Apparently no one can ever get it right on here.

You can't make noise too early, too late or in the afternoon when next door are enjoying their garden, because you should've known better and jet washed your decking at 10am Confused

@KindleAndCake

In my 20 years of living here, I've never heard anyone else in my neighbourhood mow lawns this time of night. It was loud and annoying. People just don't do that, why would you? If it was a common thing to do and so accepted I would've heard it more. Those of you that shrug it off make me laugh.
But with respect that's a pretty small sample size. In other areas it could well be more common. I can see given your circumstances its annoying but if it's one of the only times he can do it and he's still before the 11pm cut off time then you might just have to grin and bear it. Also it's (hopefully!) not going to be every night.

Yabu.

It’s a one-off. Depending on where you are the sun doesn’t start to set til about 9:30pm. Most young children are already asleep and when did 9:30pm become late night??

Drunkenmonkey · 15/06/2021 14:26

How dare he. Everyone knows the cut off limit for lawn mowing is 9.29.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 15/06/2021 14:30

After 9am in the morning and before 9.30 on a evening is reasonable imo.

LizzieW1969 · 15/06/2021 14:37

It wouldn’t bother me a bit. It really isn’t all that late and it has been too hot during the day recently.

After 9am on a weekday? Most people are gone to work by then, or these days working at least, whichever room in the house that may be.

@tornadosequins

I also quoted Which, but you ignored that bit

Mothership4two · 17/06/2021 12:40

OP we have also lived here for over 20 years and no-one would do that. Because it is INCONSIDERATE.

I think a significant group of MNers come on just for an argument

Xmasbaby11 · 17/06/2021 12:43

that seems fine. 9.45 is not late. It's not normally a very loud noise .. I could go to sleep listening to it.

Notebooksarefabulous · 17/06/2021 12:45

Its annoying and its late but its nowhere near as annoying as my neighbours who regularly play loud music in the garden all day until the wee hours. On saturday they were loud from 8am until 2.30.

As others have no doubt said yes noise at 9 45 is annoying but had he done it in the daytime no doubt someone would have moaned it woke their sleeping baby etc. At least mowing the lawn is necessary. Billy Joel, Chuck Berry, Abba etc at 1am 2am are not.

AnAwesomePossum · 17/06/2021 16:51

Forget the one of lawn mowing. It's those fucking birds, chirping away from 4am every single morning! I think that's more worthy of a 111 call. The NHS will know what to do.

OoglyMoogly · 17/06/2021 16:57

It's been too hot (apart from today) to even consider mowing before 8pm here! We’re often out until 10:30 pm gardening as it's so light now.

AnoDeLosMuertos · 17/06/2021 16:59

@Karmabites2591

Are you my neighbour ? 😫 my dp is out there at them moment haha couldn’t do it earlier because we were dismantling things and seen as it’s down he went out there to do it quickly
It’s antisocial
hulahooper2 · 17/06/2021 17:15

He may have hayfever and it’s the best time of day for him

Slippy78 · 17/06/2021 17:37

Perfectly acceptable.

Workingfromhomeishell · 17/06/2021 17:43

It's very selfish of him

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 17/06/2021 17:43

How shocking that neighbours don’t consider the bedtime of their multiple neighbours children during sociable hours, I mean someone please call 111!
