This was shared in a school FB group for parents, I said I thought it was inappropriate for the group since it's meant for discussing school related things.

Who are the twats that repost this kind of crap on Facebook? I just don’t understand the mentality

Sally872 · 25/06/2021 11:52

It isn't funny for any chat. It is irrelevant that it was a school based chat.

bookworm20 · 25/06/2021 11:55

WTF.
I literally have no other words for that.

AlfonsoTheMango · 25/06/2021 11:56

Not funny.

Blossomtoes · 25/06/2021 11:59

It’s deeply unpleasant and whoever posted it clearly misjudged their audience.

kindaclassy · 25/06/2021 12:01

I’m kind of waiting for the people who like these things to die out.

people with a different sense of humour as yours? You're going to wait a very long time...

Not only not appropriate but I think that might be a safeguarding issue.

Seriously? That’s a huge over reaction.
Soubriquet · 25/06/2021 12:38

Those who have found it funny or amusing, could you please explain how?

I mean, I like dark jokes at times but this just isn’t funny to me

SaltAndVinegarSandwiches · 25/06/2021 12:39

The kind of person who posts this to a school chat is blatently the kind of person who wamts people to get offended so they can roll their eyes and complain about 'snowflakes' not having a sense of humour. Even if you thought it was incredibly erudite and witty (which it isn't) it clearly isn't relevant on a school facebook group so they're just trying to be controversial.

I don't think it's relevant anyway.

Even if you did find it funny, and why not, it's pretty obvious a parent group is not really the best place to post that.

They are not the place for joke or banter or any of that stuff, and should be for school-related issues only. Saves time for everybody.

RampantIvy · 25/06/2021 12:52

I don't find it offensive, it is just deeply unfunny, and I think less of anyone who thinks that rape "jokes" are funny.

And I find Billy Connolly one of the funniest comedians ever.

The fact that you find it funny @Rachelheels says a lot about you. You really do need to grow up.

LolaSmiles · 25/06/2021 12:55

Rachelheels
The trigger warning suggestion is so that those who wish to avoid a topic, such as rape, know to scroll ok by.
Why does someone need to get a grip for suggesting that others may want advance warning about content regarding sexual assault?

And why does it bother you that someone might want to avoid reading about rape references?

Hmm
MumBowJumBow · 25/06/2021 12:59

Oh @Rachelheels, how utterly tedious it must be being you.
Do you really have nothing better to do than try and wind people up?
Dull, childish and very, very predictable sadly

Not only not appropriate but I think that might be a safeguarding issue.
In what way?
Godmothered · 25/06/2021 13:35

@KeepingTrack

I actually don’t even see it as a rape joke….
How don't you!? It literally mentions the words rape and raped multiple times together with shafted and screwed! The wording is disgusting and highly offensive to people who have been sexually assaulted and raped!
Mousetown · 25/06/2021 13:50

@KeepingTrack

I don’t find it offensive nor do I think it’s disrespectful towards rape victims 🤷‍♀️

I am not sure it has a place in a group for school though.

How about if I tell you that as a rape victim, when I read this post, I felt physically sick, especially the use of the language and the fact it uses rape as some sort of punchline to a joke. It even made me well up a little. Then to read a pp say that anyone who gets upset about it is a “snowflake called Karen” (who no doubt will be along in a minute to point up this post triggering my PTSD proves her point)

The biggest kick in the teeth. I am a rape victim called Karen.

Fucking hilarious.

Eskarina1 · 25/06/2021 13:57

Mousetown I'm so sorry it's triggered that reaction for you.

RampantIvy · 25/06/2021 14:04

@Mousetown I'm so sorry. I think it might be appropriate if several mumsnetters report the t*l who said this and get her posts deleted.

Thankfully it looks like MN are already on the ball with deleting her posts x

SmellThat · 25/06/2021 14:36

I'm so sorry @Mousetown Flowers

LolaSmiles · 25/06/2021 14:43

Sorry to hear your experience Mousetown.
It's a shame that in 2021 there's people who think jokes about sexual assault are OK, and chose to downplay the effects that these jokes might have on survivors.
