.....along with Mariah Carey, Beyonce and a few others obviously!

Every time I hear her sing live my mind is blown! I’ve just seen the live version of ‘Save your tears’ that she did with The Weekend last week... I LOVE The Weekend, have done for years but when she comes on, he may as well not even be there (IMO) talk about stealing the show... m.youtube.com/watch?v=s37x2VSZrLw Shock

I also love her live lounge of God Is A Woman m.youtube.com/watch?v=UTtABhxErvw Shock

I don’t know, maybe I need to get out more Grin but I struggle to get that excited about other female artists atm because I just find their voices so weak and meh compared to hers Blush

I think it’s a shame you don’t really get to hear her full talent in a lot of her songs.

Perrie Edwards is better. And the rest of Little Mix.

People don't take them seriously because they came from X factor but listen to them perform and harmonise together. Pure talent.

MissKeithsNeice · 14/06/2021 06:10

So glad to see other Miley fans. Her tone is so beautiful, especially when she releases her inner country singer.

Yes to the back yard sessions (Jolene!) also all the live lounges, esp the Glastonbury one. And her acoustic sets on Howard's Stern show. I'm obsessed - there's just something about how she sings.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 14/06/2021 06:35

Miley is far, far better. Her version of Lilac Wine is awesome

Rockbird · 14/06/2021 06:38

@BusySittingDown you typed the words about her hair but I heard my 13yo's voice Grin. DD1 adores her, totally obsessed and won't hear a word against her.

She's ok, her music definitely isn't to my taste but she's a reasonably good singer. I'm a Debbie Harry girl myself, I prefer my singers to have a bit of personality.

thecognoscenti · 14/06/2021 06:54

She can't enunciate. Her diction is appalling. It's all very well being able to hold a tune but she mumbles so much it's impossible to hear what she's actually trying to say - it's just noise.

paisley256 · 14/06/2021 07:07

It's got to be Barbra Streisand and Jennifer Hudson for me.

BusySittingDown · 14/06/2021 07:17

@Rockbird Grin that's so funny! My 10 year old was obsessed with her for a while and we had Sam and Cat and Victorious on loop (hate both those programmes with a passion). Although DD doesn't like her now as she heard that she wasn't a very nice person and it put her right off her.

I mean despite me sticking up for her, I'm not a like a die hard fan or anything - my concert tickets were freebie gifts from a client but I do think she has a lot of talent.

@Grumpasaurus

I was going to say Nicole Scherzinger, or Beth Hart
Beth Hart is another amazing vocalists - it was great to see her live in Manchester a few years ago.
Brefugee · 14/06/2021 07:22

she like so many others sings down her nose and from the back of her throat, not from the stomach.

Each to their own, though.

ThatOtherPoster · 14/06/2021 07:26

I can’t ever make out the words Ariana sings. Even in that God is a Woman video you posted in the OP, it’s just garbled. It’s like she is banned from opening her mouth or separating her back teeth.

TulisaIsBrill · 14/06/2021 07:32

Having slept on it, I decided that the best is actually Jimmy Somerville.

Needhelp101 · 14/06/2021 07:38

I don't like her music but she can hold a tune.

However, an understandably traumatized young woman who pulled together an amazing benefit concert within 2 weeks of a horrific tragedy (and I say that not as a fan of any of the artists/bands involved) deserves some considerable respect.

Lucifersladylove · 14/06/2021 07:41

She’s a very good singer, but her songs leave me cold for the most part, her mumbling is so annoying.
It’s not my style of music though, not a huge fan of Beyoncé’s music either but again I can see she’s gifted.

Handsnotwands · 14/06/2021 07:52

I’ve got a soft spot for her. What a terrible time she had the poor pet, with the bombing and her ex. I always hoped she had the right kind of support and wasn’t expected to plaster on a smile and keep the show on the road.

Royalbloo · 14/06/2021 09:31

I think she's bloody brilliant - not to everyone's taste obviously, but very talented.

Grumpasaurus · 14/06/2021 09:37

@MinnieJackson ah I am so jealous! I'd love to meet JB and BH. Their version of I'd Rather Go Blind sends shivers down my spine!

aSofaNearYou · 14/06/2021 09:43

Hmmm, I think she's got a strong voice but there are lots of other female artists even within the same mainstream charts who are as good but sing more emotively. I find warbling to show range boring and much prefer vocalists who use their skill to portray the emotion in their words, which I don't feel AG does at all. Olivia Rodrigo is better in that regard, and she's only got 3 singles!

I also much prefer the original version of Save Your Tears, adding AG took something away from it for me!

DancesWithTortoises · 14/06/2021 09:48

She's very ordinary. Quite bland.

EmeraldShamrock · 14/06/2021 09:55

Good to see I'm not the only person who thinks pink was really bad in concert by putting in minium effort.
I stopped listening to her music afterwards.
I'll sell my DC for lady gaga's next concert.

Kulio · 14/06/2021 10:51

@Duckypoohs

Meh skin from skunk anansie wants a word
Cracking vocalist.

I do agree with PP who mentioned rock/metal vocalists. Rock/metal is a hard genre to sing and many of the female vocalists are seriously well accomplished. And outperform AG any given day of the week.

LuckyAmy1986 · 14/06/2021 11:06

I love Ariana and Miley, think they are both very talented. Arianas impressions of Celine Dion and Christina Aguilera etc are phenomenal!

Notjustanymum · 14/06/2021 11:21

Miley Cyrus can belt out a tune better IMO, not saying Ariana is no good though. Mariah Carey has more runs in her voice than laddered tights and I can’t bear to listen to her! Pink is also good, as PP have said, and my new favourite female band is Larkin Poe...

Lucifersladylove · 14/06/2021 11:33

Funny you say that because the times I’ve seen Pink she was incredible!

Pmsl at OP touchyness on this! Grin

Can’t stand Miley Cyrus- a Poundland version of Stevie Nicks
