The only issue is which is a big issue tbf is we would convert it slightly for Daughter as currently they stair system in it is not safe for her. But I think we are going to need to do that wherever we go !

We had a converted chapel in early 1990s. Not as nice as that though. It was lovely to live in.

Nohugstoday25 · 13/06/2021 22:15

Location is perfect to - not far from Kew Gardens.
Hmm maybe I will do some convincing 🤣or beg

I have friends that live in an old chapel. It's lovely, but the living room is a massive double height thing, while the bedrooms are all a bit small in a sort of mezzanine upper floor. The kitchen feels claustrophobic because it's under the mezzanine and the ceiling is too low. I suppose what I mean is you've got to have enough height for two proper storeys which they don't all have. Also, the outside space is very small - the 'garden' is basically the paths around the chapel, the graveyard is fenced off and not part of their property.

GertietheGherkin · 13/06/2021 22:17

I do!
It's fantastic ( definitely gives you high ceilings 😁) we have 'very much in keeping' extended on the back, but it's very unnoticeable when in the building, as it is is really blends in. We have quite a large family, and it's very spacious. I'd advise anyone to go for it if they have the chance.

Ducksurprise · 13/06/2021 22:17

Agree with the yes unless graves in the garden. There is a converted village church near me where the climbing frame is over the gravestones.

StillWaters77 · 13/06/2021 22:19

It's BEAUTIFUL!
I've always said if I could afford to I definitely would.

Nohugstoday25 · 13/06/2021 22:21

There’s 5 bathrooms most come of bedrooms so suppose we wouldn’t need all of them and could make a bedroom bigger.

The kitchen is small but big dining room and tbh we don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

We would beee to view it as there is no pictures of the full garden.

At the moment his saying to No to even viewing haha

No. I’d always feel like I was being watched!

Diversion · 13/06/2021 22:23

That is amazing and I would happily live there. I would be even happier if there was a graveyard too

StoneofDestiny · 13/06/2021 22:23

I'd not like one giant open plan space, but it being a former church has no negatives for me

ButItRingsAndIRise · 13/06/2021 22:23

@PixieDust28

Very pretty but no thank you. One small creak would have me 🏃🏻‍♀️.
Me too 😂
QuiltingFlower · 13/06/2021 22:24

Boring of me, but converted churches are always cold. Heating bills will be huge and you will be wedded to thermals.....

I love the property. Quite unique. Can I ask is it your forever home? The reason I ask is that I used to live in a non standard property and it was difficult to sell. Please think about the cost of heating as it could be cold in winter. Also is there a graveyard attached or are there graves within the building? Loves ones could turn up with flowers!
If you are happy with it I would definitely put in an offer.
Good luck with your house move Flowers

ZeusandClio · 13/06/2021 22:26

I lived in a converted chapel, absolutely loved it. The downstairs was amazing but the upstairs was a bit tight. It was rented but I probably would have bought it if I could have afforded it.

Dahlietta · 13/06/2021 22:27

I wouldn't make my live in a 3 million quid house he didn't like!!

It's always been my dream to live in a church. The maintenance on my 1930s detached house is enough of a faff though, I'd imagine it would be no good for a lazy arse like me.

frankenpoodle · 13/06/2021 22:29

I don't think I could feel at home in a converted church. It just wouldn't feel like a place to live, for me.

Nohugstoday25 · 13/06/2021 22:29

@YummieMummyof3 yes it would be I am selling my house and then using a pay out we got for reasons I won’t go in to. So I don’t think we will move again.
