Oh no compete strangers on the internet not liking the same weather as me ruins the entire season for me 😭How am I supposed to enjoy summer now knowing that some internet randomers have different opinions to me 😭

"They can change how you feel about the weather. How about trying them instead of whining."

Yes, these radical, brilliant ideas that no one had ever thought of before someone on here suggested them. I'd have never have thought of lighter clothing and bedding until I was shown the light on this very thread. And not eating hot foods! Truly ahead of their time.

Or it could just that I don't like summer weather. Hmm

Teddy1970 · 31/05/2021 19:40

I'm not a fan of Summer normally, but Winter has dragged on and on plus May has been so blinking cold it's great to see the sun...disclaimer...I'll be sick of it by August!

FoxgloveBee · 31/05/2021 19:40

YANBU of course to prefer a different season!! I love all of the seasons and what they bring, but summer and autumn are my favourites in terms of weather.

countrygirl99 · 31/05/2021 19:41

@Hazelnutlatteplease

They can change how you feel about the weather. How about trying them instead of whining.

We all wear natural fibres, drink water, have no idea what spicy food has to do with it, I dont blow dry my hair and have cotton bedding.

We all have joint issues that are exacerbated by heat. DS has a metabolic condition that kills his body functioning in heat. We all need memory foam mattresses which are problematic in high summer.

Do I have your permission to bloody hate summer?

Fine to hate it, not fine to whinge. Thank god I don't have to mix with you lot. I don't whine about winter despite having livestock to cope with.
TheMNChicken · 31/05/2021 19:42

" Thank god I don't have to mix with you lot."

Something we can agree on.

countrygirl99 · 31/05/2021 19:45

I can cope with any weather. Don't care if it's-20 or +30, it's only wine's I have a problem with so of the cap fits.

countrygirl99 · 31/05/2021 19:46

*whiners, no problem with wineGrin

sanityisamyth · 31/05/2021 19:47

It's been 2 days!! We've had months of cold and wind and rain. Give us ectotherms a chance to warm up again!

TheMNChicken · 31/05/2021 19:48

It's almost like you didn't have to read this thread. You could have, instead, read the OP and then just... closed the tab since it was going to be full of "whiners", but instead you have decided to whine more than anybody else on this thread so far. Interesting.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 31/05/2021 19:48

The thing about seasons is that everyone gets a go of their favourite! Summer is about the shortest one so I guess it’s only fair for people to enjoy it while it lasts.

wolfmom · 31/05/2021 19:48

My illnesses mean thermoregulation doesn't happen so I get really sick in the heat. The cold weather isn't brilliant either, but , it's a lot easier to add layers and keep warm

What's with the thread policing on here? It's AIBU. We don't all have to agree with the OP.

I don't whine about winter despite having livestock to cope with.

I think you just did 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hazelnutlatteplease · 31/05/2021 20:05

Actually if I could have the sun and vitamin D without the heat that would work for me....

MolyHolyGuacamole · 31/05/2021 20:16

I do as well, and am so grateful so far that it's not been that hot yet! I normally have 2 fans going and I've still just got the one for now

Nope, I just wrap up warm and get in with it. I challenge youtofind a post of me moaning about the weather.
MolyHolyGuacamole · 31/05/2021 20:20

@Toilenstripes

Honestly, do any of you know what actual hot weather is? It’s not 18 degrees, or even 23! I appreciate that it’s all about what you are accustomed to but a few minutes of warm sunshine is healthy and for many people it’s necessary for good mental health.
I'm from the Caribbean where it's regularly high 20s+ and severe humidity and I absolutely loathe it, I've moved over here and I still hate UK summers, they're worse here because nowhere is equipped to deal with it. Dread the thought of being on a bus in the sweltering heat 🤢
Teddy1970 · 31/05/2021 20:48

It was 26c down South today, well that's what my car said, so pretty warm...

cocoloco987 · 31/05/2021 20:53

The only thing I don't like is that you can never actually count on summer weather. Wish it was more reliable!

RampantIvy · 31/05/2021 20:55

We had a very pleasant 20 degrees today - lovely and warm, not hot and sweat inducing.

cardibach · 31/05/2021 20:57

Every. Fucking. Year.
OP and all the other haters. Summer lasts (at best) about 26 weeks out of the 52. Fucking shut up moaning. The rest of us have to cope with all the cold and damp. And do not even dates romanticise autumn ‘crisp days’ its fucking damp and depressing. Spring was li’e November this year.
You have it your way for the majority of the time. Can’t you just shut up and let everyone else enjoy without the whingeing?

Worldwide2 · 31/05/2021 20:59

Oooooooh definitely not, I bloody love it.
Summery clothes and feeling more free, not in a heavy coat.
Bbqs and eating outside
Long sunny evenings
Sitting on the beach or in the sea
Just enjoying being outside in general.

cardibach · 31/05/2021 21:01

@SquirrelFan

I think summer is just for the body confident--the young, the beautiful, the people who don't care much (and good on them!). For an ordinary, not-great-looking, wants-to-look-pretty, middle-aged woman, the summer is so unforgiving! One must bare one's veiny, cellulite-y legs, deal with damp bits of one's fringe stuck to a high sweaty forehead, reveal lumpy hips as gossamer fabrics blow against them (or wear white jeans that emphasise just how large one's lower half is). The bright sunlight highlights any wrinkles or any makeup used in an attempt to conceal them. Plus in British summers, there is always the danger that one will be cold anyway, as the sun goes behind a cloud and the breeze picks up and the strappy sundress is no protection. I long for indigo jeans that visually slim and act like a girdle, fluffy turtlenecks that frame the face with a flattering colour, cosy coats one can snuggle into, and the comfort of a warm beverage.
Rubbish. I’m 56 and overweight. I don’t care about all that crap. I just like to be warm all the time and I’m the sunshine.
cardibach · 31/05/2021 21:05

@ScottishNewbie

I don't know anyone who enjoys being sweaty and sticky.... Including my extremely slim family and friends.... It's a horrible feeling regardless of your size.
It hasn’t got hot enough to feel sweaty and sticky yet. And when it does, it’s preferable to feeling cold, wet and miserable anyway. Does anyone enjoy that?
