Sun out-dickhead neighbours out. What are your neighbours doing today to annoy you? (lighthearted

My neighbours do my head in year round as they are so bloody entitled in general but when the sun is out it's worse. Loud music, they can't talk, they shout to each other and when they have visitors it's even worse and that's before they get the outdoor fire going and force us indoors after quickly getting the washing in.
I have massive sensory issues with noise due to possible ASD (awaiting assessment) so I know IABU and need to find ways to manage. Unfortunately moving to an island isn't an option although I did eye up that advertisement for a caretaker of an unpopulated Scottish island with interest and wish I could live somewhere like that.
What are your neighbours up to today that's annoying you and how do you deal with it? Stereo wars? Hosepipes at dawn? Penguin bollards (CFs have been known to park on or across my drive and then make out it's me being unreasonable), playing the sweariest music you can find at full volume? I'm not actually going to do anything but humour me here.

When we moved into our home on one side there was a school playing field; on the other side is our attached neighbour who had a large garden (as ours is). Several years down the line, the school closed and the playing field is having 160+ properties built on it, and the neighour on the other side sold off most of their garden to a developer who also bought up their neighbour's bungalow. On that side land that previously housed a bungalow and a garden now has two bungalows and seven apartments being built.

I would love to hear the sound of children playing, rather than being sandwiched between construction sites. It doesn't help that we took on an elderly rescue dog who is terrified of humans and noise. I'm glad we've got him [nobody else would have taken him on - he's an idiot] but I wouldn't have willingly subjected him to his fear of what's going on around him.

my lovely neighbours on one side are recovering from their saturday party hangovers. they always tell me if they’re having a party, it’s not often and i hardly ever hear them.

the other side is a nightmare. i had to go and hammer on the front door at 03.15 last sunday morning as she had a very drunk friend who was bellowing when i went to bed with earplugs in at 11, and was still bellowing at 3 in the fucking morning. she wouldn’t answer the door so i just shouted through that could they please shut up now as i was trying to sleep.

i received a bunch of flowers and a very apologetic note the next day. doesn’t make up for them signing for and then denying all knowledge of a parcel a few weeks ago so i have Taken Against them.

the man upstairs gets very drunk every so often and plays Johnny Cash records but he gets a pass as he’s lovely and it’s rarer than it used to be.

I think I was the annoying neighbour today. We had a bbq. I knocked and spoke to neighbours on both sides, next door and next door to them.
But the bbq was sooooo smokey. I've no idea what I was doing wrong, I've never seen anything like it. So sorry to my street!

Our neighbours-

Him- shirtless washing out guttering with hose and water pishing down my windows

Her- laying in sun- grating voice talking (shouting) to husband

Like benidorm in Kent Angry

Pottedpalm · 31/05/2021 20:59

Older couple one side who are lovely and quiet.
Other side had a caravan. They parked it so that it’s visible from
Our house but not. theirs.
Friday it disappeared!
Now they have a new, much bigger one, still in our view, not theirs.

@cleanasawhistle

My neighbours are a decent couple but sometimes come across as strange. Will chat one day but then totally ignore you the next.....

This morning my husband was outside.Next door neighbour was painting the fence that he owns between our houses.

My husband looks over to say hello, neighbour turns his back on him.
Husband comes in for 30mins to have lunch .
When he goes back outside the fence on our side has been painted.
So why couldnt he say earlier....good morning ,just painting the fence,do you mind if I come round later to paint the other side

@cleanasawhistle - Don't take it personally, because it probably wasn't personal. Probably just someone who wants to get the job of painting the fence done quickly, without having to pause to interact with their neighbour (and that's if the neighbour heard him).

Yes to the PP who said noisy people should all live in the same area and not pollute our peace and quiet. I thank God that we only have a few weeks of sun in this country a year!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 31/05/2021 21:25

Absolutely fine round our way. Someone opposite has been doing some diy; them next door have been having their roof done this weekend but no-one's been there today; next door but one down had their Alexa thing on in the garden; some teens had a party in a garden backing on to ours; next door's lad was out with his basketball; my children were at their friends' house in their paddling pool and I was sitting in the summerhouse and had the radio playing through my speaker. I love to listen to the sounds of summer and of people enjoying the good weather.

I was only thinking with sheer relief comparing this bank holiday with the one last year. The only noise here has been some children playing earlier which was really sweet.

Last year we had very loud music that we could hear throughout the house with the windows and doors shut, lots of shouting, a hot tub and bbq from one neighbour that went on for 10 long hours. In a lockdown in the middle of a pandemic.

I think noisy neighbours like quiet areas because they cannot stand others noise. My noisy ex neighbours moaned loudly if someone cut the grass, hated their ex attached neighbours because the children made noise, hated the next lot because they played music.

The entitlement and attention seeking behaviour has got worse. It is not just the sounds of life when you cannot think because of the incessant noise that goes on for 10 hours, day after day. Until you live next to it you cannot understand how detrimental it is to your life and health.

Thesagacontinues · 31/05/2021 21:30

Its 9.30pm and my 70 year old neighbour is outside strimming grass in his garden. Hes been out there for hours. I know though that he is just avoiding his wife who he had a massive argument earlier this evening. I know they had an argument as it was loud enough for all the neighbours to hear. His wife is much younger than him and can get irate. I think him asking whats for dinner started this argument off.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 31/05/2021 21:34

That goddamn fucking loud music. It's a human right, apparently, to blast your music and bass.

memberofthewedding · 31/05/2021 21:34

I keep thinking of that TV series "The Purge" where you could go around shooting people you didnt like on one night. I would be after my NDNs with an AK47 before they got me.

Some people don't deserve a home at all. Can't live without being inconsiderate cunts.

I’ve had fantasies like that, balaclava on, stun grenades, automatic weapons and all the drinks bottles shattered and a decimated swimming pool full of bullet holes like a michael bay movie…. Glad it’s not just me Cannot underestimate how anxious some horrible neighbours can be when they are ‘partying’ outside from midday til six a.m and bollocks to everyone else
Sometimesfraught82 · 31/05/2021 21:47

Absolutely nothing
Lovely family
Same with house opposite

tolerable · 31/05/2021 21:50

i favour the water pistol. ...You need a small, easily concealable high range powershot one....wee random sure shots every now n again,..also wait asd thing/am little miss looks like served in nam/ptsd at helicopters/airplanes etc..my noise is ok.anyone elses=unbearable. I swear i never ever thought bout wearing headphones/n limiting the intrusuin noises.but..whata difference.

IsThePopeCatholic · 31/05/2021 21:55

All quiet on the south London front: children laughing sweetly, lawnmower humming, parakeets screeching.

TellerTuesday · 31/05/2021 22:01

We now refer to our neighbours as 'hot tub wankers' they honestly get in that hot tub more than we use the bath. Wouldn't be so bad if they didn't invite a different set of friends around each day to sit in it with them and yabber on for hours and play their shitty music.

wink1970 · 31/05/2021 22:07

@ SappysCurry are you laughing at ‘gammon’? You do realise it’s a racist term? Not cool, even if it is anti-white.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 31/05/2021 22:11

Now my root for terrace neighbours are haven’t a soirée with Prosecco. I know it’s Prosecco because some foghorn keep shrieking ‘WE’RE DRINKING PROSECCO!!!’ for some reason. Sheesh...

I know the feeling, Saturday night my neighbours were out in the garden untill past 2am, loud music blasting, woman with big gob shouting and screaming waking me and my daughter up, and I can see tonight will prob end up the same way as they're out there now.
it's because of the nice weather, I actually dislike the summer for this very reason as it seems to bring out all the tw#$ts.
why they have to go so over the top and disrupt the entire street I do not know, so yes I feel for you.
I live in a new build with houses all around me, I CAN'T wait until we can move.

lceniWarrior · 31/05/2021 22:16

I'd move away to somewhere with no neighbours but feel tied here, because of my parents. I couldn't leave my mum.

RachyAnn34 · 31/05/2021 22:17

it's so annoying isn't it, you can't even enjoy your own garden, makes it pointless to have.

louisiannah · 31/05/2021 22:20

My absolute dream is to have no neighbours Grin and live on an island by myself with very very few people
