Sun out-dickhead neighbours out. What are your neighbours doing today to annoy you? (lighthearted

My neighbours do my head in year round as they are so bloody entitled in general but when the sun is out it's worse. Loud music, they can't talk, they shout to each other and when they have visitors it's even worse and that's before they get the outdoor fire going and force us indoors after quickly getting the washing in.
I have massive sensory issues with noise due to possible ASD (awaiting assessment) so I know IABU and need to find ways to manage. Unfortunately moving to an island isn't an option although I did eye up that advertisement for a caretaker of an unpopulated Scottish island with interest and wish I could live somewhere like that.
What are your neighbours up to today that's annoying you and how do you deal with it? Stereo wars? Hosepipes at dawn? Penguin bollards (CFs have been known to park on or across my drive and then make out it's me being unreasonable), playing the sweariest music you can find at full volume? I'm not actually going to do anything but humour me here.

I think I might be the bad neighbour right now 😔.

Just had raging row with husband because he’s accused me of something and he simply won’t let me speak to explain…as soon as I try to talk he talks over me (this is a tactic of his). Anyway, I lost it and shouted…possibly a bit of swearing (quite a bit).

Didn’t realise that neighbours had people in garden 😳…they’ve just turned their music up and I feel awful now.

Husband has gone out. I’m so ashamed ☹️

Morechocmorechoc · 31/05/2021 14:41

Lovely day, we have kids screaming playing outside, people fitting patio and cutting all day, later bbq.....thats all us....its life and we have to get on with it!!

purplesequins · 31/05/2021 14:42
  • someone plays piano all day long. beautiful but a bit much after an hour
  • one neighbour works from home and is on phonecalls all.the.bloody.day.long
  • parakeets in a tree are noisily 'talking' to each other

luckily our lease prohibits open fires and bbq.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 31/05/2021 14:43

I will make you all envious but it's like proper quiet in mine today!
I assume everyone is hangovered after yesterday😂
Nice..very nice change. Even radios are off! 😁

toffeebutterpopcorn · 31/05/2021 14:44

Braying on the roof terrace.

The other side have a paddling pool on the roof terrace, and the littleies are having a lovely time (giggling and squealing is really nice to hear - not like yesterday when they were trying to drown each other).

I’m sorry BrewCake

I think we’ve all been there before , don’t be to hard on yourself ♥️

Pandoraslastchance · 31/05/2021 14:47

One side start constantly. If we mow the grass he will be at the bedroom window staring, if we hang the washing out she will appear at the living room window. It's fucking creepy.

Otherwise, they play shit music but other than that we get on OK.

Checkingout811 · 31/05/2021 14:47

@LadyCatStark same! We are very lucky!

To the poster who said Ibiza pool party- that’s our house today 😂😂 except my husband isn’t on the decks we just have music playing. But the pools out, the music is on and the sun is shining. All the DC (including next doors who are round here) are having a brilliant day. Perfect bank holiday Monday!!

JackieTheFart · 31/05/2021 14:49

Nothing really. I don’t mind the general smells and sounds of people enjoying their lives - including BBQs and music. I’ve lived here 15 years and have never had issues with neighbours.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 31/05/2021 14:50

I live opposite a pub. They were especially noisy last night! Woke my 7 year old up which is unusual. They seem to all be having hair of the dog as they are all back!
My next door neighbours are an older couple. They are sitting in their garden, not annoying in the slightest. However my 7 and 5 year old may be annoying them as they are out playing with bubbles and running around playing tig so shouting etc
My neighbours are lovely though and have told me never to worry about the children being children being loud and free. I do try to keep the noise a lower level though

speakout · 31/05/2021 14:51

I feel very lucky- I have the quietest neighbours in the world.
No one has dogs or children, no trampolines, no one shouts or plays music.
The only noise is the ocassional lawnmower.

DuskandSummer · 31/05/2021 14:57

All usually quiet here today, noisy 6am dog barking neighbour seems to have gone away so we've had peace for 3 mornings.

2andahalfpints · 31/05/2021 14:57

Drilling, banging and saving - been renovating for 12 months! Bought the house at the beginning of lockdown and decided to strip it completely. Plaster off, walls down the works.

Lockdown was pretty tough at times. They are here every bank holiday and weekend from 8am so no lie in either 😭

howrudeforme · 31/05/2021 14:58

Lol @MizMoonshine ok but after one had offloaded her kids for the day, she wanted r&r over her glass of wine in the garden alone and mentioned we’d ruined it with my teenage quite low music with window open. It wasn’t to her pop music taste. I fact, she was expecting quiet. Ooh .

Tolerance (and we have loads), needs to be reciprocated, right?

tulips27 · 31/05/2021 15:00

@chocolatesaltyballs22

Neighbour on right: playing with toddler in garden who can't seem to do anything without a constant 'aaaahhh aaaaaahhh aaaaaaaahhh aaaaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah' commentary

Neighbour opposite: teen-ager bouncing ball constantly

Neighbour on left: radio 2 on full blast with all the windows open, interspersed with occasional loud burps or yelled conversations with his partner. That's when he's not revving his ancient Porsche on the drive for 20 minutes before driving it round the block and then returning to rev it for a further 20 minutes before finally turning the fucking engine off.

I used to live near an engine revver too, what do they get out of it? Confused
Smokeahontas · 31/05/2021 15:01

Decided that it was vital he change his brakes at 8am.

Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap.

NameyNameyNameChangey · 31/05/2021 15:01

Mine have been playing music loudly- thankfully, thats stopped. Now they are out in the garden talking and laughing- fine.

Keepyourdistance000 · 31/05/2021 15:02

Very lucky with the neighbours here but in my previous neighbourhood one particular house would always in this sort of weather have huge bonfires which spewed toxic smoke and ash all over our street.

Mmmcheese89 · 31/05/2021 15:07

My neighbour is a nutter. Not just when doing stuff outside. Though today she's complained about putting my washing on the line because she wants to sit out and my work tops and leggings offend her eyes. (All black, some with simple florals... ie, pictures of the things you find in the garden).

Last week she complained I didn't say hello to her 5yo. The same child who shouts abuse at me and once spat at me.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 31/05/2021 15:09

@Mmmcheese89 that's a new level of nuttiness!!

PenguinIce · 31/05/2021 15:10

My neighbours decided to do their weekly caravan shuffle this morning. They think it’s totally reasonable to block the cul de sac for a couple of hours whilst they sort them out. The most annoying thing is that they don’t ever go off anywhere in any of the caravans, in fact my wheelie bin goes further when I put the rubbish out once a week 🤷‍♀️

FictionalCharacter · 31/05/2021 15:11

Oh lord @Bufferingkisses that would make me want to puke. “Wee wee” and “do a wee wee” - ugh!

RealhousewifeofStoke · 31/05/2021 15:11

Local radio station at full blast since Saturday morning. Inane, endless dribble and the same fucking play list on repeat.
And SCREAMING kids. Not just normal noisy happy playing. But screamy whining from 8am until 9pm.

They’re at a right angle to us, have a huge garden but have just set up a hot tub/gazebo combo at the bottom of THEIR garden, about 8 foot from my patio. So the screaming and fighting have escalated today.

WHY do people not stop their kids from screaming? Why are humans so obnoxious? Angry

Would it be illegal to stick a garden fork through the hedge and burst the bloody hot tub? Asking gor a friend Wink

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 31/05/2021 15:11

I think I'm the bad neighbour today, my partner is cutting the grass and our autistic toddler is shouting "eeeeeeeeeh" every 5 seconds.
