Inspired by the recent thread about places with a strange vibe - which places have you been with a good vibe?

Some I can think of:

Bognor Regis and the surrounding area, in fact much of West Sussex

Frome

Warminster and the nearby villages

South London

Scotland West Coast and North Coast

New York City - love its energy

Southampton

Barcelona for me. I’ve been lots of times and I love it so much. I get goosebumps thinking about it.

theyoungishman · 19/06/2021 10:33

Perth, Western Australia.. just love it! Sunniest capital city in the world 😎

FrankButchersDickieBow · 19/06/2021 10:36

Newborough in Wales. It is absolutely magical.

If we weren't already married, I would want to get married there.

Also Anstruther in Scotland. Cellardyke in particular. Positive vibes everywhere there. Felt special when we went on holiday there.

Dogmum40 · 19/06/2021 10:45

The Lake District.. I do a lot of fell and mountain walking up there and as soon as you reach the top the air clears and it’s suddenly goes silent and still! Yes there’s others tourists up there (myself included) but there’s something about being on top of the fells and mountains that I don’t feel anywhere else.

I’m lucky to have travelled all over the world to some truly magnificent places but for me the peace and tranquillity lies in the Lakes, I’m from Derbyshire and I’m lucky to have the Peak District on my door step and depending where I walk I do get the same feeling in some of those places too just not to the extreme calm I feel in the lakes

Hawaii, more so Maui
Seychelles, La Digue is a very chilled out place
Swanage in Dorset
Lulworth in Dorset
Greneda
Mauritius
St Lucia
Riviera Maya
Drove the US West Coast and everywhere we stopped had a great vibe, lovely people, gorgeous locations.
Banff and Jasper, again lovely people and beautiful places

I loved La Reunion as a place but I didn’t really feel welcome, like the locals didn’t want tourists.

dogistoobigforthesofa · 19/06/2021 11:04

Byron Bay in Oz
Nara in Japan
Bray in Ireland
Strangely (as most people find it stressful), I loved Cairo.

Brainwave89 · 19/06/2021 11:06

Norfolk, just far enough down the coast to avoid the crowds and before you reach the Yarmouth drag. I know some lovely places... but I am not telling.

Trying not to be an arse but I think a lot of these answers are to do with being somewhere without having the everyday stresses. Most of the time actually being on holiday. For me (and places I have lived or been to without the holiday vibe) are...

Hastings (lived here) Especially St Helens Park, the Old Town and the castle area)

Brighton (lived here too albeit in the 90's)

Scarborough - I think it's such a beautiful town

Boxhill - I lived near here. It just smells and feels amazing

Greasbrough Dam near Rotherham of all places. (Lived very close)

Lovenahla · 19/06/2021 23:40

Barnet
Enfield
Clacton on sea
Romford

South gives me a bad vibe though maybe just the parts I been to

gillybombilly · 19/06/2021 23:57

“funinthesun19”

El Campello - we have been going for the last 35 years on and off and eventually bought a holiday a home there. I agree it is a fantastic place.

Yousexybugger · 20/06/2021 00:04

Ilorin in Nigeria, Sicily, the Dorset and West Sussex coasts, Ottawa, a lot of SW London. Bishkek. The little estuary towns in Essex. All these places have felt very homely and welcoming to me.

Milford Haven - not somewhere I'd expected to like, but it had a lovely vibe.

I agree with Liverpool, but would extend that to much of the surrounding area, including much of Cheshire and West Lancashire. Just such a happy area, in general.

Leicester is a fantastic little city - so much to do, and everyone is so friendly.

I got very good vibes from Montserrat in Spain.

Zotter · 20/06/2021 02:17

Southampton

I lived there for a couple of years, it felt oppressive and ugly.

UnwantedOpinionBelow · 20/06/2021 02:19

Manchester!

Zotter · 20/06/2021 02:22

I loved Grenada
