All the chanting of "get it off" and standing and copying the dancing and all the really over the top judge has-beens.

It's painful, cringeworthy, bottom of the barrel shite.

It’s shite. Unfortunately I’ve been subjected to it all week - my DD10 is enjoying it.

DDs all love it. We’ve been watching it each night together, as we did with the Masked Singer. At first DH and I were like but the girls enthusiasm caught on and I am kind of enjoying it now!

It's not even good shit. Like takeshi's castle is awful, but it's great at the same time

Yes the panel is a fairly vital piece of the show.

I agree it is rubbish but my 3 DC's (not children) with Down Syndrome love it so I hide behind the newspaper, so now all knows who rules this house. 😣

The Masked Singer franchise did start in South Korea but we have the US to thank for this Masked Dancer spin-off.

While the masked singer is Korean, the masked dancer first started in the US. So it really is US crap.
Also the masked singer in the UK is much more like the ms in the US than the ms in Korea, which has sensible masks rather than the ridiculous costumes

It was the reactions I was comparing to America more than the programme itself (although I did believe it had originated in America, so I was wrong there).

When America do X factor and the like the audience, the judges and the contestants are always way way waaaaaay more OTT with their reactions, their enthusiasm and getting up and dancing when the contestants dance, punching the air etc etc

It’s supposed to be a bit of fun and entertainment, even if it’s a competition. It’s a cultural thing. It would be odd in American culture to just sit there and stare at them with little reaction. It’s acceptable (and encouraged) to get into it, sing along, dance, like if it was a live concert or whatnot.

Which the U.K. chose to do including the costumes. It’s no different to when Americans do a spin-off of a British tv show like The Office or Shameless.
