Setting aside the obvious point about doing this during "office time", nepotism, potential corruption in use of public funds and the blinding question - who leaked this footage and how did they manage to do that? - i think one clear point is this:

it sends the message to married men up and down the land that all men do this, it is totally normal, from the PM to all of his government, all married men cheat. It is holding up this example for all to see.

Aside from the morality of it, and the "chumocracy" aspects, it is a pretty stupid move professionally. His future career in government was in doubt before this and I would say it is now definitely over. Although having said that, it is a tricky one for Boris, as he will be accused of hypocrisy if he sacks him. I suspect the PMs team will be exploring other reasons to sack him right now should he not proffer his resignation immediately.

More than anything, I find the arrogance of his behaviour quite shocking to be honest. To be conducting an affair when you have been entrusted with the nations wellbeing during a global pandemic indicates a lack of seriousness at the very least.

How do we know what the recruitment process was? Isn't it rather offensive to suggest she only got the job because of who she sleeps with? I don't know anything about her really, but she does seem to have a proper professional background. Let's not do that to women.

From my Googling, it looks like everyone except the Churchill Estate believe it, with evidence presented in numerous newspaper articles.

I agree with pp - when you have crushes on people at work, your mind is def. not on your workplace at all.

I have nothing but contempt for every single one of the whole sorry lot who are allegedly running the country, but you know and I know that nothing will happen because of this. MH will not be seen around for a while, and the government will do what it always does and not mention it for a couple of days before declaring it's all done with and we should move on. Then they will give away more government money to more mates and carry on as before. No-one will be sacked and most certainly no-one will resign. I am so depressed that I am saying this and genuinely believe it. And that people still vote Tory.

As previous posters have said, the real question is what are they distracting us from?
