Seriously? We've had utterly shit weather for months and it's finally nice.

You get your preferred shit weather for about 75% of the time - hold onto that thought.

TheMNChicken · 31/05/2021 16:26

"You said it, not me.
What about wearing non-synthetic fibres, staying hydrated, avoiding spicy and hot (temperature) foods, not wearing loads of accessories, no blow-drying hair, choosing different bedding... Etc etc etc."

I didn't know these things could change the weather. Amazing!

iklboo · 31/05/2021 16:28

Yep. Honestly anyone who lives in the UK or Ireland and doesn't like the heat has little to complain about, they get their way 90% of the time.

Get their way? They don't order the weather from Argos or on a majority vote basis. How is someone not liking hot weather 'spoiling' it for others - they're not going to demand someone turns the sun down are they? People are allowed not to like the heat - just the same as people that do.

TimetohittheroadJack · 31/05/2021 16:30

Sumner haters- you need to move to Scotland. There's maybe 2-3 days a year it's hot. The rest is jumper weather.

SecretWitch · 31/05/2021 16:34

I truly hate summer and all it’s hot sticky days. Roll on cool and rainy fall days.

I said "you could make some lifestyle changes that would make you feel more physically comfortable in moderate heat..."

To which you replied:
"Surprised it took till page 2 for the "if you don't like the heat it's cos you're a fatty" posts to start ffs."

All of the above suggestions are obviously, lifestyle changes. That have nothing to do with body size. I wasn't even thinking of it! I am always flabbergasted by people i see wearing black pleather jackets or knee high boots or a full on face of makeup and then spend the day moaning that it's hot and their makeup is sweating off. Adapting to weather changes with the season is not rocket science. Oh, but well done on revealing your own fatphobia!

Sakura7 · 31/05/2021 16:41

Eh, did I say they did? Confused

How is someone not liking hot weather 'spoiling' it for others

Again, I never said that.

I'm simply making the point that if you get weather that suits you the vast majority of the time, you're doing alright and there's little to moan about.

Treaclepie19 · 31/05/2021 16:41

Summer is my least favourite too and I end up with SAD but the summer version.
I feel so down because everyone loves it and wants to be out but I'd rather hide away until winter 🤷‍♀️

MrsMiddleMother · 31/05/2021 16:54

It's my least favourite season, I hate being hot and being hot and sweaty. However, everything is open and it's the only time you can do stuff with kids easily ime so that's the good part

TheMNChicken · 31/05/2021 17:18

😂😂😂 No bother 👍

MarshaBradyo · 31/05/2021 17:21

An I love it

Lounging outside in the sun or doing stuff

Hope we get a good summer as spring has been a bit lack lustre, I’m glad it’s picked up

LemonSherbetFancies · 31/05/2021 17:26

To the poster who said it isn't even 18C, speak for yourself, it's 24C here.

ilovesooty · 31/05/2021 18:08

@lollipoprainbow

This is a post for people that don't like summer ! If you do don't bother reading or commenting Hmm
Well perhaps the thread title should have made that clear then. I was hoping it would be about enjoying summer since we had one of these moaning threads only last week.
ThinWomansBrain · 31/05/2021 18:11

weather like this weekend is good - can't bear it being really hot though

Holly60 · 31/05/2021 18:48

I ADORE summer. Until about half way through August when I start fantasising about crisp winter walks and snuggly jumpers and pub lunches in front of the fire….

Why do you need a cosy fire if you hate heat? Confused
MrsSugar · 31/05/2021 18:53

Finally !!! People who feel like me ! I really hate summer. I hate the heat, everywhere is noisy and busy, constantly sweaty and uncomfy, bright glarey light !! I’m fair skinned so always end up burnt ! Sometimes I think I have SAD but in an unusual form. People are horrified to hear I hate summer but I really genuinely do not moan at all about weather when it’s cold or wet !!

You've obviously missed all the previous posts and the last thread yearning for cosy and snuggly. Hmm
skybluee · 31/05/2021 19:11

I love it - I'm so much more comfortable. Able to sit outside (can't in winter, can partially in spring and autumn), sun on my skin, just feeling physically comfortable and well.

For me the ideal temperature year round would be 25 in the day and 20 overnight, each day. I wouldn't choose for it to go hotter than that though, unlike some people.

I don't wear shorts. Don't really get sticky and even if I did slightly, it's way more comfortable than being freezing constantly and trying to warm up. In the winter I go outside and start shaking, it's like it shocks my body. None of that in the summer at all, which is great.

countrygirl99 · 31/05/2021 19:20

9+ months of the year are your preference so quit whining for the few weeks we get decent weather. If you are too hot you are nor dressing right.

They can change how you feel about the weather. How about trying them instead of whining.

Finally? There are always people whinging whenever ghe temp goes abovec18 which is only just warm.
cookiecreampie · 31/05/2021 19:27

It makes me miserable, hot and sweaty, plus the hayfever.....

HerRoyalNotness · 31/05/2021 19:33

We get high humidity and 40c so yep by about the end June to mid July we’ve had enough and stay indoors. The mozzies are also terrible this year, I’m getting the yard sprayed for the first time, they have to do it every 3 weeks but hopefully it helps so we can be in the garden without being bitten.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 31/05/2021 19:34

They can change how you feel about the weather. How about trying them instead of whining.

We all wear natural fibres, drink water, have no idea what spicy food has to do with it, I dont blow dry my hair and have cotton bedding.

We all have joint issues that are exacerbated by heat. DS has a metabolic condition that kills his body functioning in heat. We all need memory foam mattresses which are problematic in high summer.

Do I have your permission to bloody hate summer?
