I work anti social hours

I once trimmed my bush at 3am after an overnight flight

Neighbours didn’t notice but hubby was furious about the hairs I left in the bathroom ;-)

RampantIvy · 14/06/2021 22:42

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat

Too hot to do it earlier.
Not here it wasn't
InnaBun · 14/06/2021 22:43

Better than first thing in the morning

RampantIvy · 14/06/2021 22:44

@vodkaredbullgirl

Is he carrying a light, so he can see what he is doing.
It was still light in the north of England at 9.45.

I'd be a bit miffed (mainly if it woke baby, if it didn't then I wouldn't really notice) but it's preferable to early morning! Kids,in my limited experience, tend to fall back to sleep easier in the evening than morning but then we have neighbours that slam gates and shout to each other at 4.30am and have conversations loud enough to hear over the baby monitor each evening so a lawnmower for a short time would be much more enjoyable.

thumpingrug · 14/06/2021 22:48

I live next to a field. We have a combined harvester and a couple of tractors going backwards and forwards. They have been at it for the last 2 hours and it looks like they have only done half the field. Consider yourself lucky.

TurquoiseDress · 14/06/2021 22:49

What a cock

mowing the lawn at 9.45pm is bloody ridiculous

Stopsnowing · 14/06/2021 22:49

My neighbour is having a noisy gathering in his garden. I understand the need to socialise but not shout!

No
Its not like its every night of the year is it, or even every week or month.
Have some tolerance.

Womendohavevaginasnick · 14/06/2021 22:50

How dare he 🤣

Skysblue · 14/06/2021 22:50

Your neighbour is mental.

(And very selfish.)

Stopsnowing · 14/06/2021 22:51

Also I did my lawn yesterday in the heat of the day to avoid doing it early/late when cooler so I didn’t bother the neighbours.

TurquoiseDress · 14/06/2021 22:53

I hold this opinion because we had similar from a neighbour which prevented the kids from falling asleep waaaay past their bedtime

We just wanted to get on with the evening & prepare dinner/sit down & talk/catch up

PattyPan · 14/06/2021 22:53

I think it’s antisocial. I wouldn’t do it outside 8-8 I think. I was hoovering at 9am on Sunday and worried that was too antisocial!

SoapboxFox · 14/06/2021 22:56

That would annoy me; it's not considerate. First thing in the morning would be better, as most young children wake up quite early anyway.

TurquoiseDress · 14/06/2021 22:58

I do this too, it just wouldn't occur to me to crack out the lawnmower at dawn (am getting ready to go to work & getting kids ready for school/nursery) or start mowing the lawn at 9pm

It's just basic courtesy isn't it?

But I understand people will often do whatever they please, regardless of how it impacts others

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 14/06/2021 23:00

I'd say 10pm would be my limit on what is reasonable here, so just about OK though not sure I'd feel good about mowing mine at that time.

When did the world revolve around young children ? Maybe he works first thing in the morning and this is is only time
ClingFilmAndGafferTape · 14/06/2021 23:13

My neighbour complained to me that the other neighbour was hoovering at 4pm. There's nowt like folk.

Kickthedoorbaby · 14/06/2021 23:14

This is NOT ok but looking at some of the answers here and on our local fb page I’d say people have lost all perspective of what’s acceptable and what is just rude and thoughtless

MountainDweller · 14/06/2021 23:20

I wouldn't mind. Mine was strimming at 8am and I wanted a lie in. But night owls always get a bad rap here compared to those up at sparrow-fart,

LadyPoison · 14/06/2021 23:20

Local farmer was cutting his hayfield at 9.45 this evening. He’s stopped now thank goodness.

Much much louder than a lawn mower

SaltySkulls · 14/06/2021 23:22

I think most people would be annoyed but bite their lip if it was music in the garden before 10 pm, so I don't see why it's any different with a mower.

But can he really see much at that time?!
