Sun out-dickhead neighbours out. What are your neighbours doing today to annoy you? (lighthearted

My neighbours do my head in year round as they are so bloody entitled in general but when the sun is out it's worse. Loud music, they can't talk, they shout to each other and when they have visitors it's even worse and that's before they get the outdoor fire going and force us indoors after quickly getting the washing in.
I have massive sensory issues with noise due to possible ASD (awaiting assessment) so I know IABU and need to find ways to manage. Unfortunately moving to an island isn't an option although I did eye up that advertisement for a caretaker of an unpopulated Scottish island with interest and wish I could live somewhere like that.
What are your neighbours up to today that's annoying you and how do you deal with it? Stereo wars? Hosepipes at dawn? Penguin bollards (CFs have been known to park on or across my drive and then make out it's me being unreasonable), playing the sweariest music you can find at full volume? I'm not actually going to do anything but humour me here.

Can I add another one.....

They've bought a ring door bell. For some reason the outside door unit chimes every ten seconds or so all through the night. Grrrr

HotChocolateLover · 03/06/2021 07:12

I feel incredibly bad saying this but they have two under three and they cry a lot. However, I have a solution...I take out my hearing aid and it dulls down the noise a lot 😆 When in the garden though they are incredibly annoying. On one side it’s the trampoline and the bbq. On the other side it’s the football banging up against the fence until
9.30pm and loud music (hate that side more I think and they are the ones without the babies) 😡

SJaneS49 · 03/06/2021 07:27

So many people hating their neighbours sex ponds...so glad it’s absolutely not just me! The f*ckers are out in it 24/7 even when it’s snowing/raining and shouting to make themselves heard over the bloody pump noise. They’ve got it right next to our joint fence and while this does need replacing, sure the steam from the flipping thing is increasing the wood rot.

TheDoctorDances · 03/06/2021 07:49

It’s a thing here to just shove your dog in the garden and let it bark its head off. Some times four or five different dogs barking at once, between 7am - 11pm. I couldn’t report four different households to the council, I’d look like I was being totally intolerant when actually, it’s a major problem.

I have my own dog but I’ve taken the time to train him and he doesn’t bark.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 03/06/2021 08:51

Sex ponds? Blimey I’ve been City livin’ too long. Where are these people living?

And I thought our old neighbour with his bagpipes was the worst...

HarriR · 03/06/2021 10:14

Our neighbors are alright apart from the neighbor who asked me if I was pregnant, at the fish van. By the way I was carrying myself, I was cold not pregnant. At the fish van. Legged it over the road, when I was digging up hedge to give to my folks. To ask if she could take it.

They are nothing like the slanderous fishwives my mother has to live over the road from. If I had my way they'd have got asbos ages ago.

Purplealienpuke · 03/06/2021 10:24

Arsehole constantly tinkering with his motorbike outside my kitchen window. Revving it and leaving it running.
From 8am to 10pm.
Woman in next block with an old fashioned push mower. Drives me insane! Bloody noise is so annoying! Im sure she measures the length of the grass 🙄 she mows it 3 or 4 times a weeks. Stupid thing is the council cut the grass regularly, she really doesn't need to cut the grass at all!
My next door neighbours constantly arguing, shouting and fighting, literally 😑
Music so loud I can hear it over my TV.
Another next door neighbour in that block got a lockdown dog. Now she's leaving it, it does nothing but fucking howl ALL FUCKING DAY. FML.
I have tried to reporting her to get the poor dog some help, I really feel sorry for the dog. But apparently there's nothing I can do unless I take a private prosecution.....
Irresponsible dog owners fuck me off 😡

toffeebutterpopcorn · 03/06/2021 10:27

My sisters ex husband once took to tinkering with his motorbike - in their living room...

Any the mystery of why he is her ex has never been fully explained...

shivawn · 03/06/2021 10:32

Nothing my neighbours do in their own gardens bothers me to be honest. I can hear the kids playing next door and there's construction happening at a house a few doors down. I'm glad a bit of noise doesn't trigger me, sounds tiring to be getting so worked up over it.

Bluesheep8 · 03/06/2021 10:47

*Small yappy dog sticks his snout under the fence as I'm hammering in a border post. Was it U to crack him with my 5lb lump hammer? I'm sure I heard and felt something break. Maybe I did it a bit hard, but I think it is fair payback for all I have had to ensure from that little f'er

Fucking hell thats cruel! I hope this isn't true!*

So do I. Even if it's meant to be a joke it's in very poor taste Hmm

Agree 😞

We have neighbours where the two young kids (7 and 5) hang over our fence and stare in the windows. If my boys are out they swear at them and try to get my kids to swear back especially my youngest who is 6. We are looking to move away but obviously its taking time.

catpyjamas · 03/06/2021 16:31

About 4 houses down I can hear what sounds like 3 or 4 small children playing with the odd scream. It isn't too bad. The people behind but one are in their 70's and every day there are several small children there and whilst 'granddad?' encourages them to scream with "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!! I CAN'T HEEEEAAAAAAARRRRR YOOOOOOUUUUU. Did you say you WANT more broccolli?? YES????? YEEEESS??????' until the children are coughing they are screaming so loud back at him 'NOOOOO!!!!! WE HATE BROCCOLLI!!!!!! WEEEEEE HHAAAAATTTEEEE BRRROOCCCOLLLLIIIII!!!!! NOOOOOOO!!!!!!' Hmm grandmother has a fluttering type laugh and finds everything immensely funny.
I don't know why it winds me up.
One down on the other side has decided to retire and ......fix motorcycles from his garage which backs onto my garden! So not only do we have him revving up engines every day at all hours but we also have the idiots bringing and collecting motorcycles and testing them out by revving up and down the road each day.
That with the screaming competing next door is enough to drive anyone to drink Gin
Funnily though they both argue with each other that the other is 'too loud'. DH and I have to laugh when we hear this as they are both early 70's extremely entitled and horrendously loud. DH and I had thought moving into a road with mostly elderly would be very quiet. Actually the younger couples on the road are quiet and the elderly ones with their power tools all day and loud 'hobbies' and visiting families and late night drinks in the garden are by far the loudest.

Neighbours on either side of me have spent the past couple days trimming their hedges with radios turned up to hear over the electric sawing. Never mind there were blackbirds and a robin nesting in the hedges! Angry
For the next 3 months every fucking day I'll get 'Are you going to do your hedges this weekend? It doesn't look right having one house with untidy hedges. Are you going to do your hedges this weekend?' NO! I always do my hedges in October AFTER the bird nesting season.

Argh!!!! Every bleeping year!

AngeloMysterioso · 03/06/2021 17:07

Not my neighbours themselves, but the builders doing their extension who don’t seem to care a hot about how much crap they drop in our garden even though we have a toddler- so far I’ve found several sizeable screws and nails, a few big chunks of wood and more sawdust than I can begin to quantify. They’ve also dumped all their materials on the pavement in front of our hedge so we now can’t trim it and it’s looking decidedly overgrown.

TheDramaLlama123 · 03/06/2021 17:13

God, so much from my neighbors! One side is lovely, the other - well we call them the weirdos as the stare through the living room window at us! They play with their child in our front garden ( divided from their garden by a massive hedge so are doing it on purpose) in the summer we are treated by the most amazing performance parenting by the dad who announces everting the child eats (it’s not a toddler) and he screams every single moment he is out side and the child does too! He’s done worse in the past - caught him staring at my 14 year old daughter as she slept through her window. They went through a stage of chucking their nappies over into my garden and chocolate too, I’m assuming to poison the dog. They don’t like when my children rarely play in the garden - they chuck rocks at my fence to scare the children, and it works - my kids are scared to go out when they are there. They look down their nose at us as we rent and they own. Oh how I wish I could move!

Jesus please tell me you've called the police to log all this?

Dontevenstart · 03/06/2021 22:42

They exist.
They need to fuck off.

chaosmaker · 04/06/2021 13:49

@catpyjamas I think it's illegal to cut down anything where birds are nesting. I'm sure I read it on the RSPB website.

I have new neighbours who've been road drilling in their house that are not immediately next door but I can feel it as though they are drilling under my house. They also seem to have chainsaw access and I have no idea what they are chopping down. It's ridiculous. No idea how loud these people will be when they eventually move in. I'm half hoping they'll sell instead and some quiet people can move in.

I'd love loud noise areas that offenders could get moved into. Would make for a nicer world for the rest of us :)

ildrja · 04/06/2021 13:58

I mentioned upthread that I was waiting to see what Lord and Lady Muck did on the bank holiday - I'm in a different country. We had a bank holiday yesterday.
They were in the garden from 7 am and started by really loudly sweeping their terrace. Then a high-pressure washer came out. After that they started banging and drilling inside the house - this was at about 8 am. At 8.30 am the bloke was outside tinkering with the car and revving the engine.
At 9 am I went out, when I came back 5 hours later he was still revving the car.
And all the time Lady Muck kept shouting out to him about different things.
Thing is they apparently made the people's lives a misery who lived here before me, constantly complaining about noise etc. If any of the other neighbour's had gone outside shouting and making a noise in the garden at 7 am they'd have been straight on to the house management company lodging a complaint.

WhoneedsDogs · 06/07/2021 22:18

I apologise for the length in advance of this. Thank you to anyone who manages to read to the end. I haven’t included all the things that have been done. But you get the jist.

Two neighbours, loud, full volume music, back door and windows open as soon as sun is out from dawn til late at night/early hours of the morning. With the hot weather I want the windows open but have to shut them. Sometimes I end up with a migraine. Don’t mind music if there is a party, but got to respect other neighbours.

New neighbours below me shout and swear in every sentence, slam all doors, click bathroom lights on/off between 1am-3am every morning and you can hear the husband going for a pee! Not a pleasant sound, loud belching for all to hear.

They light up their chiminea and all the smoke comes straight through the open windows into your place.

They get a new puppy and shortly after every time you get in your vehicle you think you’ve stepped in some but it takes several weeks/month to find the dog pooh they left on your vehicle air vent.

They change my access route to my garden by putting up a new fence, steal my land whilst doing so and don’t give you an adequate access to your garden to get the wheelie bins in and out, your bicycle etc. They park in your parking space.

They walk straight into your garden uninvited, they cut and reduce the height of your forsythia in your garden and leave all the evidence while you are out at work one day. You come home to see it and are seething.

But because they are bigger, more of them and bullies and you have to come home every day but would rather not….. etc, etc. I have the neighbours from hell and sadly the dog poo, steal your land for and reduce your plant and other things….live right underneath me. I have had enough after 16 or so years. But I don’t have the money to move.

Most of the other neighbours are lovely and I get on with. The dog poo neighbours fell out with virtually the whole street when they first arrived, so they have all been on the receiving end. It isn’t just me and my opinion, with the petty and nasty things. My nice neighbours have told me to my face they wouldn’t want mine.

I am trying to organise hidden and open cctv to get evidence when they choose to do any of the above for the umpteenth time. Meanwhile I am going to blank them if I have the unfortunate bad timing when I go in or out of my front door….. I am treating them almost the same way they treat me. Husband has never spoken a single word to me in all these years. He ignores or stands and stares at me! I apologise for the length of this.

memberofthewedding · 06/07/2021 22:55

Im reminded of a horror film called "The Purge" where one night a year you are allowed to kill people. Neighbours would be top of my list.

memberofthewedding · 08/07/2021 16:47

After hearing these tales of loud music and outdoor parties and hot tubs I expect I should be grateful that my NDN are just a pair of miserable whinging snitches who go to bed at 9.30. I used to rent this house before I purchased it from the LL and they were constantly whinging to her about things which were not her concern - things like dustbins and parking. Eventually both I and the LL threatened them with legal action.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 08/07/2021 17:47

@howrudeforme

Oh yup -neighbours have massive above ground pools. Forget screaming kids all day until late hours but the pool makes a pretty loud noise. That’s two pools btw - my garden is now only fit to dry clothes - can’t sit out there as it’s like living between two power generators😳. All summer long....,,

Anyone know If pumps on these pools are on 24/7?

And because of the dampness the freaking mosquitos!

Who needs summer with neighbours, eh?

We had a massive above ground pool (hot country) pumps only ran a couple of hours in the day and again for a half hour or so if we swam in the evening. If it's producing mosquitos they aren't cleaning it properly. The Cholrine would kill the eggs. They'll all be sick from it soon enough and staying quiet
