The masked singer/dancer is awful

Yes I know I can turn over.

But it's just such OTT American crap.

All the chanting of "get it off" and standing and copying the dancing and all the really over the top judge has-beens.

It's painful, cringeworthy, bottom of the barrel shite.

The Masked Dancer was awful, it was just The Masked Singer without the most interesting bit which was figuring out who they were by their voices.

I am sure the US has it's fair share of crap TV, as most countries do. All the Pop idol/X Factor/BGT/Jungle/Big Brother type stuff is pretty universal.

The US had a Masked Singer. I think they have captured the feeling that some people just like a bit of fun/family viewing after everything that's gone on.

It's crap.......... but it's fun crap to watch with the kids, we have enjoyed watching it this week!

We watched with my parents last weekend and all watched this week.

It's cheesy but good fun. What is needed this year.

I don't get it. How are you supposed to guess who the dancers are? Surely it could be literally anyone, from some actor you've never heard of off casualty, to some radio DJ you've never heard of?

There's clues, and the panel come up with names. I don't think there's been anyone that I have not heard of on there. I think children just enjoy the visual of people dressed up as random things, dancing as it's fun to watch. The winner was dressed as a carwash. they won't know who Christopher Dean/Bonnie Langford/Zoe Ball are etc.

My 5 year old absolutely loved it and was over the moon when his favourite, Carwash, won. He also watches Strictly so he loves Oti and knows who Craig Revel Horwood is, had no clue about any of the others but didn’t matter at all to him. We showed him Louis Spence doing gymnastics on You Tube afterwards.
It’s worked for us as great family entertainment. We are not ITV watchers generally (eg I have never seen Ant &Dec’s Sat night takeaway or The Voice) but this worked for us. And hugely impressed by 56 year-old Bonnie Langford’s splits!
