All the chanting of "get it off" and standing and copying the dancing and all the really over the top judge has-beens.

It's painful, cringeworthy, bottom of the barrel shite.

After the last year I am quite happy to watch the silliest crap I can find. Anything to escape from the daily grind. If you don't like it fine, but stop getting all high and mighty about it.

My son loves it, which is brilliant as he knows almost none of the 'celebrities'. He recognised no one from the whole last series of the masked singer. Doesn't seem to stop him enjoying it though.

Masked singer is originally a South Korean format.

It's not for everyone but it is harmless entertainment. It's a silly show that family can watch together. There are more crap than good on tv, but I get why people might enjoy the silliness.

It’s terrible! I get the masked singer was a bit of fun and you could guess the singer. My DD and I watched a bit of the dancer one and were trying to work out the premise it’s just guessing based on initials any celebrity at all.
Not even linked to a dance skill or anything. The panto-ness of the panel is the worst thing ever the standing and screeching with laughter at any tiny joke.

I get the red mist/toe curling cringe, range of emotions when the panel are shouting - particularly Davina - "take it off" "who are you"

If anyone has been on a live audience show, they record you fake clapping and cheering before the show starts in case you're not enthusiastic enough during the actual show. It's so obvious this is what they do !!!

I really enjoy the masked singer. I am not such a fan of the dancer one. I watched it the other night and it occurred to me that if aliens descended into our skies and watched it, that they might think we are off our tits.

I am still a little bit addicted to it though…. 😂😂

Absolutely. I've read how the Masked Singer in the US gets their audience to fake reactions in advance to a celebrity being revealed. In fact, due to the last season or two not being able to have an audience, every shot of audience members throughout the episode was actually unused or recycled footage from previous seasons.

Exactly. Antone would think people are being forced to watch it. So many channels and ways to watch TV now, it's not like there's only 3 channels to choose from like back in the day.

The worst thing I have seen lately is Gordon Ramsay's quiz show. I lasted half an episode of that before turning off.

The dances are reasonably entertaining as is finding out who it is. But I just find it too long-winded and boring to watch, so much filler, forced jolity from the judges, loads of long commercial breaks. Can't be arsed.

I agree OP, it’s hideous! I hate the computerized voices and the stupid costumes. Then when the dancer is revealed it’s always some Z list celebrity who I’ve usually never heard of

All I think is... OK Davina, Oti, Jonathon Ross etc... I wonder how much they are paid to give this ridiculous OTT reaction to daft dancing? And things like... I would love to have that beetroot costume or whatever to wear to a fancy dress.

It's just something to put on a Saturday night, just wish the channels could find something a bit better.

BUT I don't have young DCs, they used to like Noel's House Party which was equally inane... so there you go

It is truly dire, and the panel all seem so false, clearly not their thing for some of them ie singing the 'take it off'. I cannot believe that people actually like this.

I enjoyed the singer but this one seems pointless

I was away last week so put it on to record. I didn't watch the singer one, but thought the dancing one might be a bit of enjoyable froth. Then cheated by looking on Wikipedia to see who was named, as I wasn't going to bother if I hadn't heard of any of them .
Found I know one of the contestants (slightly), so watched for them. If you skip over the nonsense bits and try to ignore the OTT panel reactions, it's mildly palatable, and lasts about 20 mins.

It's on now if anyone fancies getting cross about watching it.
