Fucking barbecues

I live in a quiet part of a street, and we're mid terrace. Every neighbour has decided to have a fucking barbecue, every day. Don't get me wrong, it's up too them in their own gardens but does no one have any common courtesy anymore to knock or shout over the fence as say 'oh we're having a barbecue, you might want to take your washing in!' I'm getting so sick of it. We can't have a out back doors open because the smell is so strong and the smoke so intense it just smothers everything. I used to really love summer and now thanks to people who really don't give a shit, it gets ruined. Can't sit in the garden as you other get smoked out of some twat kicks a fucking ball over the fence, or even worse at your fence. Roll on a lottery win so I can move to a house in a big field!

We barbecue most days through the summer although usually the gas grill rather than coals - if I want a chicken salad why would I put the oven on and make the whole house hot when we can do it outside?

OP, don't even think about living in Australia Grin we BBQ breakfast, lunch and dinner, throwing our kids into the pool to wash- off the grease between meals! CrikeyBlush

You can't change why the neighbours are doing, so maybe you need to put out and take your washing in earlier?

I had a neighbour that for many years fire a burner outside In their garden all through the summer nearly every single day just for fun to create an atmosphere.One very hot day I found the courage to ask him why and what is was burning. He was totally unaware that he was causing smell to go over the fence and inside the house. Some people are totally selfish and ignorant. Firing bbq occasionally is fine but every day is a nuisance. We all deserve peace and respect from others.

The people over the back of us are prolific BBQers……but not so prolific with the cleaning…

The damn thing pours out clouds of smoke and reeks of rancid fat. How anyone can eat anything from that monster is beyond me.

A neighbour, who has now thankfully moved, had a bbq like this. Really rancid smoke that did require doors and windows to be closed. Don't think they cleaned their bbq ever from the stink of it.

Most bbq's are fine in terms of smell, that one was definitely not. Amazingly they never bbq'd when the wind was blowing towards their house!

I put my washing on before bed on a timer to finish when I get up so it's out first thing and can get it in before my neighbours start their BBQ. I don't eat meat and really dislike that burger van type smell.

I don’t mind the odd BBQ smell but all the time, no. However I would rather that than weed that seems to seep through my walls to the point you would think I’m smoking it myself. Rank.

I just have one neighbour who puts out washing close to my garden, she has a big family so there’s washing out every day. I do warn her if I’m having a bbq and she just takes her washing in.

Bbq smells don’t bother me, but then I hate the constant music from people’s gardens, so I do have my own thing I complain about! It’s tough. It would be lovely if we could all enjoy our gardens without being affected by what others do in theirs but it’s just not possible for most of us.

I've seen it all with neighbours and nice summer weather. Cutting the grass at 6AM, kids waterfights at 8AM, smoking week at 10AM, loud noon blow jobs ...etc... Not all in the same place!!

Considerate neighbors are not to be taken for granted!!

Then you've never been to a decent one then! I can assure you that the food we serve at ours is great.

And using BBQ is perfectly acceptable. It's in the dictionary too.

Agree, Macncheeseballs/polodriversclub, OP i also dislike them, my neighbours do it every day that its not raining from Spring to Autumn.

Am sick of having to close windows and get washing in because of the stink.

Well firstly, people like different foods . But also, lots of people are absolutely crap at barbecuing. So if you've never had decent barbecues, it's not surprising you don't like them. Oh and people don't 'have to call them BBQs'. It's called an abbreviation and it's not compulsory. Most people use quite a few abbreviations though. And it's only in writing. It's not as if people go around actually saying 'Bee Bee Qs' or 'Buh Buh Kwuhs', is it? Grin

I'm not mad keen on BBQs myself as I have asthma, but I'm not against people enjoying them once in a while, and taking advantage of the occasional decent weather.
It is still a free country after all😎

Actually I've heard people calling them bee bee queues. It's kind of a post-ironic millennial thing or something Grin

Not how some people use them, it’s not! :D More like trying to burn a stack of sodden timber, with added flammables and the wind in the wrong direction, followed by scorching fat. Bleurgh.
