Washing on line OVER NIGHT

Coolmum30 · 10/06/2021 20:49

Is it just me that thinks it's absolutely vile to leave clean washing on the line over night? 🥺

Just bring it in!?

@LindaEllen

Is this really worth a thread?

People can forget it's out or they can lose track of time and be absolutely knackered by the time they remember ..

How did you become so judgy?

Yep, and a regular one at that.
scaredsadandstuck · 10/06/2021 23:23

Oh shit just remembered mines on the line still....

Kpo58 · 10/06/2021 23:26

Mine is also on the line. I didn't have time to put it out before 4pm and there wasn't enough time for it to dry before it got dark.

KurtWilde · 10/06/2021 23:26

I always leave mine out overnight. I like my washing darked on and the spider willies make it softer. My neighbours already think I'm a tramp so 🤷🏻‍♀️

MumofSpud · 10/06/2021 23:27

I have just put some washing out! Shock

Mareofwesttown · 10/06/2021 23:27

Just No
(I am a vampire and SO tired of being caught up in sheets. It’s embarrassing)

womanity · 10/06/2021 23:30

I mix my colours, hang my tops from the tops and my bottoms from the bottom, in the front garden, after dinner, and leave it out for days.
Whilst also not having three under three or a real job

motherofawhirlwind · 10/06/2021 23:30

@kowari

What's the difference between day and night? I often do a load and put it out in the evening.
What's the difference? Darked on and spider willie's, that's what!

Please tell me this is a pisstake!
BetsyBigNose · 10/06/2021 23:31

I just said to DD (14) that someone on Mumsnet had asked about leaving their washing out overnight and she replied "Errr... no! Spider willies? And what about it getting darked on?!"

I am SO proud. My work here is done.

DeedledeDee · 10/06/2021 23:33

No neighbours to think about but hang out at night if I know it's gonna be nice next day.
Can't put out in morning as machine wakes poorly relative who doesn't get up till 3 pm so can't put on washing till late afternoon.
Not a problem and certainly not worth bothering about

KurtWilde · 10/06/2021 23:40

I put my darks in with my lights too. No ones died yet.

Paleninteresting · 10/06/2021 23:55

@Coolmum30 you have made my night. In Scotland we have the additional concern of midge sperms which can cause an adverse reaction in bairns.
They are rendered unable to put said washing away and have to fling in wild desperation on their floors.
And the horror of seagull baby porridge is one splash beyond Zoflora.

Quaggars · 11/06/2021 00:23

Only on MN do you hear of people scared of the clothes getting "darked on" (WTF lol) and spider willies or whatever Grin
It's absolutely roasting here lately, so I've been leaving stuff on line over night and they've been dry the next morning.
I don't give a shiny if any of you lot are my neighbours silently freaking out behind their blinds/net curtains at the thought of the dark claiming the clothes lol

Sillawithans · 11/06/2021 00:32

I had 3 under 2 so ne ne ne ne ne.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 11/06/2021 00:36

I know this is meant to be a parody, but honestly, it’s just a bit naff and cheesy. Could do better.

In any case, having seen my neighbour hanging the washing out in his pants, I think leaving it overnight would score pretty low on the trampometer.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 00:37

@WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia

How embarrassing that you hang your own washing out, op. My maid does that for me. Stop being poor, op.
@WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia

that's exactly what my butler said

BlackeyedSusan · 11/06/2021 01:00

I wonder if leaving the washing out over night is how that spider got twatted to death.

I am curious did the moth in the gusset get twatted too? You missed a chance to get your own thread in classics...

There are probably still traumatised cows in Cornwall after I found a moth in my cardi, two hours after I put it on. A scream to wake the dead...

Flowers to all those too poorly, disabled, neurodiverse, with Sen or disabled children, with DHS who won't or can't help or are just plain too busy to put out and get washing in in one day. Your value as a person does not rest in your ability to keep up with the washing police.

lotstolose1 · 11/06/2021 01:08

Absolutely disgusting. Anyone who does that deserves to be lined up against a wall and shot.

Oceanbliss · 11/06/2021 01:17

I only take my clothes off the line when I want to wear them. I thought everyone did that. Also, sometimes when I finished wearing them I don’t even wash them. I just hang them back on the line to air out Grin

Quaggars · 11/06/2021 01:32

lol

3LittleDucksQuack · 11/06/2021 01:34

I left mine out last time. Ans there actually was a spider in a towel when brought it in.. But didn't see a willy :p.

I don't normally. Tbh but last night I just couldn't be arsed to go and get it.

And my neighbours couldn't care less. I'm alone of the only ones within about 6 houses who dries washing outside.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 11/06/2021 03:26

Since I don’t give a shit about their lacklustre lawn mowing, I doubt they care I hang my washing out a night rather than the morning.

I also only wash my windows about once a year. Ohhh the horror.

It’s often so hot here in summer I can get my washing in by 10am. If I leave it all day it’s crispy.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 11/06/2021 03:35

Actually that’s a lie…
I NEVER EVER wash my windows, (unless there is a huge dust storm.)

I don’t even care! (And I can still see though them perfectly fine)

Theoldwoman · 11/06/2021 04:44

I leave mine out alot. Why is it vile? What do you think will happen to it?
