I prefer spring and autumn and a crisp (rather than wet) winter to summer any day.
I have to slather on sun cream as I burn very easily (I've managed to get sun burn in March before now in the UK...). I hate the sticky feeling of sun cream as it warms up on the skin. Urgh!
I also have rosacea which is made worse by the sun so if I know I can't get shade I have to remember a hat (which then makes my head hot).
But, if I'm able to plan ahead it's OK.
If we're travelling any distance in the car I stick clean, wet flannels in a plastic bag and pop them in the freezer. Lovely to take away that heat blast in the car or if you get stuck in traffic and the air con's doing over time.
I put water bottles in the freezer early in the morning if we're heading out. Just a few hours will turn the water to icy slush then straight into a little cool bag - keeps the water icy for longer.
I've been known to take my famous icy flannel on the bus or train as my feet feel like they expand to the size of the BFG's feet and the flannel is really great to cool them down fast.
I also try to make sure places we visit in July/August have shade. Luckily DH and DS aren't beach people - both of them are happy to sit on a beach for an hour or so but get bored really easily. So persuading them to do a country walk in woods then go to the beach late afternoon has never been a problem.
But yes, if I could keep the temperature at 23 or 24 maximum with clear skies I'd be happier.
