I like his sense of humour.

I remember a time when politicians were half decent, whatever your politics, Ken Clarke, Ed Balls, Ann Widdecome, even Tony Blair and Thatcher are far superior to this rabble. Maybe it is also partly because I’m just getting older and seeing too many flaws in these people and social media hasn’t helped!

Remember Lord Sewell in his red bra and the ladies of the night? Front page of Sun .

Think he needs a part in the film .

Not supporting him in anyway but those who sit on high horses take a tumble now and then .

No?

I gotta say, you need to be VERY attractive to carry off a red bra.

Simply is this the man to look to save lives and livelihoods in an ongoing medical pandemic which so far has been a deliberate/indifferent careless hopeless comedy of “world beating” errors ie lack of PPE when initially most needed, dodgy deals with mates/family members, “care” homes mass manslaughter, unfit for purpose Track and Disgrace etc etc etc for starters!

Is it not a slight touch hypocritical for those of us who followed their officially dictated rules!? Not hugged granny etc. This is a trust issue - can you trust this “leadership” to do the right thing for the interest of all?

ilovesooty · 26/06/2021 13:21

@TheoMeo

I wonder if it will lead to more breaking lockdown recommendations - with the poor police having to deal with the anger whilst MH sails along in his ivory tower.
Of course it will. It gives Johnson the excuse to open the country up and be able to blame someone else if it goes wrong.
Blossomtoes · 26/06/2021 13:22

@TheoMeo

The next by election is Batley and Spen 1st July. Kim Leadbetter, Jo Cox's sister, is standing for the Labour party - this constituency hasn't had an MP for years, - maybe something to do with the new boundaries - last MP was cons. I would imagine Labour will smash it.
That’s not true. Tracy Brabin was the last MP, she’s now a Labour mayor. George fucking Galloway is doing his damnedest to screw that by election up.
bollihigh · 26/06/2021 13:23

There so exists the sex video and dubious creatures must be figuring how they can monetize it before the spooks close in. Whoever did it and my money's on a pissed-off civil servant they will get off in any trial as it would be an unusual jury that wouldn't buy the public interest defense. Their inside story would be worth a few hundred thou as well no doubt. This sleazy bunch of corrupt clowns deserves a sleazy bunch of clapped-out worn-out grudge-bearing officials ready to pour the bucket of shit over their heads - but what did we do to deserve this ?

I think he seemed quite natural. She didn’t. Weird.

Almost like there is a power imbalance.

LucindaT73 · 26/06/2021 13:25

The minister for health behaved in a grossly sexually inappropriate way at work

'Sexually inappropriate at work' implies this was abuse with an unwilling person.

Goodness there are some ivory towers types here today.

You must have led a very sheltered life if you have never come across office love trysts, or relationships of any kind between colleagues (leaving aside the infidelity bit.)

I can't stand Hancock as I have always felt he was a) too young and inexperienced for the role and b) out of his depth all along.

However, the parsimonious claptrap here is something else.

Yes, his 'affair' if he's had one is wrong.

Yes, he broke the rules (and yes he ought to go ) but just as thousands on people here have said they have done for months.

Terrible hypocrisy all round and not just from MH.

BJ doesn't want him to resign as there is no one else to do the job other than Gove and we know where that would end up.

LizzieSiddal · 26/06/2021 13:26

The body language in that video is odd though - particularly from her right at the end, when she rather formerly steps back and links her hands behind her. Having just been caught up in the throes of passion it seems out of sync with the situation.

There could have been people on the other side of the door, maybe she was worried about someone walking in?

Clavinova · 26/06/2021 13:26

Oliver Bonas stores are full of overpriced s...

I'm wearing one of their T-shirts now. Grin

Don’t think any country has done particularly well. Everyone is learning . Hindsight is great for the self righteous.

Hopefully we’ll be better prepped for the next pandemic and MH will be long gone.

merrymouse · 26/06/2021 13:30

Yes, he broke the rules (and yes he ought to go ) but just as thousands on people here have said they have done for months.

And millions of people haven’t broken the rules, even though this caused huge personal loss.

Blossomtoes · 26/06/2021 13:32

There are plenty of people outside the current cabinet who would do a far better job. They won’t get it because they’re not under the PM’s thumb.

skodadoda · 26/06/2021 13:33

@Chickpeasorchips

Having seen that cringe video (don't watch, you can't unsee it) and seen some of what tomorrows headlines will be, my bet is that he'll have resigned by Monday.
Yes, get your bucket ready:-

HEALTH WARNING!,

Wanttocry · 26/06/2021 13:35

'Sexually inappropriate at work' implies this was abuse with an unwilling person.

I disagree, something consensual can still be inappropriate.

BJ doesn't want him to resign as there is no one else to do the job other than Gove and we know where that would end up.

Christ, what a sorry state of affairs where MH has to stay because Boris thinks there are no other options (despite calling him fucking useless). Does he not think any of his MPs are even vaguely competent.

Rosehip10 · 26/06/2021 13:38

If two civil servants on DHSC were caught doing this, or indeed shagging in the office (as the rumours that Hancock was) then they would be disciplined (bringing department/civil service into disrepute etc). It is disgusting that a minister and an "aide" can act thus with nil consequences.

Maggiesfarm · 26/06/2021 13:39

Thanks for that, skoda. Eeeewwww.

I just read: "The PM considers the matter closed".

Frankola · 26/06/2021 13:40

Whilst I do think this is a genuine affair that has likely been going on a long time I reckon those in Boris' gang have been building all the information they can on this guy for a while to use him as the scapegoat for all that's gone wrong with the covid government.

The fact that covid is a total piece of shit who broke the covid rules as well as his marriage vows all in one go is just the icing on the cake

MothExterminator · 26/06/2021 13:44

Nice. Having an affair with an aide whilst people are sitting alone at funerals. Due to rules that he implemented. And all whilst he condemned other people (like Ferguson) for breaking the rules.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/15391941/hypocrite-matt-hancock-neil-ferguson-covid-affair/amp/

And quite inappropriate that the brother of his mistress is an executive with a company which got lots of NHS contracts.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/news.sky.com/story/amp/matt-hancock-affair-aide-gina-coladangelos-relative-has-top-job-at-company-with-nhs-contracts-12341789

And completely separate, both Matt and Gina are absolute scumbags for cheating and I feel so sorry for the children caught up in this. Aren’t they school aged? It will be awful to go to school when everyone have seen one of your parents kissing someone else at the front page of a newspaper.

PerkingFaintly · 26/06/2021 13:45

@LucindaT73: However, the parsimonious claptrap here is something else.

Spoken like a proper nu-Tory, who has no objection to profligate public spending as long as it goes into their mates' pockets. How dreadful that MNers should care when public money is being spaffed on ministers' chums.

Or, did you think that word meant something different?Grin

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 26/06/2021 13:46

In the real (Covid) world - any inappropriate liaisons (mutually consensual or under undue influence) in any workplace other than the Westminster inner circle circus would be tantamount to potential instant dismissal claims on grounds of serious breach of contract of employment while on work premises within paid employment business hours. However their job description and indeed employees selection procedures may be a variant of this standard theme to perhaps positively discriminate/favour mates, former lovers, donors and future potential employers etc etc.

beveroni · 26/06/2021 13:49

Less Matt Hancock more Matt Hand-Arse.

Like he was kneading bread Blush

Clavinova · 26/06/2021 13:50

And quite inappropriate that the brother of his mistress is an executive with a company which got lots of NHS contracts.

The link states;

A spokesperson for PHL said: "PHL has been operating for over 11 years and at all times has secured contracts through the robust tender and procurement processes put in place by local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

"At no time have any contracts been awarded outside of these rigorous processes and no contracts have ever been awarded by the Department of Health and Social Care."
