Too hot for a nightie?

67 replies

Zig27 · 12/06/2021 09:03

I slept with a 2 tog duvet and a nightie last night but have woke up feeling hot. I don’t know if it’s a health issue or I shouldn’t be wearing a nightie in the summer. My body can get cold at first when I sleep so I like something on but hate waking up hot.

How did you get on? Tbey say today will be even hotter than yesterday.

lynsey91 · 13/06/2021 09:54

I hate nighties (and pyjamas). They just get tangled when you turn over and make you hot. Even in winter they are horrible.

Sleep naked, it's much better

Slub · 13/06/2021 10:01

@Unhomme

I can imagine the sequel in November:

"It's cold in my bedroom as I wear a nightie. Is it a health issue or should I use a duvet, and close the window.

With some of these threads I've read this morning I really fear for the future of the human race. Why can people not 'adult' anymore? Confused

Somethingsnappy · 13/06/2021 10:08
@Somethingsnappy That’s helpful advice about the warning for baby’s sleepwear as it will apply to adults. Thank you.
Yes, I use the same layers, tog etc as my baby and it is just right.

Zig27 · 13/06/2021 12:01

A lot better thank you. Thanks to those who have helpful advice.

You still may have a health issue, we wouldn't know.

NavalGazer · 13/06/2021 12:45

I’ve slept naked since I was a teenager! I didn’t realise there was so much angst about it!

The only issue I’d have is if I have to go into hospital or end up in a home where they make you wear nighties!

@WettyHainthrop

To be honest, I wondered if the OP might be the troll, as they’re going on about sleeping ‘in the nude’ and inciting others to share what they do Confused
And they woke up FEELING HOT!!!

Still, glad they now know when its cold have more layers on, when its hot take some off

pussycatlickinglollyices · 13/06/2021 13:59

@QuestionableMouse

I sleep naked year round. It's much more comfortable.

Where did you get your duvet from? I'm on the hunt for a lighter one but can only find polyester which I don't want.

Marks and Spencer to thinner duvets. 1 tog or 1 tog
sambaa · 13/06/2021 14:05

Is this for real? Somebody posting about what to wear in a bed and whether to use a sheet or duvet?

“With some of these threads I've read this morning I really fear for the future of the human race.”

Couldn’t have put it better myself.

What will be next ..., “It’s windy. Shall I wear a jacket?”

Iooselipssinkships · 13/06/2021 15:00

When the kids are too hot (which has been the case considering it's very warm and humid) we just slightly dampen their pyjama tops with water, it works well for cooling them down and getting off to sleep.

If you feel too hot on the hottest night of the year smash some holes in your roof and walls to allow the air to circulate more freely and you'll wake up to a refreshing breeze GrinGrinGrin

Well, when I was a kid, I most certainly would not have been amused if Mum had soaked my PJ top in water to get me to sleep during the 1976 heat-wave! Her remedy - just leave both halves of my PJs off at bedtime - was user-friendly, easily implemented, and highly effective.

So childish.
