My DH and I have 2 dogs and the youngest was sick the other night DH used a sponge to clean it up I have just gone into the kitchen and noticed a sponge in the washing up bowl I text my DH to ask about it hoping that it wouldn’t be the same one that he used the other night and got told that yes it is the one that he used the other night to clean up the sick and he has been using it to wash the dishes he apparently cleaned it before he used it. I have no words is anyone else’s DH that bloody lazy and disgusting or is it just mine. Envy Envy most definitely not envy.

@LunaMuffinTop - haha - I wonder if you could stand the pernicketyness Grin. Has to have his cotton hankies pressed and likes them folded into 8s with sharp creases on every fold.

LunaMuffinTop · 13/06/2021 23:06

@Gilly12345 we have yet to determine if he does or not but I’m leaning towards no.

@nimbuscloud I wish mine was your lucky.

@Hawkins001 he needs more than a refresher course.

@Purplealienpuke I wish I could but not sure I’m allowed to do that but trust me the other chefs are better with their hygiene than my DH.

@Slimmingstar I’m sorry but that made me laugh 😂 what is it with men and doing things that they know aren’t right. Think I will have to keep a close eye on what my DH is doing from no one because he apparently can’t be trusted to throw things out like he should.

@Babyroobs you would think that wouldn’t you but common sense seems to be short supply when it comes to my DH.

@AnyOldPrion he does yes but any training he has doesn’t stretch to at home. I know it’s beyond nasty for a chef.

My dh does some odd things occasionally. But no way would he do that!

SappysCurry · 13/06/2021 23:09

That’s what kitchen roll is for
That’s sounds like a potential health hazard
Why do some adults not think things through

LunaMuffinTop · 13/06/2021 23:11

@AtomHeartMotherOfGod if he had cleaned it in bleach water after it wouldn’t been a problem but it never got cleaned after it was just used for dishes which has made me feel more than a bit sick. It probably did have a lot of life left in it but I wouldn’t trust him to clean it in bleach water now.

@RosesAndHellebores haha I don’t think I could put up with that I’ll stick with the dirty bastard I married 😂

KILNAMATRA · 13/06/2021 23:13

High on the yuck factor but if that sponge was exposed to water over 70 degrees most bugs would die... so yuck, but don’t stress too much.., show him the kitchen roll... mine refuses to blow his nose .. rather snort the muckback up there...🤢

LunaMuffinTop · 13/06/2021 23:18

@3LittleDucksQuack this is the first time my DH has done anything like this before I think I’m not slightly worried that he’s done this before and I’ve just not noticed.

@SappysCurry I will be getting him a lot of kitchen roll to use from now on. Definitely a potential health hazard. I wish he would think things through first before he does things.

OP posts:
LunaMuffinTop · 13/06/2021 23:24

@KILNAMATRA I can’t swear to it that it had been anywhere near water over 70 degrees but thank you if it ever happens again I’ll just put in some boiling hot bleach water to clean it. Oh he will definitely be getting a lot of kitchen roll for next time and I will be keeping the sponges out of his reach. Oh that’s gross too.

GertietheGherkin · 13/06/2021 23:29

OMG!!!
LTB 😉

RavingAnnie · 13/06/2021 23:38

My husband would definitely do that. He's gross. I have to monitor him to make sure he's not randomly done something that is completely disgusting.

He once used the washing up brush to clean the car hub caps....and then put it back in the washing up brush pot. You know ready to be used presumably for the next load of washing up. It was black so thankfully I immediately noticed it next time I passed the sink.

I could quote many many similar examples.

I dread to think of the things I miss. I try not to think about it.

ZednotZee · 13/06/2021 23:40

He's probably inoculated the rest of you by proxy.

ZednotZee · 13/06/2021 23:43

As a household we are, by contemporary standards fucking disgusting and yet the healthiest people we know.

Its very LMC to give a shit about such things.
And they are always ill.

LunaMuffinTop · 14/06/2021 00:10

@GertietheGherkin haha I’m thinking about it.

@RavingAnnie I’m glad I’m not alone. Oh wow that’s nasty not sure which is worse dog sick sponge or using the washing brush on his car tires and then putting it back did he really think you wouldn’t notice that. I’m the same I try not to think about the things that I might’ve missed it doesn’t bare thinking about.

@ZednotZee haha I think he has. Sounds the same as my house. Yes they are always ill.

Topseyt · 14/06/2021 00:18

Disgusting. He should have thrown the sponge out immediately.

He sounds as bad as the DH I read about on here a few years ago who had washed the toilet brush in the dishwasher!! It wasn't him, was it?

LunaMuffinTop · 14/06/2021 01:57

@Topseyt I really wish he had thrown the sponge away I will never understand what made him think it was ok to keep. No my DH has never done anything like that.

LTB

CorianderBee · 14/06/2021 02:45

Depends tbh if it was 3am he may have been half asleep... otherwise gross

Wingedharpy · 14/06/2021 02:51

My DH would never do that............but only because I watch him like a hawk.
He's a truly lovely man.
Very, very tidy, but not particularly fussed about cleanliness.

dayslikethese1 · 14/06/2021 02:51

It makes me anxious thinking about things like this when I go to other people's houses. I have a thing about using correct cloths for everything and I like to know exactly where they've been Grin

musthavebeenlove · 14/06/2021 03:05

That’s so utterly disgusting but I thought mine could do exactly the same thing.
I’m big on proper hygiene and he really is a pig sometimes so I feel your pain OP.

AnyOldPrion · 14/06/2021 04:58

any training he has doesn’t stretch to at home. I know it’s beyond nasty for a chef.

I’m a vet. Spent a reasonable chunk of my life clearing up dog vomit. There’s a good chance that if there were bacteria that could potentially affect humans, most would die so long as the dishes were dried thoroughly and stayed dry for a while. I expect he knows that too. I’d be way more worried if it had been human vomit. And my ex would never have done it because he never washed up. Definitely don’t LTB. He’s a keeper!

BritWifeInUSA · 14/06/2021 05:09

My husband is the opposite. One if our dogs was sick a few days ago and he had two pairs of disposable gloves on, used kitchen paper to scoop it up, triple bagged it, wiped the floor with almost a whole roll of Clorox wipes then got the mop and bucket out. The mop head was subsequently bleached and then out through a boil wash. The bucket was scrubbed clean. I was only surprised he didn’t get on his HazMat suit.

LittleMG · 14/06/2021 08:18

Who the hell are the 6% of people that thought this was ok?!?!?!

1Endeavour2 · 14/06/2021 09:31

My DH of 49 years routinely uses the dish cloth to wipe up spills on floor. ( floor is usually clean and no shoes in here). I complain every time. I change cloths daily. He claims he doesn't know where we keep them! and complains loudly. He does most of the d/ w and is generally ultra helpful now bits of me don't work. He now does more in kitchen than me. I worked out long ago, when we had our who-does-what battles, that if I wanted him to help I had to accept compromises or end up doing the lot. Seems to have worked. Retirement made a big difference.
I remember the frustration of the cloths though. Buy loads more, cheap, and just keep circulating. Take care about your superior cleaning or any other skills of you'll do the lot!

Bluedeblue · 14/06/2021 09:56

Me and DH were going on a long haul holiday. He had a rucksack for his hand luggage. This rucksack on our journey, had been placed :

In the boot of the car
On the train platform
On the floor of the train
On the floor in the airport
On the floor of the plane
On the floor on the transfer coach
On the floor in the hotel at check in

You get my drift.....when we finally got to our lovely room, with it's fresh linen, where did he place his rucksack? On my pillow. You know, where my face would be all night. Is it just me, or is that gross?
